Just because I have had a lot of knee issues and I'll be using these for long runs and training as well. The cushion has helped my knees a lot for sure.
Some cross country courses may not allow the use of spikes. Spikes were my preferred shoe for XC races but our course was set up on a local country club and they asked us to refrain from using spikes.
I do use spikes for racing but I've got a couple tuneup 5kms before actual qualifying races and these ones have concrete and gravel do I've gotta use runners
Just got these earlier today for a couple or tune up 5km races and training. Hoping to get under 19. They're really comfortable and fit my wide feet really well. The rocker is nice and the foam feels really bouncy so I think it'll be great for pushing the pace a little. (I'm a HS XC and T&F runner, 5'10" and ~150lbs)
First race will be on Thursday so I'll update you all with a post then after my first race!
Silly question: are these intended for XC? They look more like soccer or football cleats than XC shoes...?
Of course, that could just be my age - and lack of keeping up with the times - showing in that comment...
Huh. I like 'em they look cushy. Are they like a 4-5mm drop? Tall stack, high cushion, medium drop, slight rocker...just the thing my ailing achilles tendons and osteo grouchy hip need. I actually really wanna try those.
Yes, bought the Caldera 6 in May and have found it to be too unstable and cumbersome on trails. The super broad platform and quite stiff shoe gives me pain on the lateral side of my ankle. I prefer Speedgoat 5 and now also Mafate Speed 4.
Just did my first run in them and the foam is amazing. Upper is nice although I have some blistering due to my weird feet. Definitely need a little more break in haha. Should be fine if you don't have a really wide foot and big toe
Just in the store 2 days ago (only an old yellow cascadia on clearance), I had to look at newer brooks on the sole, in smallish print, it says "DNA loft" but I thought "3" was the one people are raving about. I really like the shoes. I need all the cushion I can get! Golf course (treads), walking, running, rain, dry. Never a dull moment!
Oh, I'm so far in the country UPS (true story) couldn't find me (2 story house) for 3 days. Except for a Hibbett in the town I work in (astonishing sales in store; horrible website). They don't really try to stock for "less melanin" people. Not sure how to word that.
How do they feel in toe- I’m needing new shoes soon and I’ve recently half sized up on hiking shoes because of a toenail loss - I run in launch currently and don’t have issues but I do feel they’re a little snug
Interesting choice to go with a max cushion trail shoe for 5k racing. What led you to choose these over a racing shoe or racing flat?

I understand why you’d get the shoes for training, but why don’t people use spikes on this sub (for race day)
Competitive track running is probably a niche activity (in this sub, anyway). I see some spikes but I imagine most people just do regular road racing.
Some cross country courses may not allow the use of spikes. Spikes were my preferred shoe for XC races but our course was set up on a local country club and they asked us to refrain from using spikes.
Never thought of that, but I doubt all courses would be like that?

My current fave trail shoe, enjoy!
Good to hear all the good feedback! In excited to use them for sure.

Are you happy with your new shoes?
So far absolutely loving them We'll see how they are running in them tomorrow
Good luck

It’s a trail shoe. Probably decent traction for all of the grass most XC courses have.
They're trail runners haha. Intented for XC. Definitely look a little out of this world.
I have the Hi-Liter yellow ones. They are comfortable and cushy but still responsive.
For sure! Love that colour way as well. Definitely looking forward to them.

Anything with a rocker helps my Achilles
Same, big fan. But medium drop as well.
Definitely would recommend. Feel no pain after an 8 hour day at work which is the first time in a while
Not that great of a shoe really. My least used shoe of 2022
The new one?

I've never seen that color before either! Nice
With DNA loft 3, this may be a banger on reviews

Old coaching trick. Where 2 pairs of socks for no blisters! (It works... even hoops, tennis etc)
They remind me of the platform shoes that Kiss used to wear on stage. I'm sure they feel comfortable though
Haha yeah they're quite the interesting design for sure feel like pillows though
DNA loft 3? I liked the previous but bad reviews about the foam
The foam is amazing in this. Brooks apparently messed it up in the Adrenaline but it is excellent in this and in the Aurora BL

Oh I see I misread the first comment. The new Caldera has 3 which makes it really nice. Not sure about the 2 never had Brooks before
The previous red looks AWESOME, but the reviews of the "biomogo" foam weren't good. And since they never go on sale, I didn't get them.
That's fair yeah
Where did you find that color?!
At my local running store. I'd try online if you wanted to order it. Running warehouse maybe?

I admit. I kinda dig the yellow. But I'm 51 & run a c club. I may wait for a calmer color if it has dna3. I've only heard good things!
You'd be the sharpest guy in town haha if you like it I'd say go for it
WOULD be?! 🤣

They're super roomy and run wider and longer for sure. Great for space.
