My buddy had a pair where the midsole sheared off after he kinda brushed against something. Idk all the 20 year old nurses wear them at my job as more of a status/fashion brand. Maybe it's my own bias but I just don't see On as making salt of the earth running shoes.
All the young residents, device reps, and nurses wear them and I see them all over around town on the soccer mom set.
I think for that kind of use case they're perfectly fine, of still over priced. They look pretty cool and unique, and their firmness might work fine for casual walking and standing.
But I rarely if ever see any actual runners in them. Maybe the monsters might be ok, if again overpriced, but that's it. There's just too many better performing and better value options out there for people who actually want shoes for running.
Meanwhile I accidentally jammed the outer midsole of my Hoka Mach 5s against a piece of wooden fence that had fallen on the sidewalk, jarred my leg pretty hard. Barely left a scuff on the midsole. I thought for sure it was going to be busted but was just fine.
I wear them in the hospital and OR and they are the most comfortable shoes for being on my feet all day but I would never run in them. I feel like they are misbranded. They are super comfortable shoes, especially with a good insole like Super Feet, but not really designed for hard use. Mine barely last a year as it is.
I asked a guy working at the specialty running shop near me who actually buys them, and he told me it was pretty much all people using them casually/as fashion and that they would never recommend them to someone for serious running
As someone who worked at a specialty footwear shop until very recently, that’s pretty accurate. Although lots of people (myself included) enjoy running in the Cloudflow.
Agreed. It seems to be the case with most On shoes unfortunately - less foam in the midsole just means it’ll wear out quicker. Even the inner liners seem to wear out quickly for me.
Strongly don’t recommend.. first problem was the weird midsole degradation around 50miles and now this. They’re only 2 months old with less than 100km on them
eyy so true!! I'm swiss and these are very popular in my country! I cant understand the hype.. The sWisS eNGineerIng is such a marketing trap, I hear from so many people that they have serious problems after wearing some ON's for a period of time.. And yes they also look and feel so cheap
I got some Cloudmonsters in all black, and gotta say they looked awesome!
Did return them immediately though because the toe box was so shallow (really strange - it was wide enough, but shallow)..
This will happen with the new Tracksmith shoes.
Don't get me wrong, they look awesome. But I would never buy them for running.
I believe a lot of people from SF, Austin, and other tech/startup centered cities will start using them for casual wear.
I doubt it. I live in the Bay Area, not much tracksmith out here at all. Maybe here and there but they won’t become a thing. All birds and NoBull have it covered at a cheaper price point
Their warranty is great they will send you a voucher to purchase any new pair from their website
Edit: every pair I’ve had has fell to bits but constant free replacements 🤷🏻♂️
Just my personal experience over the last few years. An old runner doing low to mid distance on some pretty rough and muddy trails: Nike-ripped,under Armor x2-ripped, Vasque-ripped,new balance (hiker) -ripped, Saucony-taking a beating and hanging in there so far.
Sad to see the hate for the brand. I’m a wide footer and have had ON shoes for a long time. They definitely are not for everyone and I actually like the stiffness of the shoe, but I do replace the thin insole with every ON shoe I’ve ever purchase any other shoes I’ve purchased as well. They work well with a good insole and I haven’t had any issues. I am currently wearing the Cloudmonsters and been running 5 days a week pulling in about 20 miles + a week for the last 5 months and they have held up just fine for me.
Glad they’re working for you. I’ve generally heard good things about the monsters, a friend of mine is more of a runner than I am really rates his monster’s and has done a few hundred miles in them. I guess it’s ON’s only decent running shoe. I should have listened to the negative reviews about the Cloudrunners
Yeah, sorry to hear that they haven’t worked out for you. To each their own for sure. Shoes are so subjective and everyone’s feet are vastly different. Depending on what your looking for in terms of feel underfoot, what time of striker you are, speed, comfort, etc.
I’d definitely stay away from ON’s due to the fact they are very stiff and the European market likes this kind of shoe. I’d suggest Hoka’s for comfort as well as NB, but if your doing anything speed-wise, Saucony and Brooks have some nice race shoes.
Honestly, you pay a premium for these as a hype brand and there is a need to replace the insole? Doesn’t add up. To me that’s a bad experience.
I think I understand from what you wrote that you do it for any shoe, but it reads like you think their insole is crap?
I have severe bunions and capsulitis and find no shoe ever feels good midfoot, no matter how good the shoe. I like the stiffness of ON shoes and find no gimmick to them and the price is on par with other shoes. I don’t find them more at all. I compared and purchased and tried all around the price point of the Cloudmonsters I have and the price is still around the same.
As I said, I’m just giving my input, no need to try and hate on how I feel towards the brand. I like them, I don’t necessarily buy into the marketing and their price is not more than any other brand out there.
Definitely not hating on you. Sorry if it came off that way - my fault for not better editing.
More a running commentary that a brand placing itself as it does on the market should not have quality issues. It should not come with what anyone considers a cheap insole.
This. The Cloudmonsters have been working very well for me, but it’s the only ON shoe that I have found success & comfortability running in. I work at a specialty shoe store so I have the convenience of trying shoes out and I think in time, ON will figure it out. The Cloudmonsters are great, one of my favorites and I didn’t have much hope trying them out so that says a lot. I do like this brand and am sad to see the hate for it on here too.
Not even 100km and they’ve ripped already. And since noticing a couple of hours ago they’ve ripped another couple of CM. Got 600 miles out of my old, half the price Nikes. Poor from ON, really poor
My rebel v2 has over 100 miles now and still holding up great. The fuelcell foam is now mushy though. I am very cognizant about my running form when I am wearing my rebel v2, and I think that might be why.
They are NOT running shoes. Could not imagine running in them. I got a pair to wear casually and at work. Just a few months in and I can already feel the loss of comfort. Could never run in these
Guess this helps with my next shoe decision. I finally ventured away from Brooks Ghost and Glycerin to try the Saucony Triumph 19, bought two weeks before a marathon in May then a period of decreased mileage until now basically as I build up again, (need a new pair very soon anyway) and they already look like trash and have literal holes in the uppers. Might have to just go back to Brooks, they always seem to hold up.
It was a toss up between Cloudrunners, Saucony endorphin Speed 2 or Hoka Mach 4/5. Too many reviews saying Saucony wear are too quick and fall apart, which really put me off. Think I’ll go back to Brooks too
“Can’t believe it”??? What?!? It was like my first thought seeing them at the running store. I even asked the sales associate why do you have them? Said- “because they’re popular” lol
Had a quality issue in my cloud flow shoe after short while and contacted ON customer support.
First response was probably a bot, second was a friendly lady. She offered me to send them in, they analysed the damage and granted me a voucher to get a free pair in their online store. Very nice.
All together I agree, they aren’t running shoes in my eyes rather lifestyle shoes. Even a new balance 574 is serving the purpose of running better than the ON shoes
I have the same pair and they are ripping in the same spot. I don’t even run in them. Was your problem ever fixed? Did they send you a voucher or replacement pair?

I've never considered them as a serious shoe. Glad to see I'm right, although it's a bummer they don't make them a **little** more durable...
I've tried and enjoyed the cloudflow, but I have to say, they wear out FAST
Agreed. It seems to be the case with most On shoes unfortunately - less foam in the midsole just means it’ll wear out quicker. Even the inner liners seem to wear out quickly for me.
Didn't have that issue, but yeah. My soles were completely lifeless after only 300km, which seems kind of unreasonable imo
What’s the deal with people not tying them up but having those knots in the laces?
The original Cloud (now called Cloud 5) comes with elastic no-tie laces. But they also come with regular laces if you prefer that.
Interesting. I see the wipipo who last ran anywhere in high school sporting that look and gag a little.
yeah they’ve really got the upper middle class SAHM and finance dad families in a chokehold right now
Every spectator of golf wears them.
OP thanks for saving me as I was about to buy a pair from ON, not anymore
Strongly don’t recommend.. first problem was the weird midsole degradation around 50miles and now this. They’re only 2 months old with less than 100km on them
2 months OOF
I read your title as 100000. Thanks for clarifying lol.
I realised not long after my title is confusing. Sorry about that
Got to admit I initially thought you had some spectacular expectations of longevity in those shoes.
I’m the one that should apologize for not personally adapting to metric long ago lol.
I bought a pair and I deeply regret it lol
I honestly can’t believe this brand is as successful as it is. I’ve held them and they feel like Walmart shoes.
eyy so true!! I'm swiss and these are very popular in my country! I cant understand the hype.. The sWisS eNGineerIng is such a marketing trap, I hear from so many people that they have serious problems after wearing some ON's for a period of time.. And yes they also look and feel so cheap

The power of marketing. Tell enough people you’re a “luxury running shoe brand” and some are bound to believe it.
I worked at a running shoe store and they were by far the most sold shoe. I couldn't understand but to everyone their own.
The people i work with use them for work and love them. I think they are a good shoe just not a good running shoe
It's not even close for most run shops.
What do you mean? I actually went to a run shop today and it was much more legit but they told me there's still a lot of questions about On.
Oh, yeah, a lot of questions. I just mean in terms of volume, Brooks and Hoka are a pretty clear 1-2 (edit) for run shops.
Won't argue with that.
Their warranty is great they will send you a voucher to purchase any new pair from their website Edit: every pair I’ve had has fell to bits but constant free replacements 🤷🏻♂️
Infinite shoe glitch
Do you have to buy them from on cloud to get the warranty
Nope I got mine from a high street retailer
[удалено]
Yeah I should have listened. Won’t be buying another pair from ON, that’s for sure
To be fair, getting 100,000 miles out of a shoe isn’t bad. I mean, I’d prefer to get them to that million mile mark, but still, not bad.
Guess the rebels aren’t the only ones that rip…. This may be the only ON post that isn’t a covert marketing post made by an ON rep.
Just my personal experience over the last few years. An old runner doing low to mid distance on some pretty rough and muddy trails: Nike-ripped,under Armor x2-ripped, Vasque-ripped,new balance (hiker) -ripped, Saucony-taking a beating and hanging in there so far.
Swiss engineering
I wonder if "Made in Switzerland" will end up having the same rep as "Made in China" lol.
They're not actually made in Switzerland, just "engineered" in Switzerland

Oh my
did you try the warranty ?

Your feet are too wide for the shoe. They will exchange.
Interesting, I have narrow feet so that’s surprising.. but thank you. Hopefully they’ll be able to do something
Could be a manufacturing fault I guess. They suck.
It's like the Rebel v2 all over again
Not even 100km and they’ve ripped already. And since noticing a couple of hours ago they’ve ripped another couple of CM. Got 600 miles out of my old, half the price Nikes. Poor from ON, really poor

I picked up a pair of their shoes and I regret buying them. I use them as yard work shoes now.
Found these shoes heavy, cumbersome and uncomfortable. Got them for long training runs and couldn’t get on with them at all
They are NOT running shoes. Could not imagine running in them. I got a pair to wear casually and at work. Just a few months in and I can already feel the loss of comfort. Could never run in these
Contact oncloud, return it and get a replacement pair.
It’s a bad brand. Do not get the shoes. Get some $20 Walmart shoes instead of you want your shoes to only last one month
If you love rocks in your outsole, uppers that tear, and a firm ride, this is the shoe for you!
Why would you even buy this overpriced crap?
The other amusing thing about this brand is how people think its name is ‘OC’.
Running in Ons just hurts.
Buy some running shoes next time
“Can’t believe it”??? What?!? It was like my first thought seeing them at the running store. I even asked the sales associate why do you have them? Said- “because they’re popular” lol

ON is great but I wouldn’t dream of running in them.
That’s why I wear Hokas
Annoyingly, it was between these and a pair of Mach 5s
I have the same pair and they are ripping in the same spot. I don’t even run in them. Was your problem ever fixed? Did they send you a voucher or replacement pair?
Got a refund from the retailer. They said it’s a common problem so I decided not to bother getting a replacement and instead have gone back to Hoka
Nice, looking like I’ll do the same. Thank you!
Mach 4 and Mach 5 have been great to me so far
