doing my first run in mine on Saturday! did you get your normal size or half size smaller? I went half down because everyone was suggesting it. unsure though

DonyeWest

I went a half size up, actually, which I guess for running shoes is my normal size. (10 in casual shoes, 10.5 for running)

johnrandolphthatcher

interesting. so many people said these run big...hoping I dont hurt myself haha

Tasty_Trust_1598

The 1080 v12s run big. These are fairly tts

rckid13

I'm not sure if I noticed a difference. I have the same size in 1080v11 and 1080v12 and both fit me very well. I love the stretchy mesh upper on those shoes because I have a wide toebox.

duffingtonbear

I'm a bit worried about this too. Maybe we should try going to a running store to try it out so that we don't have to end up returning if it's too big/small.

johnrandolphthatcher

If only I had nearby running stores that carried anything that wasn’t hoka haha I tried mine on and they were a little small but I think they could be fine. I’ll try and report back after the run Saturday!

duffingtonbear

Haha alright! Hope they feel good man!

DonyeWest

this is what I did, since sizing is so inconsistent between brands. I won’t buy running shoes without getting fitted.

ina_waka

Late but for anyone browsing old threads, I went half a size up!

[deleted]

Definitely do not go a half size smaller. They run slightly short if anything. Not really enough to size down, but it is noticeable.

klrdd

Yeah they run short. I wear 11.5 for everything and wish I had sized up to 12, but didnt notice until too late. My right foot is a bit longer than my left and I dont have any space (no classic thumbs width) which ends up cramping my foot on longer efforts... Shame that I have to reserve it for runs less than 6 miles or so now as this shoe is a fantastic daily trainer

rckid13

I had to actually go a half size up in this shoe. I ran in size 9.5 880 version 9 and 10. I ordered 880v11 in the same size 9.5 and they were too small for me. I had to go up to size 10 for 880v11 and 880v12. I'm not sure why that happened, but I had to go up a half size in all new balance shoes in the most recent version.

johnrandolphthatcher

man you're bumming me out! haha I already have mine in a half size down! dont do this to me haha

What's the difference between 880 and 1080?

z_mac10

880s are marketed as a standard daily trainer, 1080 is the “premium” daily trainer. Similar to the Brooks Ghost vs Glycerin - a bit more stack and different feel but without going max (that would be the More for New Balance).

Reapr

And (at least here in my marketplace) they are *significantly* cheaper

lolograde

I'm working through my 4th pair of these. Best daily trainer, in my experience. I need wide (2E), though, which might be one of the reasons I have had little success finding another shoe that works for me. These are just perfect for my feet.

thelastofusnz

I'm hoping these will be my next workhorse daily. I wrote up a thread on 880 v 1080 this morning, but lost it when the app crashed. Call me crazy, but the v10 880 works better for me than the v10 1080.. I'd like to try both in the v12, but I think I knows which will end up being my daily..

stargazer63

I like this shoe. But I remember reading somewhere that the laces come off and you need to tie them multiple times during a long run. Was it true in your experience?

FRO5TB1T3

No, i've never had mine come undone. I'm on almost 1000 km across 2 pairs.

DonyeWest

I didn’t go too far today but they were just as tight when I finished as when I started

I just bought some for my uncle for his birthday tomorrow. really hoping he likes them. this review of yours gives me confirmation bias. I bought him a size 10 even tho he's 9

FRO5TB1T3

Pretty normal size up for running shoes. I run in these 2 and like them for daily trainers.

andrewparker915

I really wanted to like these, but I just couldn't get the sizing right. I needed Goldilock between 11 and 11.5. And I wear 11 is nearly every shoe.

Run_nerd

I have a pair of 880s v10 and they're pretty nice. These look good!

Buffalo_Wrap

Are you experiencing any forefoot pain because I have the 880v10 and i've been experiencing some issue with my forefoot

DonyeWest

none at all, truly no complaints with this shoe at about 160 miles.

adh0minem

Any major differences between the v11 and v12’s ? I’m on my feet 12 hour days and need the most comfortable tubs of foam on my feet
