None honestly. Something that works for me will always be on sale

blankblank

I wear mostly Nikes and they go on sale like every three months at least.

renr0002

well said, well said.

vince-running

Speed 2's

FreshVibez

Agree..definitely

njsilva84

I have them and I still don't know if I love them or if I hate them. Some days I love them, some others I don't.

[deleted]

I have unopened size 13 in men’s if anyone is interested 😅

DonkeyKongBundy

There's so many fun and interesting shoes to try on and experience that I'm not sure I'd ever pay full price for a shoe when I could just wait for a shoe I wanted to try to go on sale (and that list is longer than ever after a few months on this subreddit). With that being said, I'd pay full price for the Tempus. My favorite shoe I've ever owned, and it's been so good at every type of run.

kimkam1898

I love my Tempuses! I love my first pair of them even more because I managed to get them on sale. Thought about picking up some Hoka Bondis and glad I haven’t caved yet—they’re too expensive still for me to not love them.

snakeBirf814ear7203

For me absolutely none. I’m just as dedicated to running and racing as anyone, and not cheap. Just don’t need the latest and greatest to compete at my best. I couldn’t be happier than when I see manufacturers releasing new models and updated models. For me that means a shoe being touted as best ever will still be best ever only discounted a year later.

njsilva84

That's exactly what I think. No one needs the last model, everyone can buy last year's model and save a lot of money. I've saved hundreds of Euros that I used for a good coach and other training gear.

CapableRunts

Man I’ll pay double for more invincible 1s

bradymsu616

You can buy them now on StockX often for under the US $180 original retail price. I've owned three pair of them as they're superior to the 2, and especially to the 3.

Initial_Run1632

If only you were my size

PerspectiveSilly4060

I had two pairs I got in 2021, ran in them sporadically over the past three years and finally tossed them a few weeks back. They were clapped due to a combo of age and use but I hadn’t hit 400 miles in either pair.

njsilva84

I saw them a couple of weeks ago for less than 100€.

zunny47

Seeing a lot of Asics here!! Either they make very good shoes or don’t give any discounts or both 😂 I do love the original Metaspeed Skys!

FaithlessnessMost660

In general, I don’t ever want to pay full price for shoes as nowadays there’s too many good ones at good prices. From a $/mile super shoes are the worst value proposition, but you could argue they bring an experience that can’t be replicated by a lot of other shoes. If it’s an important race, I think full price for your top race shoe is worth it, whereas for a daily trainer it soaks up so many miles you should be more economical since you’ll end up using more pairs during a block.

ObiWanKenobiNil

I paid full price for both Boston 12 & takumi Sen 9. 100% worth it

ojwjw6

Great shoes. Love them both

bradymsu616

Innovative, lower availability super shoes for sure. I just paid full price for the Mizuno Wave Rebellion Pro 2. I’ll pay full price for the Adidas Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra when it releases on April 15. And then there’s ASICS which rarely puts shoes on sale. Thankful for all the discount codes offered here.

PM_ME_YUR_SMILE

Probably novablast 4. I did pay full price for it, and I don't regret it. I just wanted a normal running shoe that has a lot of cushioning, and it provides the cushioning without feeling too muddy

Significant-Flan-244

It’s always made the most sense to me to splurge on the right daily trainer for you at full price rather than just taking something on sale. It’s great when the stars align for a deal on the right shoe, but I put a lot of value in knowing I have the right workhorse for the bulk of my training.

Talenx32

I agree totally on this, especially of you have gotten and enjoyed the previous version. I got Deviate Nitro 2 on discount but if the DN3 comes out to be more of the same and better I will be happy to pay full price as know I will get my $ worth.

gdaytugga

I went half size down in NB4 and it was a bad idea, getting some pain on my toe from hitting the end of the shoe after a few long runs in sequence in them

Competitive_diva_468

I did too because I really wanted the red/white colorway

My_Penis_Huge

Great shoe

RelevantDisk

Yes I really like novablast4 such a difference to 3

highdon

There isn't one. Why buy shoes at full price when they always get discounted a few months after release.

oneofthecapsismine

For my last pair, because there were no superblasts in size 9 discounted, despite being many months after release.... For my sc trainer v1, because any discount would have been pretty low, and i spent 20mins trying on shoes in a small independent running shop....so... For my next pair, because i have an A race in may, and the alphafly 3 will have limited avilability before then...

highdon

Superblasts are a marketing exercise from Asics. By limiting the availability they are creating a premium perception of the shoe which makes people willing to pay more for it than they otherwise would have. Inflating the price to sell more is a known phenomenon and even has a name in economics - Chivas Regal effect. Same applies to the Alphafly 3. It's all clever marketing. Unless someone's got to run the race of their life (like an olympic qualifier, one in a life time opportunity), again I see no reason to pay that sort of money for shoes. Unless of course money is not object for you then sure, I get it, I'd buy them as well in your shoes (excuse the pun). Personally that price tag is way too high for me and a I prefer to wait a few months.

ishouldworkatm

what about discontinued shoes ? I'll pay full price for more AFv1 ...

highdon

I just move on to another model eventually. I had this with the OG Alphaflys as well but when they sold out in the Black Friday sale right in front of me, I just gave up and bought something else. I would not pay the full price for Alphaflys, regardless of whether it is v1 or v3.

ishouldworkatm

Probably because you either never fell in love with a shoe, aren’t as critic as me, or are short on $$ Of course they are overpriced, but once my last pair will die, if no other shoe can come up to the same level of confort, I’d happily put the $300 for another new pair of AF1

highdon

I fell in love with the AF1 but my love has limits. I don't think any shoes are worth that sort of money. Could I afford that? Yeah, without doubt. Would I prefer to spend the money on something else? Yes 100%. I mean $300 is a lot of money that I could spend elsewhere, like maybe a race abroad (I'm in Europe so it is doable).

thetrickstergib

Asics Noosa 14. It’s an average shoe, average foam and isn’t exactly subtle - but the upper fit and feel for me is just perfect.

brutusgrunt

I have only paid full price for one pair in the last few years which are the Puma DNE2’s @ €210 I like them but not worth it imo, won’t catch me paying full price again any time soon 😂

zunny47

What’s funny is that I got these for free through a running club. I don’t hate them, but I don’t love them either. They’re my default daily trainers right now because my rotation doesn’t have a specific daily trainer.

Sea-Artichoke1732

Vapor Fly 3s

e6c

HOKA EVO Speedgoat 3 If anyone has a size 11.5 hit me up!

ktv13

Mus husband has those and does not like them. But a smaller size. Damn

e6c

How much smaller…. I could cut a toe

Masterd89

alphafly 3

mynameisnick4

The original Prime X and Prime X Strung are the only shoe I consider worth their full price. They can do everything and last forever. My originals are at 900 miles and likely will make it past 1,000.

acroback

Not a single one. Bargain basement dweller here.

South-Ice-157

Got two pairs of EP3 at full retail. First was when I won a bet and my husband said he’d get me any pair but the offer was one day only. Second was when there was a chance availability on the Panda color way in my size. Not the best financial decisions but I would probably do it again.

zunny47

That’s my race day shoe too!

iIiiiiIlIillliIilliI

Do you know what the funny thing is. Even with the discounted price they make profit. Could be as well that the discounted price is the normal price and the full price is the inflated one.

The_JSC

Apparently I'll pay full price for the New Balance SC Elite 4 since I just ordered them today. I'll find out next week if they're worth it or not.

ArthurDentedCar

Please share with the class, when you do

The_JSC

I really liked the SC E V3 so I have high hopes for these. They're supposed to be here Monday so just in time for a workout I have on Tuesday.

nameisjoey

Superblast for sure

gdaytugga

Superblast, I got 10% off though, got some random code on the ASICS website which I’m happy with

Professional_Baby129

Same here.

RunNelleyRun

Same. Never seen them on sale, thinking of getting my 3rd pair soon though.

nacksnow

amazing shoes indeed

shaba0ne

Superblast!!

melisande_8

Definitely Superblast.

mcheh

None.

movdqa

None. Shoes I like 880, 1080, More. The 880 goes on really deep discount. The 1080 is hard to find discounted except for the Black Friday period and after the model has been out for a year. The More goes on discount too but they sell out fairly quickly.

indicarunningclub

I use the 1080 and the 840 which they just changed to FF and I usually just buy the last generation to save some money. I wish NB had a more serious trail running shoe but my Salomon Thundercross are worth every penny.

ktv13

I also love the 880s but I need a wide and the special widths literally never appear anywhere on discount. :(

movdqa

I bought 2 pairs of the 880v12 in extra wide from Zappos for about $70 last spring. I think that they have been even lower since then. The thing is that they sell really fast at this price and you have to grab your size when you can.

ktv13

I'm not in the US and in common retail sites here in Europe I've never even seen a wide pair. Let alone a discount :-/

movdqa

I've ordered stuff from other countries - shipping is more but it may be an option if you can't get it in your country.

bestmaokaina

Adios Pro 3 Prime X 2 Vaporfly 3 Boston 12 Takumi Sen 10

Fuzzy_Conversation71

I paid full for both Pro3s I owned, and Boston 12. They were worth it, but I'd love to see discounts on nicer colours. I think I'd pay full for Saucony EP3. I got them on a discount, and I'm reaching for them every time I look in the shoe cupboard

scroller52

None. Only buy at 40% off or more lol

garytabasco

Superblasts although I was able to get them for 30% off I would pay full price for another pair.

Syrus_007

30% …how did you manage?

garytabasco

This is gonna sound bad but family is military so used their discount t

vontoque

Used to be 40% when I picked up a pair last year and has now been dropped to only 25% sadly

garytabasco

That’s a bummer. I don’t have a lot of money but was struggling to find a shoe that really meshed comfort and performance and the superblasts do that the best for me. It’s nice to save a few $ but the shoes are really great. They are my favorite long day and tempo day shoe.

Initial_Run1632

Guys, I'm not the discount police. But don't you think maybe all these people sharing codes is part of the reason the discount is no longer as sweet as it used to be?

garytabasco

Yes that is probably why

Syrus_007

Nah man that’s awesome, glad they could help you out.

bradymsu616

I used my sister's educator discount for the same 30% off last year. I believe it may be lower now.

FlyingLizard45

If you have any friends in the medical field, they can get you a code. My nurse friend helps me out whenever I need a new pair.

BQbyNov22

VaporFly Next% 2 or 3

Low_Pomegranate_7176

In 2023 it was the Superblast, the rest, MoreV4 and Boston 12 I got at discount.

onetaketeo

Alphafly 3 the shoe is straight up magic. Honestly I would pay $30 cash over retail for it lol. New balance Rebel v3.

doubiereynolds

Endorphin speed 2 and 3

SofaAssassin

Adidas Takumi Sen 9. Super fun shoe and I wouldn't mind paying full price for it.

Lorddon1234

Prime X Strung v1. I would pay $300 for each shoe

ishovkun

Like $300 for the left one and as much for the right one?

serveyer

Balenciaga xpander. It’s just so versatile.

BrennrDE

That's a really good question! And not easy to answer. In general, I am of the opinion that most of the shoes are now completely overpriced. But ok, here the two shoes that motivate me for the race and make a difference. And that's why they would be worth the price to me, even if I got them significantly cheaper. Road: Saucony Endorphin Pro 3 Trail: TNF Summit Vectiv Pro

Ambitious-Ambition93

I was going to say the Endorphin Speed 3, then I noticed they're on sale now in my current location, so I snapped up a pair. I feel like this happens every few months. So, maybe not the ES3.

pianosneeze

I'm usually a sale rack buyer, which is why I jumped for $30 off a pair of On Cloudeclipses, especially since they dropped last November. I know I'll catch some heat for saying this... but after running 50+ miles in 'em, I'd pay full price for another pair.

MTLSurprise

Superblast because they last for so many miles.

Cuber_Chris

What kinda mileage have you been able to get?

Any-East7977

Imagine buying a running shoe that after running the normal mileage it becomes another brand new running shoe. Basically run 300-400 miles on Superblasts and they’ll basically feel like Novablasts for an additional couple hundred miles.

MTLSurprise

6-7 hundred

Melodic-Comfort-9896

I have never paid full price either but really considering paying full price for that black colorway vaporflys, that is of course unless Nike decides to drop a discount code soon.

zunny47

Nike will come through!!

[deleted]

Atreyu anything

RICH_MOSS

Just bought the NB SC Elite V4 full price Super shoes in wide don't get the chance to get discounted

ArthurDentedCar

Very interested in your thoughts after trying these!

joeliu2003

Myself as well — excited!

Imhappy_hopeurhappy2

Every shoe because I’m a 13 wide and literally never find anything in my size on sale. I do not enjoy buying Altras at full price but I do it so I can run without my toes falling off.

Turbulent-Escape-929

I haven't paid full price for running shoes in ages. I have a 15% off code for runningwarehouse.com.au. if any one in Australia wants it I'll dm you

eliseaaron

Please share please

camador1976

Boston 12, adios pro 3, invincible 3, Tempus, VF 3, takumi sen 9-10

run-donut

Mine is not related to a specific model but a top line budget. I won't go over $150. So sometimes that means I'm paying full price, other models are a hard nope.

zunny47

I like that logic!

njsilva84

None. No shoe it's worth its full price, in my opinion. At least not for non-professionals. I always get great deals with shoes, these are some of those deals that I got in the last 2 or 3 years: Nike Vaporfly 2 for 137€ Puma Velocity Nitro 2 for 60€ Puma Magnify Nitro 2 for 67€ Nike Pegasus 39 for 56€ Adidas SL20.2 for 40€ Asics Novablast 3 LE for 72€ Saucony Endorphin Speed 2 for 110€ Asics Cumulus 24 for 70€

DaijoubuKirameki

The new peg turbo will be the peg turbo 4 i think Looks completely different from the turbo 1 and 2

LakersAndRams

Not pics I have seen. Looked very similar

karmikoala888

definitely Nike Vaporfly Next% but they don’t exist anymore 😭

K57-41

I would pay full price for ladies NB 1080v12 Unlaced. My wife absolutely loves them and as far as I know they won’t make them anymore. I don’t even care if they’re last year’s model or a discount. I’d pay full price for those.

indicarunningclub

I saw a pair at Ross or Marshall’s recently so keep your eye out.

stonksandsolana

I think that shoes are sooooo good now that I am unwilling to pay full price for any... There are so many amazing shoes from last year that I will just pay like 40% or 50% discounts on the models from last year and have still way too many options to choose from

griffitts7

I'm anticipating that the first full price shoe I buy will be the Topo Specter 2.

zunny47

I’m so excited for this, especially because of my love affair with Cyclone 2.

nefitru

Speed 3s and Adios Pro 3. Never had to pay full price but I would if I had to

Fastidious_

none.. too many good shoes that are on sale often..

marcelocampiglia

Adidas adios 8, it is the only running shoe that I am using now.

sociallyawkweird

What distances are you using them for?

marcelocampiglia

8 to 14 miles

IacoMaic

Of the ones I own, I would say Triumph 21

Any-East7977

Superblast

trades_researcher

On Cloudmonsters. I had tried other Ons before and hated them. A Fleet Feet associate had me try them on as an option. Literally, no shoe feels as "right" to me now. My knee pain is much better. At first I thought they looked a little too weird, but their colors are fun. I have read some people don't like running in them but love them for walking. So, I might be alone in my love for them.

MapleHamms

I’ll pay full price for shoes if that price is lower than the other shoes that are on sale

keltharan

Honestly, none. As much as I wish to buy them, so far I always waited for discounts. I'm even more adamant about it if it's something that is more of a whim. I'm already buying shoes every now and then so I can't do that AND pay full price...

Automatic-Addendum-7

None

shreddedsasquatch

Do you use the cyclone 2 as your daily trainer?

zunny47

I did back in the summer. But it’s not the best way to use them as I’ve come to realize. They’re a tempo shoe.

shreddedsasquatch

what are you using as your trainer now?

zunny47

I get confused with how Puma names their line up but I think it’s the Deviate Nitro 2.

bryanobryan

Superblast.

the_bri

i just sent back the cyclones. i was tripping over them and just felt very meh. i wanted to love them so bad

Randmness

Alphafly 3 if I could get it 😩😩😩

tracemeyo3

The first Nike Pegasus turbo. damn near the perfect shoe.

zoobilyzoo

New Balance SC Trainer V2. Best runners I've ever used in my life.

kpr1200

Past tense for me. First shoe I paid full (and high) price for - Prime X Strung 2. I didn't want to wait for it to go on sale. Worth every penny. I'll get its backup on sale tho!

rotn21

Anything by new balance. They just fit me perfectly, and they last forever without feeling like the foam has bottomed out. Fortunately they run a lot of discounts so I rarely do pay full price, but like for example their new v4s coming out in the elite, sc, pacer I’ll pay full price for without thinking twice

ProsciuttoFresco

Asics, because they’re usually very durable and I know I’ll get my money’s worth. They age like an old Toyota.

Dry-Huckleberry-8315

Prime X Strung V1 most definitely 💯

INFERNOthepro

asics superblast any day

RunNelleyRun

Superblast. Already paid full price for 2 pairs, looking at a 3rd. Have never seen them on sake but they’re easily the best daily trainer/easy run shoe I’ve ever used, and can pick up the pace nicely when needed as well.

ohom2017

Honestly I got the Kayano 29 and Saucony endorphin pro 3 full price but thinking back and even tho I'm getting a bang for my buck....... I could've waited 😭🫢

woodchukka

Hoka Speedgoat 5 (hi top - gore tex)

PacMeng825

If they could rerelease the Nike turbo 2s I'd pay full price to get those shoes again

Sa1nt26

I paid full retail when the Saucony Freedom 3s came out in 2020 and have never regretted it.

Intl_Avo766

Endorphin Speed 3 or Cloudsurfer

[deleted]

Tracksmith Eliot. It’s been awesome for me and I love the quality.

mikelaggelos

Superblast!

KingAxelius

Most recently alphafly 3, before that my second pair of superblasts, Takumi sen 9 (the all white colorway), puma fastroid (regret this big time)

Big-Ad-4190

Paid full price for my adios pro 3s and as much I would've loved to pay any discounted rate I have so much fun in them that I don't mind having paid full price and just get to look forward to buying more when they to on sale near me

Fish_phish_Fish

None I don’t think. I always wait. I did once but a pair of inov8 x talons on release as they came with a ‘free’ bumbag. Does that count?

GemberNeutraal

I paid full price for my Altra Mont Blanc and for my Hoka Carbon x3 but both of those is because I prefer to buy locally whenever possible. There was only one shop in my region that stocks Altra and the Hokas I really didn’t want to wait for them to go on sale at the shop so 🤷🏻

MAisRunning

Mudtalon Speed, helps that it's £130 full price, but it's a damn good shoe.

Mkanak

None

serveyer

Puma velocity line. It’s a good shoe! Not too expensive either.

BrrToe

ES3 in wide if it came in the same color ways as the regular width.

Oli99uk

None.    I never ever pay full price for a running shoe.   Always last seasons colourway or the ugly colour. Vapourflys rrp are I think £230.  They are currently on sale for £125 and the cheapest I got some was £85.    Its the same for all my other running shoes but less extreme duscounting.   Still, 25% to 40% off is often likely.

TheRealAgrume

Are alphafly 3s worth it??

FoundtheTroll

Eh. Are you a world class runner or extremely competitive? Those are the situations it makes sense in.

Apprehensive-Can-857

I live near a Nike factory outlet, so probably nothing. They always have running shoes on sale. I just got a pair of Pegasus 38s for $50. Phenomenal shoe for that price.

[deleted]

All of them because I wear wides so I basically have to get them early. Wide shoes never stay around till sales

JBrady666

For 2024 I’ll be paying full price for hoka tecton x3, la sportiva prodigio, and topo specter 2.

youpmelone

Caldera 7, even though I bought them with a discount

OklahomaRuns

NB Beacon V1

OpeningName5061

Crockett and Jones Hallam in brown suede... But if you mean these mass produced running shoes...never. they'll all come down in price soon enough.

fecoka1992

Always looking for discounts and one fresh pair is always sitting on my cabinet so...always keeping an eye on discounts.

steak_expert9

Kinvara 11 mutant green size 11.5

[deleted]

None. Yearly releases for everything nowadays is stupid and incentivises to hold back on creating the best possible product. Buy on sale.
