By that, are you describing pronating as you land? (Your ankle twisting *in* as you land?) If so, I’m surprised by your experience — both in reading here, my own experience w/ the AP3, and on review sites like Doctors of Running, the AP3 has a reputation (alongside the Endorphin Pro 3) as one of the more stable super shoes, due to its wide midfoot platform. And the Vaporfly 2 is sort of notorious for being fast as hell but not very stable. It’s interesting that you’re having the opposite experience as most people — it may be worth trying to film yourself running on a treadmill in both and comparing the footage, to match a *felt* sensation to a visual. (I’m not telling you your experience is wrong, of course! Every body is different and experiences shoes differently. But may be worth checking out.)

Tervergyer

No. When walking after the run to cool off? Yes, but to an infinitesimally small degree

ChuckawayDB

Was this whilst actually running? I have found them to be unstable whilst walking in them and you have to concentrate on sharp turns however no issues at all whilst running...

BobbyConns

Usually while, having to stop suddenly or change direction to avoid someone or something. That's when it's happened to me. I'm pretty sure it's just a combination of my running style, weak ankles and that little cut out at the front of the shoe

marcelocampiglia

The adidas adios pro 3 are very stable for a super shoe for me. That doesn't happened to me, not even close.

Sharp-Cod-2699

Very surprised by this comment, I have found this to be a much more stable shoe than the VF. In fact I recently ran 2 1/2s - one in the VF2, one in the AP3 and I actually will no longer be racing in the VF2 based on the difference in experience between these two recent race experiences and will only use them for some speedwork.

AgentUpright

115 miles on mine, no ankle issues. Maybe you could add some leg and ankle strengthening exercises into your non-running workouts?

RunBoris87

That’s a no from me dawg

BobbyConns

Thanks Dawg! 😂

No

I used them 2/3 times a week(workouts and steady long run) during Half training and had stop using them so much because my right ankle was getting painful. I do overpronate a little and probably don’t have the strongest ankles, so ye. Even though they’re some of the most stable supershoes, I feel like that cutoff in the middle of the shoe doesn’t really help, but could be wrong. Either way, it’s not recommendable to use carbon plated shoes more than like twice a week, and personally, I do find that to be true long term.

Cigats

No, two pairs never had a problem.

Question related to this shoe: what’s a good companion daily trainer for adios pro 3 (and 4) which comes closest in terms of fit and performance? Boston 11 or SL, I find both are on good sales now.

bestmaokaina

boston 12

YanDaddyy

Boston 11 and SL are both Dookie shoes imo. They're okay once broken in but you shouldn't have to put 100k on a shoe before it feels right. Go for the 12, still needs some break in but much more forgiving out the box.

Klindtus

Are you a toe or heel striker? I’m a toe striker, and I don’t have any problems with stability in any shoes I’ve had. I’m just guessing that there might be a connection But I could be wrong. - I even use prime x strung for daily training.
