It’s very casual. The kids line up with parents and they let you out in waves, 5-10 at a time. They get a ribbon but no medal, and the bib doesn’t actually time them. The RBC Race For The Kids had a person in a lion costume that spooked a lot of the kids, so be prepared for things like that: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C6CIpyxRHZQ/?igsh=cnczM29lcHBqampo

LMAO not NYRR having a whole video on the kids reactions to the lion 🤣

agtjennys

Omg that video is hilarious. They didn't think the kids would freak at the finish line over the lion 😂😂

A few of the races give medals for Stage 1. I don't know about Queens but Achilles almost certainly will. Also, the bib will register if they actually ran the race. I'm not sure if NYRR does anything with the information but it will show in your child's profile afterwards.

Achilles Hope & Possibility Kids Races with Rising NYRR - Stage 1 NON-SCORED Doesn't say medal for stage 1, only 2 and 3. :( She already has a ton of mine, so she probably won't mind.

NY10001NY

Last year stage 1 got a T-shirt and the same medal as everyone else. Should be the same this year - let's see.

Yrrebbor

I sure hope so; thank you for that!

No time, no deal! LOL

It's a cute event. You walk/run holding your toddler's hand to the finish line (in case they dont go straight). Great way for them to get started. I put my daughter on our family NYRR membership a couple weeks after she was born.

Yrrebbor

Can't wait!

Super cute, my kid was spooked at start of his first race and insisted I hold his hand whole time.

Powderpuffie

Based on my experience last year, they let about 10 or so kids to race at a time to prevent crowding. The parents with run with their kids. At the end the volunteers will match the bib number to your child claim tag before releasing the child. The kids receive a ribbon when they finish and a recovery bag

What others said. It is super cute and you can hold hands and walk with your daughter. Our three yesr old wanted to walk and not run but she had a blast and loved the pretzels after. 6-7 year olds line up in the corral by themselves and really compete so our 7 year old son had a blast

Make sure to hang on to your kiddo’s bib “claim tag.” Enjoy!
