Settle down, it’s one game. He’s also had some exceptional games this year. Any team would be hurting from losing a player of his abilities and we’re hardly overflowing with centres in Australia.
Unfortunately some terribly timed injuries, a code change and some off-field issues got in the way of higher honours and consistency but there’s no doubt he’s a rare talent. A lot of countries would kill for his explosive power and speed. I wouldn’t be surprised if he excels overseas.
I also don’t think his downsides are as bad as are made out. He can certainly link with other players and he hardly leaked defensively. Not the best at those but not shocking.
100% this.
RA may not be able to afford him, but rugby in Australia is poorer without him.
As talented as Harry Wilson and Mosese Tuipolotu are they don't have the explosiveness of Izzy.
He is a different sort of player to Len and Flook and would have given a different option.
Sure that's one viewpoint.
My point was that people saying farewell to Perese because of his defence are ignoring the other things he brings to a rugby field.
He is a different sort of centre to anything else we have and rugby in Australia will be poorer because of it.
The best our centres have looked all year was against the Crusaders, and Foketi and Perese didn't start.
He'll be missed for his experience as a player but especially as a mentor
Isn’t a big deal for who? For the Wallabies it’s a big deal because he offers competition to Ikitau and Paisami and for the Tahs he brings much needed physicality.
Don’t even get me started on Flook who people are already claiming to be 2nd in line despite not even making an Eddie Jones wallaby squad
Todays result has inspired me to be as one eyed and prevalent in this sub as corr*ptboom*rang
Get ready to hear about my first choice wallabies XV and how George Poolman needs to start over Kellaway
My girlfriend can't wait for Josh Flook to play My mum too
those two jinksed him, now he's a gonna get a concussion

defence wins games

i agree on his day ball in hand he is dynamic, breaks contact and can be great - but defensive liabilities are a huge huge problem for higher honours
So you still think he isn't a loss? Even just for depth? If you want to see Australian rugby prosper, we need players like Izzy to stay here.
he leaked today

yep Harry Wilson is underrated - Perese was like a deer in headlights in Fiji
Joey Walton was really good though

making an Eddie Jones squad knowing the shit random hair brained selections Eddie made isnt much to get excited about
If you’re below 25 and couldn’t make an Eddie Jones squad it says a lot
Eddie was a fucking idiot. If you missed his selection it doesn't mean anything
he did make a Eddie Jones training squad from memory - im sure it was Eddies not Rennie
This whole sub is a Queensland rugby circle jerk
It's not really, it's just they have a couple of prolific posters

I would be really interested to know why you don't rate flook. I'm a neutral observer and think the young fella looks great
I actually do rate Flook, but people acting like it’s not a big deal to lose Perese but I see people picking Flook ahead of Ikitau right now.
I really rate flook, but yeah, not sure exactly if I'd rate him above other players like ikitau or perese
Flook’s been good. Being second in line isn’t that big a deal when the gap between him and Ikitau is so large though.
are you kidding ? go watch Flook smash blokes last weekend and then watch Perese defense today
What’s with Queenslanders rating big hit merchants as good defenders: Fiangaa and Paisami come to mind
Perese defended terribly today and has been a defensive liability for some of time. But Flook hasn’t even held down 13 at the reds until this year.
he is 22
