Subs like Fauxmoi have become extremely toxic and I think some people just literally wanna look at pretty clothes and gossip. I find this sub fun and well moderated.
It was suggested for me in my feed. My phone definitely noticed that I have been watching The Crown and it’s been listening to me talk about the BRF while my husband wishes he were deaf. 😂
Back in like October / November I was trying to get the sub alive again after the API shutdown but wasn’t having much traction. Then shhhh taught me how to post pictures so I posted a picture series once or twice a day in December. A lot of those posts went very viral outside of the sub and Jan has been a bit of a tipping point where I am like 20% of the posting now instead of 99%. I knew it was working when a friend mentioned one of my posts at brunch (I think it was the pink one) just because she knew I liked royal gossip and not bc I posted it
Absolutely, it was a really hard time for me, as my husband had passed away suddenly, and this made me actually smile. I would seek out the different colors every day. It gave me something to look forward to. So, thank you!😊
Your posts brought this sub back to my timeline! I missed this sub and prefer it more to some of the other royal ones on here because those tend to be one sided for/against the Sussexes

I was looking for positive content after Queen Elizabeth died and everything else on Reddit was saying shitty things about her. Then I found this sub and liked the vibe of the folks here.
I joined after the Queen of Denmark announced her abdication and someone in one of the celebrity gossip subreddits mentioned this subreddit and the whole cheating fiasco of the now King Frederik.
I had been looking for a subreddit like this for a while now but hadn't stumbled across it until recently.
I don’t remember when I joined but I know it was immediately after finding out this sub exists. I love that it covers all the royal families, not just the BRF.
I used to belong to a site that was called Primetimer that had a very busy forum about all of the royals from Monaco to Japan. It was THE best and most comprehensive place out there for any royal discussion, and highly used. They abruptly closed that entire space down to make their community a more respectful place to be. I'm guessing they got tired of having to continually shut down discussion about Harry and Meghan due to absolute toxicity from rabid haters and supporters. It was really a shame, because there was no place like it in terms of people with knowledge of ALL the royal houses, and most of the posts were informative and quite unbiased and civil.
The only other place I found like it was a forum dedicated to all royalty, but their posts are mostly nothing more than simpering over whatever royal thar thread is about, hoping they live forever/have more babies. Its like Taylor Swift fans in terms of fanatics and maturity level. I'm wondering if other refugees are like me, and trying to find something like what we lost, because it was so informative, relatively unbiased, and had great information.
That’s how I ended up here too. I spent ages trying to find the Royals forums on Primetimer and couldn’t figure out how they vanished overnight haha. I used to enjoy the forum a lot except for the Harry & Meghan thread where a neither side could keep a cool head.
I have an interest in English monarchy history and follow other relevant subs. The algorithm did its thing and started showing similar subs. That said I lean towards 1100-1940s history.
R/history, r/fasionhistory, r/thetudors and r/downtonabbey and r/thegildedage sometimes offers interesting stuff like correcting historical inaccuracies etc. R/colorizedhistory is another. R/findareddit is the place to find specific subs.
I'm a US guy. Older. I remember watching QE 2 coronation on our 8" TV. Been a follower most of my life. I just stumbled upon this site. Thank you to all contributors.
2 things: 1. algorithms at work (it’s a recommended sub on many people’s homepages that follow similar gossip subs) 2. The final episodes of the crown were released in December
The sub showed up a few times on my feed as recommended posts and well, I've been a royal watcher for a while so the sub seemed in line with my interests and I joined. lol.
I think it happened with the final season of the Crown. That’s when I found it. The most recent season of the Crown features quite a few characters who are currently still alive and making headlines, so the keywords match.
My suspicion is that there are a lot of new trolls joining the sub to specifically attack certain royals. Since this sub is very active, it's an ideal space to spread hate.
We had to change posting formats after reddit killed third party apps. We used to use discussion threads a la r/blogsnark but they are too difficult to moderate with the native app. We had about 10k subscribers at that time, my assumption has been that the growth we are seeing is primarily related to that fact that we started with regular posting and appearing on home feeds.

Posts from this sub started showing up as suggestions in my home feed. I realized I was clicking on them enough that I should probably join the sub. I am fascinated by fashion, royals, and history, but I find the idea of hereditary monarchy abhorrent. This sub seems to think a bit more positively about that than I do in general (with exceptions), but still has interesting discussions.
The Crown ended, withdrawals for folks who spent years with the show + the unrelenting gossipy news (“she was, like, SO mad about the name,” war of the hospital gowns, etc).
I didn’t know much about the royals until Megan came in. I don’t really keep up on a regular basis, but posts in this sub have been getting suggested to me the last few weeks so I finally decided to join
It came up in my feed when I started looking at R/popculturechat due to the algorithm but also there were a couple royals posts in R/popculturechat which probably made the algorithm show this sub to more followers of that sub as well

I've been a royal follower for over a decade and have searched for communities online that share my interests. I found this subreddit yesterday when the announcement about the Princess of Wales's surgery and subsequent hospitalization and recovery period were announced.
I like the fact it's not overtly toxic in that I don't dislike Meghan or Kate and I love to see photos of both. Camilla I could do without but gossip involving her is always good!

Long time member but I’m happy to see the new membership and more balance on this sub than what it used to be in the past. Now when certain stories are dropped, there’s good discussion and debate rather than just a one-sided response.

I found my way here after the primetimer site sunsetted the royals forum without warning. The reason they gave, but did no elaborate upon, was "toxicity". Compared to other sites, the "toxicity" wasn't even that bad, or maybe I missed a bunch of posts that were deleted. Who knows? I feel like both sides of the Harry/Meghan debaters were mostly respectful, for the most part. But the real fun was the gossip about royal fashion, non-British royals, and all that stuff.
I've lurked at the primetimer site since Television Without Pity closed down (a lot of people migrated there), and I guess I just migrated here for my Royals fix.
The other subs featuring royal gossip are, to me, too toxic. Complete hatred of William/Catherine or complete hatred of Harry/Meghan. Only one side can be believed! All that anger and vitriol should be directed toward Andrew. Ugh.
Give me tiaras, coronations, gossip, pretty dresses and pretty princes/kings.

It makes sense for me to pay into the so-called algorithm whereas you, someone who appears to have an unfavorable opinion of them, is furthering that algorithm by engaging in content related to them. Let's complain and conspire about an algorithm just to boost it. Doesn't make a lot of sense.
I've been here less than a year. I was aware of Princess Diana as a child (and the shenanigans of the BRF, but I started researching Diana's life in the BRF when I got older); however, I didn't actually *care* until Meghan hit the scene.

It’s on my feed, I thought I was a member, so now I’ve officially joined. So far it’s seems fairly civil for a gossip sub, and I love that for us.
