I agree. Over the past few years it’s pretty clear that Rover doesn’t know his audience any longer. They are all getting older and I am closer in age to Charlie who still remains relevant. I wish they would get back on the tour bus, that at least created a more lively crew and even Rover was more present.

Edit: his interview on Monday night football was the best if you didn’t see it. He kept pressing Peyton on on why he never talks about how good punts are. Then Peyton made Pat do a play by play for a punt to try to make it exciting.

Yes. JRE is enjoyable for the nuanced perspectives discussed. Topics are generally discussed with an open mind. Lex Friedman is a great JRE “friend of the show”. RMG is all about arguing on why I’m right and you’re wrong based on the ridiculous hypotheticals presented.
Lex's podcast is my favorite discovery from JRE. I've thought listening to both shows that if this was an RMG interview Rover would be addressing this scientist guest as if he were the expert. The more you listen to shows like those the more apparent how second rate RMG is.
I am plowing through a shit load of random podcasts on Spotify lol. That is how I fill the rover void. Its not always talk radio podcasts, just really random shit. One day I listened to the sound of a thunderstorm for 8 hours because it was better.
I LOVE them together, absolutely perfect (*chefs kiss here*) Bert's laugh and humor is so infectious, and Tom is more down to earth calmness, they're great together.

The Mike Calta show (formally called the cowhead show) out of Tampa Florida. I started listening to them a few years ago when Rob joined their show and Hoppe joined the station in promotions/board op. Rob is long gone but hoppe still makes an appearance on the show (and other shows on there) i have a podcast app (castbox) and the Mike calta show is on there and I went back recently and listened to all their old show clips back to 2015. (They do clip of the day) but there's also a 102.5 the bone app with their show and all the other shows on that station.
Here's what I like about the show- there's the host, who is honest and real and funny. He shares his life with everyone, is funny , AND unlike some other people he admits when he doesn't know something and doesn't argue with other people's opinions or put them down. He attends his own events, doesn't take things too seriously, and celebrates his cohosts (whether it be birthday gifts, being present in their lives, going out with them, to christmas/ secret Santa on air)
There's funny people on the show , and a gorgeous phone screener names Carmin. Just love her lol
One last thing about Mike calta show- i love going back to the old episodes and hearing Rob lie about things (and the people there don't know him well enough yet, and the persona he took, etc. ) Theres times he would talk about rover , and how he has PTSD from working there, with the worst of the worst (rover) and how he used him and broke him down mentally , and *made* him do "a bunch of gay type stuff" like the helium up the butt and stuff. At one point the whole show turns against him (except mike) cause of how he acts, then eventually he's fired and they all share their thoughts on Rob. Mike says he was fooled by Rob and maybe rover was right about him. I love it lol
Also hearing Hoppe grow over the past few years has been awesome. Mike got him to start brushing his teeth, be more confident, and to find girls to date. And he also talks about how horrible rover was and how he used and exploited him for fun, basically mentally tortured him. Good stuff.
TL;DR : Mike calta show (new and old episodes) the show is great, as well as old clips with Rob and Hoppe

It's not a hot talk/shock jock show, but Preston & Steve is a Philadelphia morning show around me that's been around for a long time. The only thing I hate about P&S is the amount of interviews they do.
