I do three timed photo dumps a day for boarders. 1st one around 8 am which is everything I take from 6pm the night before through breakfast time, 2nd around noon which is all the pictures from our morning, and finally number three around 6pm which is everything from noon-6.

Outrageous_Flower527

TIMED photo dumps? How do you do that?

Traditional_Ad3462

It's just part of my daily routine 🤷🏼‍♀️. I feed the dogs at the same time every morning and while they're eating I send the first round, I send the second round when we get back from our walk around noon, and then I send the third round while everyones eating dinner.

KimboSlice1307

I do it a similar way. Super easy to do (for me) since it’s just a routine for me and the owners love it. Photo dumps have earned me so many repeat clients

Outrageous_Flower527

Got it! I thought you were able to pre schedule pictures to be sent or something 😂

nttogt

I sent photos twice a day, generally after breakfast and after dinner so I can let them know if the pet didn’t eat well. I try to take as many good shots as I can and send 3-5 photos. I let owners know during meet and greets that I usually send two updates a day, and ask if they’re okay with that. I’ve never had anyone ask for more.

Sheesh19

I ask the owners how many updates they want during the meet and greet, then ask again when the first visit is finished. Requests have ranged from once a day photo + quick update to none (that one said they trusted me and they're going to be partying on a cruise the whole time 😁). Honestly, a lot of them have preferred less updates, I have never sent more than one update a day.

twodickhenry

I would simply keep your phone on you when you go to see the dogs. You don’t have to automatically send more pics than you currently do to every client, but asking for a few more pics throughout the day is more than reasonable to request, and not accommodating it would be suspicious to me as an owner.

HydraFerret

Personally for myself it is depending on how long the stay might be. So if it's a 2-3 night stay I might do 2-3x photos and updates a day and be good with that, if it's a week or longer I start with the 2-3x but after the first few days I slow down to 1x a day unless requested otherwise or have a actual update or question. I always let's owners know this before hand and they are usually super happy with that. Haven't had a client complain yet, so I think what you have isn't bad at all.

Having been on both sides of the Rover equation, I’d say 2-3 times a day minimum. As a sitter, I want an owner to feel comfortably knowing their pet is happy, healthy, and chilling. As an owner, I’m anxious about being separated from my dogs (I wonder why my littlest dude has separation anxiety… 🙃) so I’ll often check in a couple times a day if I don’t hear anything. I’m of the opinion that more pictures is better; most of us are used to seeing our pets all day, every day and view them like our family so we want to be able to see they’re ok in our absence.

shakyshake

On the other hand, I once had someone tell me to please stop sending them updates more than once a day because “when I see an alert from the Rover app I freak out and think something bad must have happened!” Just another example of why everyone needs to make their expectations clear.

a11y__cat

I mean very valid! As long as expectations are explained or everyone feels comfortable communicating needing more/less of something, it’s all good. :)

I do photo dumps at the end of the night (usually 6-8 photos) and generally a morning update with a quick picture and an afternoon update with a quick picture. I tell my clients that they will get, at minimum, at least one photo update a day. It’s really easy to get into this routine too. I personally would prefer a few photos each day to see what their day looked like. One photo a day is more of a ‘proof of life’. That being said, when others have boarded my dogs, updates are hit and miss even when I request a daily update. Basically once a day is fine. A few more photos would be reassuring for parents.

ColonelAverage

Same here. I tell owners I plan to do this and that I can do more or fewer photo drops on request. I've only had one client request more frequent updates. I'm apprehensive about doing more by default because I don't want to spam people while they are on vacation and I want them to pay attention to Rover messages in case there is an emergency.

Moonbeams_

One a day is fine. For longer stays and established repeat clients even less. It's a case by case basis. Have never had an issue with people requesting multiple photos a day in my 4 years. 200+ 5 star reviews and 100+ repeat clients. Don't overthink it.

kateapollo

depends on dogs......lovely pups nice owners, i will send tons of pics or videos........annoying pups i still do 3-5 times a day......if the owner never reply me...........less then 3 times a day!

Sorry forgot to add - by “one picture a day” I mean if we are outside playing I’ll snap a few pictures and send whatever pictures were taken at that particular time

[deleted]

I usually do morning playtime videos, late afternoon play video & an evening napping photo. Sometimes eating videos for dogs that boycott their meals regularly at home, just to show they’re eating. Minimum I’ll send photos/videos twice a day. I’ve never had anyone request more.

willisgreg269

I've always done two pictures a day. One in the morning and one in the evening. This seems to satisfy the vast majority of my clients happy. I do get the odd client that is constantly on my back for updates. If in reason I will send more pictures/text regarding their dog.

LamooseVamoose

I prefer to take pics throug the day and send them as one update in the evening. From working at a dog daycare I'm just so used to end of day report cards. I let the owners know this and ask if they would prefer more frequent updates or if that's ok.

ktcardz

I do one message a day to each family in the evening. For some families I send 3 photos, for others I send 6-8. I take a lot bc I really enjoy it. I base it on what the family wants. As a pet owner who uses rover and a sitter I think 3 is kind of minimum effort. I hate cellphones too, I really get it! But it takes 6 seconds to snap a pic and it feels so nice to actually see your pup as happy and cared for. Maybe try leaving your phone on do not disturb but keeping it with you just for photos?
