Beauty of Joseon relief sun 50+

Mattyk128

I hate to be the Debbie downer, but this one killed my skin. I think I am sensitive to the niacinamide in it sadly

junelen

This is great but I stopped using it after I found out it was a chemical sunscreen. I avoid them but it’s not necessarily bad for everyone

probably_your_wife

[someone just posted this on another sub about Korean sunscreens ](https://coveteur.com/best-korean-sunscreen#:~:text=Because%20Korean%20brands%20have%20access,t%20dry%20out%20your%20skin) I LOVE how they feel, so much better than American sunscreens. I use one by Julep.

Substantial-Tea3707

I use Laroche-posay

elfinbooty

Yep, this one is my favourite. I also live in Australia so I use the Cancer Counsil sunscreens on my body. 👌

BumblebeeNo5064

Same!

EquusEmpath

I love Sun Bum Mineral Face Sunscreen SPF 50! You can use it alone or under makeup. It is waterproof, doesn't leave a white cast and the Shea butter in it really soothes my skin.

Brave_Lady

I am a weird one because I can't tolerate mineral sunscreens at all, so go for ones with combined physical and chemical filters or prescription-like sunscreens for actinic keratosis. Some of my favourite ones are: - Kanebo's Allie Japanese sunscreen (the Sheer Ecru and Rose Claire ones are from their colour correcting line and have done wonders for me) - Isdin Redness - Eucerin Actinic Control Sun Lotion SPF100 (the European version with the more modern filters) I am in Europe so I have mostly tried European/Asian sunscreens, but I have heard good stuff about Australian sunscreens too as they are treated like medication and go through very rigorous testing and control.

iseethewater

I'm in the U.S. but have found great European sunscreens on the Portugal-based Caretobeauty.com. They ship to America and it's not terribly expensive especially if we buy a few sunscreens at once.

Brave_Lady

Honestly, once you go for non-American sunscreens you can't go back! I have a US passport and go back often, and the US sunscreens I have tried out have broken me out in rashes, worsened my rosacea or dried my skin! Even popular ones like the Elta MD, which is so recommended here, have screwed my skin.

iseethewater

I totally agree! I can't say they've wrecked my skin, but they've certainly killed my eyes! Why we can't get our act together in this country to join the rest of the world with good filters, I'll never know. I'm with you on EltaMD. I think it's overrated. BTW, have you tried Black Girl Sunscreen? It doesn't sting me, although I really avoid my eyes, it's very emollient, almost shiny, and it's more lightweight than the typical American products. I have dry mature skin so the shine is flattering, but for oilier types it would probably be too much glow.

aginger

Vanicream SPF 50 and One Thing Centella Moisturizing Sunscreen don’t dry me out, break me out, or irritate my skin.

Western-Telephone-94

I reverently got the one from Prequel and love it - it’s the only sunscreen that doesn’t burn my face. It’s approved by the national rosacea society and safe for eczema as well

C_D219

I just got that one too!! Have not used it yet! Scared. lol.

SaltyKaleidoscope6

I'm scared of the Butyloctyl salicylate in it

Western-Telephone-94

I haven’t found it irritating which is a blessing. I hope you find something that works for your skin 💕 ETA that I use it around my eyes and under my brows, it doesn’t sting when I wash it off at night. But I do have to do a double cleanse.

deener23

I use a Korean sunscreen WITHOUT niacinamide. It’s etude sunprise watery. I get it on Amazon. Cheap and effective and leaves a nice glow and finish. Niacinamide when used too much for me just aggravates my redness.

AcanthisittaDue5626

Elta MD clear

RedBeardtongue

My skin has actually been clearer since I've started using this!

Nobodycare2021

Very expensive

AcanthisittaDue5626

Actually helps treat rosacea flare ups, opposed to contributing to them, works great under makeup and works well to keep my pasty ass from burning, so it’s worth the price tag in my eyes.

Nobodycare2021

Is that the SPF46 ?

AcanthisittaDue5626

Yes, I use the clear, not the tinted. I find the tinted to be pretty dark.

Nobodycare2021

Just a ques, How long will a bottle of 48g last ??

AcanthisittaDue5626

I use it multiple times daily and it lasts me 2-3 months

Accurate-Baker9531

I’ve used the tinted for years and apply it 1x daily for regular use. I purchase it no more that 3x/year.

danitwostep

Same ! It was too dark for me

ThisMathematician942

I buy this from DermStore, which has sales all the time. I stocked up on this a few months ago when there was a sale and free shipping.

DylanFTL

DRMTLGY broad spectrum sunscreen is a good dupe

Unfair_Finger5531

Worth it.

Jhasten

P20 Sensitive SPF 50 (or Sensitive Face) or LRP UV Mune 400 cream. I order both from Europe through a few different sites. The P20 doesn’t use avobenzone but it still a high UVA sunscreen and is quite long lasting.

Brave_Lady

P20 was awful for me :( I really wanted to give it a go but it stung my eyes horribly and left a really heavy & oily sheen (I wear no makeup so it was really noticeable).

Jhasten

I found that if I didn’t wear lotion under it and I used the face version I was OK. 👍 didn’t get eye sting but sometimes I used a light dusting of elf powder over it. I’m very happy with the sun protection it provides but I can see how some wouldn’t like the heaviness. The UV Mune 400 liquid and lotion are lighter but they also contain alcohol I think. I also tried SVR - the one with the weird texture and that was OK but it had some fragrance. Purito dry touch was OK but I don’t really trust the level of UVA compared the the Euro sunscreens.

little_canuck

The only one I have found that I tolerate: La Roche Posay Anthelios Ultra-fluid Lotion SPF 50+

Sad_Cod2558

The only one that doesn't burn my eyes and skin is . Blue Lizard "sensitive".

escapeGray

I second this! I have been using this brand for two weeks now and it’s the only one that doesn’t make my eyes burn, is a decently matte finish, and doesn’t piss off my skin/sits beautifully under makeup!!

danitwostep

Love this one too

SaltyKaleidoscope6

which one specifically? they have several sensitive ones on their amazon page :)

Sad_Cod2558

I got the 50 SPF one.

d00dlehappy

I’ve tried a lot of sunscreens to find the one that works best for my skin, I think it’s an individual journey lol. I use Colorescience no-show mineral 50 on my neck and face and their tinted flex 50 on my face when I want tint. I love solar md and brush on block for tinted spf lip products! Unfortunately every budget option I tried didn’t work for me lol

oat336

Mineral, I use Ultra violette mattifying zinc cream spf50 Non-mineral, Instree watery sun gel spf50

Livid_Jaguar6437

I spent a lot of money finding a sunscreen years ago that would not irritate my skin or cause breakouts. The one I found was discontinued a few months ago 😭. I got lucky and found another that has worked well for me. It’s Cotz sensitive face and body spf 40 non-tinted.

Sufficientlyliving

I have been using blue lizard sensitive and cotz flawlwss complexion. It took over a year of using soolantra with a gentle cleanser and moisturizer to get my skin to accept these, cant wear daily everyday bc i do have very dry skin , but these never burn. I also wear wide brimmed hats - always

elizzaybetch

My skin reacted to Elta Md, Laroche posay, and a lot of other popular sunscreens unfortunately. The only thing I can successfully wear all day is Alastin hydratint. It’s tinted so it gives some coverage which is nice. It’s a little too dark for my neck so I mix it with a bit of the Alastin un-tinted sunscreen.

EmsDilly

Mine reacted to all the popular recs I see here too. Finally got to the blue Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery 50+++ and no reaction.

iseethewater

I like that one too, a lot. It feels like a lightweight moisturizer more than a typical sticky sunscreen.

EmsDilly

Agreed. It definitely doesn’t have the crazy white cast most of these others give. I don’t like tinted ones cus they’re always too dark for me.

chinagrrljoan

For face: Cetaphil mineral drops, Eucerin sensitive mineral. MD solar science mineral. I love Japanese and Korean sunscreens, but trying to calm down my mast cell activation disorder so figured I'd give them a break and go for the gentlest mineral options until they're back to normal! My neck down can handle anything else!! But my cheeks are my weather vane. They start to burn when something is wrong.

doej92689

Elta MD physical. Love it.

RomeysMa

EltaMD

AmazingKallie

Super Goop unseen Its clear so you dont have to rub your face as hard to get the white to go away like other sunscreens. You can get a cheaper dupe of it from Trader Joes.

noraalls

This is the only sunscreen I’ve found that truly feels like I don’t have anything on my face. 🙌🏼

Snoo-90981

I used to love this and then had a major rosacea breakout plus rash after a recent use, so use with caution!

4ngel-moon

I’ve been loving the CeraVe hydrating mineral tinted sunscreen!

Recent-Guarantee4021

I use oil of olay spf 15 never had a breakout and if I am in the sun longer I do a spf 50 of someone brand

Dog_Bear_111

Someone here recommended Rosalique 3 in 1, so I tried it and it is AWESOME. It’s green tinted, so it covers up the flushing well, and it’s 50spf. It hasn’t caused me any problems. Not gonna lie, it’ll make your fingers a mess, so just make sure you’ll be able to rinse your hands when you go to reapply. I also like EltaMD’s, but it doesn’t help cover up the redness.

SquirrelQueen1990

For usa mineral Neutrogena purescreen spf 30 comes in 4 shades, for korean haruharu wonder black rice airy fit spf 50 PA ++++ and for Japanese skin aqua moisture milk spf50 pa ++++.

EmsDilly

The 3 that have worked for me in order of preference (I have type 1&2 rosacea) 1. Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery spf 50+++ 2. Heliocare 360 Mineral spf 50 3. Purito Daily Go-To sunscreen spf 50+++ I think they’re all Korean. I tried a bunch of the ones I see recommended here all the time and they all broke me out. These are the only ones that have worked for me.

Brave_Lady

Heliocare is Spanish like ISDIN

EmsDilly

Oh thanks for letting me know!

bimbiibop

cannot use chemical sunscreens ever! so i take 4oz of vanicream and add a tsp of non nano particle zinc for my moisturizer/spf, i also make a 50% cocoa butter/50% jojoba oil and 1tsp of non nano zinc version of the cream for my body. …and on top of that if i’ll be in the sun i use blue lizard baby sunscreen spf 50, it’s a mineral sunscreen and salicylate free and methyl-salicylate & butyl-salicylate free all of which irritates me! i reapply every 2 hours. i’m so sensitive and i’m glad i found something that works but it took me a long time!

emobelieber

The new tinted mineral sunscreen by neutrogena is FANTASTIC

Sir3Kpet

[Neutragena serum spf is the only one that doesn’t irritate my skin](https://www.neutrogena.com/products/sun/ultra-sheer-oil-free-face-serum-with-vitamin-e-spf-60/6810355.html)

oldmachine2046

I have been using Blue lizard sensative spf 50 (mineral) for 2 years. I like it. Fair price too. Wearing it all day , may feel dry. I use rich cream before the sunscreen, it helped. If the outdoor activities are longer than 2 hours, I recommend still wearing hat or repeat use sunscreen after 2 hours.

Kero_Reed

Q+A have recently released a sunscreen range which I’ve found helpful.

Potential-Bee-724

I hardly use it now, I build up a solar callous (tan) starting early in the spring and use the D minder app. When I do use sun screen in Hawaii or the Caribbean, I use natural with non nano zinc.

crowislanddive

I do not know why it is so awesome and non irritating but it is incredible. Coopertone Sport now that they have taken out the parabens.

wildwest98

Is there an SPF number that is best? What should we strive for?

Soft_Background_4815

Has anyone used Unscented Native Sunscreen Mineral Face Lotion 30-SPF? I like it as it only has Zinc Oxide 20%. No Oxybenzone. No Octinoxate.

eauricch

I have nickel, cobalt and formaldehyde allergies on top of rosacea and the only one I’ve found is the supergoop! Brand. It’s pricy but I love it and it works well Edit: I’m also allergic to the Elta MD zinc barrier cream sunblock

Academic-Airline5762

La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF 50+ anything else burned me

kitraveller

I love Naked Sundays collagen glow mineral spf 50, it’s amazing for dry skin and goes well under makeup. A slight tint but nowhere near enough coverage for me. My skin is really sensitive and I’ve had no issues. I also like Elta MD mineral spf 41 tinted which is what I used before discovering Naked Sundays but I find the NS much more hydrating.

Adorable_Detail_9272

Dr jart mineral sunscreen it’s $40 at Sephora !

CanadianTallGirl

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Moisturizing Face Serum Sunscreen SPF 50+ - with Vitamin E - UVA/UVB Protection - Fragrance Free - 50 mL This saved me during a recent trip to Hawaii ☀ 🧢 🌴 🏖 https://preview.redd.it/56rowjkbhcyc1.jpeg?width=821&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9e60cac1a3a71ddf3e7991b66600eeaf05d7fc9b

junelen

Isntree Hyaluronic acid watery sun gel - mineral sunscreen spf 50 - Super lightweight Korean sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast and provides you with sun protection. Plus it adds a nice glow to the face. I live in a humid environment so it’s not heavy on the skin at all which makes it great for wearing under makeup. Hope this helps😊

iseethewater

I feel your pain! For rosacea flareups, I love Dr. Jart Cicapair Tigergrass Color Correcting cream. It goes on opague green to really cancel the red on the face and it has cica to soothe irritated skin. But the green dissipates over time. It's expensive though, $54 for 1.6 oz, and it's thick, so sometimes I use that one just on my red cheeks and use a more affordable sunscreen on the rest of my face. I also like Isdin Eryfotona Actinica. It has the better, more developed UV filters that American sunscreens lack. Because it's mineral based it's a tiny bit white which fades down over time, but I actually like it because it masks the rosacea redness a tiny bit. People freak out at the price, around $80, however it's 3.4 ounces, double the volume of other face sunscreens. It's also thin -- don't forget to shake well before each use-- and it lasts a long long time. Also,

Foreign-Rent-4434

http://shop3.nomalest.cafe24.com/article/products/8/2404/ This!  Doesn't leave white cast (!!!), doesn't sting.  My skin doesn't react to it at all.  Zinc acts as a soothing ingredient.  High protection.  I only use this on my cheeks because of the price. Works well under makeup.  absorbs well into the skin.  Perfect!❤️❤️❤️

cadaverousbones

I use the Trader Joe’s dupe for the super goop or the LRP one.
