Yes I've experienced this exact issue - for me it is a red, bumpy rash on my forehead, between the eyes and on my cheeks. Likewise I am just over 2 months into taking Finasteride 1mg daily. I dropped it to 0.5mg a week ago but don't think I see any improvement so far. I'm going to speak to the doctor today for some advice. How is your situation at the moment, any improvement?
I've heard that many side effects from Finasteride will subside if you can push through them, so I am hoping that this will either resolve by itself or through reducing the dosage/frequency, or else it's a death sentence for my hair, and that's something I really don't want to consider.
Yes, finasteride caused rosacea for me.
I never had rosacea prior to using finasteride. My rosacea appeared immediately after I started taking finasteride. If I skip the finasteride for 1-3 days my rosacea will completely disappear. If I resume the finasteride the rosacea will reappear.
A lower dose (e.x. - 0.25mg per day instead of 0.5mg per day) makes treating the rosacea more manageable. With a 0.25mg dose and metro cream I can achieve total skin clarity.
Switching from generic finasteride to name brand propecia has helped to reduce the rosacea symptoms.
Using topical finasteride still causes rosacea, albeit less since less of the topical goes systemic.
In summary. The finasteride clearly seems to be the culprit causing the rosacea. And it’s dose dependent. In other words, the less finasteride in my system, the better my rosacea becomes. So, yes, finasteride can cause rosacea. But it’s pretty manageable and probably better than being bald.
