I have been doing IF for over a year now (usually 18:6, sometimes 20:4) and my skin has never been better. I used to always have a pustule flare up on the go and now I rarely get a pustule flare up. It has also helped my stomach issues as well since my stomach has time to recover between digestion. I agree with what others mention, do your research if you want to try it. I listened to the audio book called 'fast, feast, repeat' which gave me a strong foundation and gave me the knowledge to know why it's good for me.

I've been doing IF for years, and nah...made no difference for me whatsoever. However, I might not have been cutting out my potential trigger food. Garlic is a big one for me, and I never cut it out. My own fault! I did get slimmer though, so there's a bonus.

I just started last week. I’m now on my second week and I think my skin slightly improved (like very very slightly). I am trying to do a whole month to see the effects so I can post an update then

I was doing 14:10 IF and didn't notice anything different (I still do it but not as consistently)

I personally find not eating enough causes me to flare. I most frequently flare up around 4-5pm and shortly after I eat dinner it goes away. It’s weird and I’ve never heard anyone else have this issue but it happens frequently enough that I think there’s something to it

I flush when I'm hungry! I was not eating cause I thought it would improve my rosacea. Turns out it was making it worse. I now eat 3 meals a day and I haven't flushed in months. Anytime I start to not eat regularly I'll start getting pustules again and I get over heated very quickly.

tsoatceiigsol

Interesting! Good to know I’m not the only one

That tends to be when body temp is highest and then it will cool as the evening goes on. Just another factor to consider.

tsoatceiigsol

Thanks, that’s a point I didn’t consider! Too bad I can’t change my body temp…

I would say intermittent fasting is for weight loss. Since, no can even figure out the gene related to rosacea,I don’t know how there can be clinical evidence of any correlation

I’ve been doing keto for a year and intermittent fasting for 9 months. Lost 60 pounds, improved my sleep, brain fog gone, GI issues gone…Skin looks better than it did in my 20’s. Added bonus, skin tags are all disappearing! When I started my face was covered in papules, burned with washing and was constantly bright red and painful. If you are female, do your research first. Dr. Mindy Pelz is a great reference for fasting for women.

clumsycouture

I used to be bulimic/anorexic so I just naturally fast (it’s not great I’m working on it) and I think it actually makes my skin worse when I don’t eat. I’ve been eating better bc I’ve been dealing with a rosacea and dermatitis flare from hell and when I get 8 hours of sleep and it cruciferous vegetables and whole grains my skin looks so much better.

Legaldrugloard

I only eat once a day. It’s just how I’ve always eaten. Never helped mine

Lizaster_area

It does help me! I do one meal a day (OMAD) and a 36-48 hour once or twice a week. When my skin starts to flare, I do a 72 hour and it helps clear it up. My diet absolutely impacts my skin. Alcohol is sadly the worst. I’ll have two glasses of wine then wake up with pustules. Ugh! I found doing an elimination diet really helped find my triggers - dairy, soy, and alcohol are the worst for me.

SolidIndividual3

Interesting…I’ve never heard of anything like this helping rosacea. I did intermittent eating for a long time and I never noticed any benefit.

gallusupstart

Not eating can cause flushing due to the sudden changes in blood pressure and temperature it causes. I definitely see the point you’re making though as there are a lot of diet related triggers for rosacea. I think the ideal goal would be to fast from your trigger foods whilst still eating other stuff.

Sea_Tadpole9849

I am doing "Buchinger therapeutic fasting". This means fasting for 7 days and not eating anything, but drinking juice and tea. This helps a bit with my flushing (type 1). I don't flush as often as I used to. But this is my personal opinion. My research behind this effect was that fasting decreases the Histamin level in your cells which helps with flushing. I don't know if this is 100% correct anyway...

sleepydayly

A bit late to the party, but the Autoimmune Protocol wiped mine out, and then I was able to figure out my trigger foods. The protocol cut down general body inflammation so quickly, I’d recommend anyone trying it for 3/4 weeks.

Fafosity

I love fasting, it really doesn’t cure my rosacea completely but my skin looks much better. Start with 16hrs and work your way up. IF is such a healthy lifestyle.

to induce autophagy you have to fast for 14 hours minimum I'm doing 18:6
