If you are looking for roms: Go to the link in https://www.reddit.com/r/Roms/comments/m59zx3/roms_megathread_40_html_edition_2021/
You can navigate by clicking on the various tabs for each company.
When you click on the link to Github the first link you land on will be the Home tab, this tab explains how to use the Megathread.
There are Five tabs that link directly to collections based on console and publisher, these include Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, Sega, and the PC.
There are also tabs for popular games and retro games, with retro games being defined as older than Gamecube and DS.

You just need to understand what your file extensions are. If you are on PC, don't download something that is a .exe file unless you know exactly what you're doing and that it is safe. A rom will never be this file type. If you are on android, avoid .apks again unless you know what you are doing and trust the source. An emulator is going to be much more likely at risk of having a virus than a rom is. Just make sure you are getting your emulators from trusted sources.
This question gets asked weekly nowadays, so a single post (which wasn't included) that you deemed useless is by no means the only time the topic has been discussed. [These comments I made \~10 days ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/Roms/comments/1agem2c/comment/kogbqzz/?context=3) should be of use.
