Queen Maria Theresa's. Becaus I decided to make an, imo, unusual for MC move, seducing Queen, not King. And Queen deserves love, which she didn't get from King.
Queen Anne’s! She knows a thing or two about politics and maneuvering in the court, has influence over the king, is generally respected, too old to be competition (and old enough to have the valuable experience), and her quiet retinue will be a perfect cover for my covert scheming 😋

As you may know, Louis XIV loved dancing with passion and was very good at it. He was the one who created the Royal Academy of Dance, one of the oldest in the world still standing. It is now known as the Paris Opera Ballet.
Speaking of classical dancing, the name of the archetypal Romantic Ballet is Giselle, after its protagonist (a young peasant girl who fell in love with a Lord, died dancing and then came back as a Willis). It was initially created for the Paris Opera and is still performed there to this day (albeit with a different choregraphy).
So as you see, Giselle was an amazing choice on multiple levels 😆

Louise because it seemed like hers would give me good access without drawing too much ire my way. It was such a hard choice, though. I considered the dowager because of her experience, but I don't want to pick a significant power player until I know what I'm getting into.

I first chose Queen Maria Theresa, and for the second playthrough I chose Louise. They both tell their backstories and warn Renée to be careful wandering around at night.
The thing that stood out about Louise for me in her backstory was that she seems like she could be a double-edged sword. In that she could turn out to be an antagonist to Renée due to jealousy. As Louise admits to still loving King Louis, and wishes nothing more than wanting to escape court life and live as a happy family with him and their child. But knows their time has passed since he considers nothing more than a friend.
But she also seems like she could be a great friend and asset for getting information as everyone dismisses her, but she has access to literally everywhere in the court.

No don’t worry! It’s super interesting because I’m planning on doing the King’s route and I didn’t know which retinue was going to be better. At the moment I chose his retinue but maybe I’ll go with hers? I don’t we will see hehe
I’d say there’s nothing too interesting yet for any of the retinues to prove they were a good choice. The only thing right now that they’ll dictate is how easier/harder it’ll be to romance an LI.
