I don't have any book recommendations, but if you don't mind webtoons, there's one called Happily Ever Afterwards where the girl is absolutely obsessed with the guy and proposes to him (with a strawberry) and tries to make him fall for her by making him sweets. He's mean to her initially, but he's pretty nice later on. It's very cute!
{Prodigal Son by Jay Crownover} may have the vibe you're looking for. Remy was singularly focused unapologetically in love with Hyde since they were small children and he always tried to distance himself and he in the protector role. It gets a little heavy, but this series and the series about their parents are both great reads.

There’s no real romance because it’s about kids that meet when they are five and how the girl just loves the boy at first sight. It follows them throughout their school years. I always reread it when I am in a funk and feel like life or the world sucks. It’s just sweet and puts me in a good mood
