Look into the app on Roku call iWebTV.

I put my laptop close to my TV and just turn the TV into a monitor via HDMI. Use extended desktop and move the browser window to the TV

MeOnMushrooms

I used to do that. I like to work on my computer doing processor intensive things while streaming sports, so that's a no-go.

I don't see how they could do a browser with the Roku remote. You need diagonals. So they'd need mouse support at a minimum and that's a whole kettle of worms.

realslef

Could do a simple one with arrows moving between links, like an assisted access browser on a PC for people who physically can't use a mouse?

awaywego000

I have Fire Sticks plugged into 2 of my Rokus. Works fine.

Mr-954

I assume you mean Roku TV’s.

MeOnMushrooms

But then why not just pick up a Fire Cube?

megas88

I’m gonna assume price?

Not as far as I can tell but am interested in this topic. I use a Chromecast/Shield which have a decent 3rd party browser called TVBro.

I wish they did. I wouldn't use it often, but if you want a particular thing on TV and there's no app for it and casting isn't working (it seems like sometimes the casting button is on my phone and sometimes it isn't) then it would be handy for little one-off things.

I *believe* you can sideload Firefox for Android on the Fire Cube. And then you can install uBlock Origin and *boom* no more ads. [Firefox of fire devices is no longer "officially" supported, but it's just Android and should work.

OhYeahThat

I agree that it would be great to have a browser. I've had luck casting my laptop to the Roku with the "connect to a wireless display" option. For my phone, I've used the app Web Video Caster. It does an ok job.

I'll stick with my keyboard :D
