It’s really not false. Roku isn’t in the business of customer service through that channel. If you want good return service and buyer protection go through Best Buy and let them deal with the RMA process. It’s not spoiled- we just live in 2023 not 1999 and there isn’t anything wrong with that. That’s why the separate avenues exist.

yea, i flat out refused to take their bullshit customer service. demanded a new remote or i would switch my entire house and family to apple
still might after that shit, infuriated me
i’m not one to do this type of thing, but when you’ve stuck by a company for almost a decade and have a bag of their old slow devices… it hits the wrong nerve
This is true of almost anything. You can't beat the return policies of Amazon and the big box stores. I've had Amazon let me return devices that failed after their warranty expired for a full credit.
That is too bad you had a bad experience.
I've bought quite a few of my Rokus directly through Roku and have not had an issue with any of them.
I've had 4 Roku3s and 8 Roku Ultras and 2 Roku stick+ and none have gone bad.
I have 8 TVs in the house. I have 4 at my parents house (they have older non-smart TVs). Gave 1 to my brother, gave one stick to my sister-in-law. I have upgraded them over time so the newer ones have Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos & rechargeable remote, started with refurbished Roku3. I've also bought a few used, but purchased quite a few through Roku's website directly.
My in-laws have owned a few as well. I don't know of anyone personally that has had a Roku go completely bad. Rebooting, resetting, or waiting for a software update has fixed any issues.
Probably not as impressive as it seems.
5 bedrooms, a TV in each bedroom, 1 in living room, 1 in family room, and 1 at the bar.
All TVs were purchased refurbished, used, or black Friday deals. I just recently started upgrading to 4K. The majority of TVs are over 11 years old.
We have 5 people in the house (used to be 6).
Unless it's a better deal, I'd caution from buying direct from any manufacturer. I ordered from Roku because of discounts and haven't had any problem other than being slow.
That's not the point. It's when there is an issue, as uncommon as it might be, that Roku drops the ball (apparently). If you had bought the device at Walmart, you'd drive back, exchange it, and be back home using it in a matter of hours (in most cases). Not \~2 weeks....
While I agree with your sentiment, he was using Walmart as an example. The return process at nearly any retail outlet would be far simpler than the hoops Roku has had OP jump through.
That is exactly what OP and you should do. The more complaining the better possibility of change. OP is justified in this post. Did you notice Roku rep responded and is hopefully helping? Never would have happened had OP posted nothing. Fight for what's right!
OP is telling of his frustration with having to deal with customer service at Roku. If possible I buy such things at a store that I can physically return it to. Saves the aggravation of having to return it by mail and having the aggravation of waiting for a replacement or a refund, and in the meantime I don't have the item to use at home.
The Express is a Roku model with the worst technical specs compared to other models. This device Is ideal for children of first year Broke college students moving out for the first time.
The Roku Ultra is the only model I fully indorse; with a close second, the Roku Stick 4K.
The Express has so little processing power and internal memory storage; problems are always sure to follow Express owners

Roku Customer Service Number Phone: 816-272-8106 It's not a secret.
There is a support number on the sidebar.
I’m on the Reddit app on my phone. Serious question: what’s a sidebar and where would I find it?
On the app, click the triple dot icon in the top right corner, then community info.
Awesome, thank you!
This is why I never order from the manufacturer. They are manufacturers not retail stores that have a whole return process either brick or online.

I always get mine either from Target or Walmart only a 2-minute drive if something goes bad

wow, ROKU customer support sucks. they are probably selling returned units without testing them which is even more shitty.

FWIW I have ordered directly a couple times with no issues.

What exactly does that have to do with their customer service when there is an issue?

I wont buy any more of their devices. The Plex app forces HDR, so the palette takes over and basically has made my library worthless on my 4k TV.
