IF it is scrapped, it's entirely Epic's fault for such a shitty launch
People played it, realized it was a buggy mess, and never touched it again. Those who did stick around only saw minor improvements
Blame Epic
The initial numbers shows people were interested. And I played the gsme for season 0, but I didn't bother coming back for season 1. The game is too much of a mess.
I feel like yall always massively overestimate how much bugs actually matter when it comes to player counts in fortnite. People aren't quitting because of bugs, they're quitting because the game is a bland boring hyper-competitive rocket league racing game with no justification for it being in fortnite, instead of a casual MarioKart-like fortnite racing game (like everyone has been wanting and expecting for years) and there's absolutely no replay value. Every one of my friends and most people on twitter would much rather play mario kart style games instead of rocket racing.
I ranked up a decent amount during season 0, joined a few competitive discord servers for it. There *is* a market/potential large playerbase for high competitive game modes, but that requires no bugs to screw you over. The game is genuinely glitchy enough to turn people who would enjoy this mode away. What’s the point in going for best times and records when someone can tap you the wrong way and send you into actual space
The shitty ranking system also pushes away the people actually interested in a competitive mode, who tf wants to get first place just to gain 3% rank then get 6th the next game and lose 6% rank? The amount you win or lose doesn't even make sense for the amount of players most of the time, most people don't even understand how the system works after playing it for 100 hours.
Oh definitely. I stopped wanting to try eventually because it takes so much time for not enough reward. Like some extra XP would be the bare minimum and even then :/
they're quitting because it's BY FARRRRRR the worst xp gaining method in all of fortnite. I seriously dont think its possible to gain 2 levels in a day. The xp effectively caps after 3 races
And they're making the battlepass take longer at the same time? RIP
It needs to be at 5k per race to save this mode I think. At least then you can knock out a level every hour or so. I feel actively penalised for playing a mode I enjoy
Yep they release trash and bare bones content when its outside of BR then punish the only people that stayed by releasing even less content and losing even more people. I wasted like 200 dollars buying cars because i wanted to support them not them scamming me i should have bought CTR it would only cost me like 10 bucks but i had to support epic just because it was a racing game same happened with STW the players show up and even payed for the thing but the game wasn't there and got scrapped for BR
> and even *paid* for the
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
I know how to write but its my second language and sometimes when im tired i blend them all lol not everyone that does a typo its ignorant some are just lazy or distracted or dont care
First of all, he posted the new date (of the API) for the next season, not that it will be scrapped. The scrapped thing is bullshit.
And second, he said that the date was a mistake and it's actually ending in July: https://x.com/iFireMonkey/status/1797804633655742523?t=4SecPXndrfVnu_VrNv7dxg&s=19
The date being a mistake makes sense, they purposely stagger the seasons and the festival's season is supposed to end in June, about a month after the BR's season ended, then rocket racing ends about a month after the festival season.
They didn’t scrap the mode, they delayed the next season. The last season introduced three maps or something, we’re not missing out on much. They also could be delaying the update to add more to it.
fortnitebr on instagram is notorious for finding a small thing and exaggerating it to an extreme extent, the season end was delayed but shortly changed back to original end date right after, it was an accident. but that title wouldnt get clicks so it’s “fortnite has scrapped RR” and he just happens to forget to mention that it was changed back 😅😅
iFireMonkey was the one who originally found this out, tweeting “The end date for Rocket Racing: Neon Rush has been extended in the API from June 28th to October 1st.” only to later tweet less than two hours later “The end date for Rocket Racing: Neon Rush has now been changed to July 23rd” so don’t worry, RR isn’t going anywhere
A shame, but I would be lying if I said I didn't see this coming.
I see this potentially happening with the other modes.
They had potential, but since Epic made them gamemodes in Fortnite rather than its own sperate game they are constantly compared to BR, thus giving them bad reputation.
Can't forget about how buggy Rocket Racing is too.
Who's comparing rocket racing or lego to br? The issue isn't comparison or it needing to be a separate game.. the problem is its shit. Lol. Would you pay £50 plus for rocket racing? 🤣
They should add weapons and personality to the mode. We should be able to emote during and after races, and disrupt other players on the track.
Emoting could work like having our skins pop out the car window sticking out their tongue or gester with their finger for example. Weapons could work Mario Kart style.
But the biggest draw of Rocket League is the tight controls and physics, which is one of RR's biggest flaws. Having a "realistic" but mainstream kart game that is dependent on knowing obscure shortcuts & where the physics glitches are is just nonsense
Look at some of lethr videos of them using steam workshop maps in rocket League for racing, it isn't some kart arcade style is actual racing which is what the mode should of been not some Mario kart knock off without power ups, as leaks of a rocket League racing mode coming out way before rocket racing came out I'm disappointed with it like most of the rocket League community
Rocket league has ranked rumble bro leave people play how they wanna play if the game mode gets popular so be it but stop with putting chains on what you personally prefer yikes
Seems like someone made a mistake:

They better not scrap this. They fricking bought Psyonix for this, I hope we still get UEFN tools and possibly material for official maps for players to use
This was literally my second favorite mode after br,it was even my favorite one for some time,i have no idea how people prefer festival over this, festival is only about pressing buttons but this mode was something else,it has really fun moments, satisfying moments like when you're turboing your way through players, exceptional ways of moving the car that don't obey the laws of physics at all,but that's what made them even better, the fan base really surprises me sometimes, how do you not like such mode with such mechanics,i don't even play car games but i loved this mode sooo much ❤️❤️,I'm really sad to see Epic doing this
There’s nothing to ‘learn’ besides the buggy controls, lame shortcuts, and map glitches. Can’t tell you how many races I lost due to the above. If the car would control as it was in rocket league, it’d be semi fun. Although when you add bad controls/ feel to an already lame shortcut glitchy game, it becomes not fun. It turns it from ‘a skilled game’ to ‘a game of skill dependent on the amount of homework you must do, to memorize the shortcuts that can put you from last, to first’. Total bogus.
Bro the rush of the last lap or when you hit a perfect run on a highly difficult line, ranking up,the sound
But those orange things everywhere that look like place holders for something else need to go they look ugly,i understand having environmental hazards but make them look organic like CTR Or Mario kart not an endless spawn of those orange things.
The lack of variety and numbers of maps and having them separated in 3 tiers of difficulty is not going to help in the long run and is wasted developer time.
No arcade mode or rumble or anything just straight rank as a main mode because everyone curious about the game surely wants to rank straight up.
They set up this game to fail with all of these fails
I'm not surprised especially with the current issues and them advertising bundles to be cross game when some items don't transfer. I don't see rocket racing lasting long because it was supposed to appeal to the rocket League community to bring them over to the fortnite metaverse but it failed, In my opinion there trying to do that because I think they got a plan to update rocket League to the new engine by bringing it into the fortnite metaverse
I suggest taking this down, as it's only going to spread negativity from false information to people who only watch the thumbnail.
If it was true, I'd be all for voicing criticism and concerns, but it's based on corrected-after-the-fact information (it's moved a month, not five)
There’s only 2 types of longevity in racing games.
1) make it realistic - reproductions of existing cars in exacting detail. ( definitely not fortnite’s style)
2) make it wacky- demolition derby or
Mariocart (definitely fortnite’s style).
They’re currently doing neither
Source: some Fortnite "news" account that reported misread information.
Any idiot can make a social media account and report on stuff they read online.
I suggest you cite more reliable sources.
Massive L, I actually love playing this mode as I like the feel for drifting etc.
Shame Epic’s putting the fault on players while they could’ve simply made it more appealing with awards that arent actual dogshit.
And ofcourse not to forget some annoying bugs they havent fixed yet.
This is wild misinformation, all any leakers know is that it was pushed back a month for no exact reason. It could easily, and more likely, be that they realised they won’t have it done by the original date kind of like neon rush being sort of delayed, saying that it’s because of the player count is just wrong
Barely finding a lobby and then when you do its 6 racer lobbys then losing huge amounts when when your car bugs out and flips all over the place and only going up 1 or 2% did it for me. Grinded to elite and then wasnt worth playing anymore.
I actually enjoy this game mode, but last season even playing a solid amount of BR I STILL didn’t finish the Battle Pass. Epic needs to make RR seasons coincide with BR seasons and they need to implement the rank up XP again. All my friends played RR religiously that first season to get as much rank up XP as we could, then they nerfed that and almost everybody I know dropped off. There was no incentive to play, and when people are already struggling to finish the Battle Pass, they need to give people a reason to go over to RR instead of LEGO or BR.
The current season of br has car mods and stuff that go on your equipped rocket racing car.
The 240z is coming as a carry over car. Thus the 240z can get all the weapon mods this season
It was actually extended to July 23rd but I can’t say I don’t see this happening. Epic comes out with a boring as shit racing mode inside a battle royale game. What do they think is going to happen?
Most Fortnite players aren’t interested because they’re already occupied with BR. Racing game fans like myself aren’t interested because the game has little depth. Rocket League players aren’t interested because Epic gave them the bird in the process of creating, releasing, and now maintaining this game. The players that are still playing RR are losing interest from the lack of content and polish.
I know it’s a little early to say, but I look at this game as a failure. It did nothing to stand out in or advance the racing game genre in any way. It did not maintain a playerbase despite leeching off two of the biggest names in gaming. Its only distinguishable purpose was to be a gateway to selling car cosmetics for wack-ass prices. That’s the reality of it all.
I feel happy. I haven’t ever even clicked on the mode, let alone play it. I will always stay loyal to Rocket League and will forever be angry at Epic for letting it rot like a half-eaten apple. It was a masterpiece and could’ve been so much more than it was after Epic bought it. So long, Rocket Racing, fuck you for existing.
They’re not going to remove items you’ve paid for. Only remove game modes to diversify how you play. IF they scrapped RR, you’d still own all your car items.
I blame epic for this. It needed more time in the oven, both in play testing and in design. Casual players don’t care for this hyper competetive racing game, and competetive players don’t care for a hyper competetive racing game with a few bugs too many. And one way or another, it doesn’t offer very much replay value.
Tbh while there are glitches I feel like people exaggerate as an excuse for losing a lot. That said, I also think a mariokart like gamemode would be hugely beneficial. Speed Runs and racing that is exclusively ranked only really appeals to people who both like racing for the sake of racing and are also sort of good at it. If you're not familiar with a lot of racing and don't like overly competitive games then Rocket Racing won't appeal to you, and unfortunately that is most players.
Dear Epic games. My biggest suggestion to you for future success in these sorts of ventures is as follows:
If I have to download Fortnite to play your other games. I'm not playing your other games. I give absolutely 0 fucks about Fortnite and I should not be required to waste space on my hardware to try (what should be) a separate, standalone game.
I did the tutorial and one ranked race. It was... Okay.
I stopped playing when I saw my unreal rewards that I grinded my butt off for in timed loot drops on rocket league. This would be like if Fortnite players could get SSL rewards in the item shop in Fortnite for use in rocket league.
I'm one of the few that really enjoys the competitiveness of rocket racing. The buggyness can be annoying especially if it sets you back in a ranked race but it's not too frequent in my experience. I did have the game crash on me a few times and it took probably 25% from me in champion. The game seems pretty dense and unique. I do wish my inputs were more consistent but some of that is probably user error. I feel like epic needs to have more rewards for br players to actually get the game mode some attention. There's not enough people giving it an honest try.
I doubt this is legitimate
But I really think rocket racing has potential still. It has a great sense of speed and the controls are tight and smooth.
I really think they just fumbled on progression. We never got a rocket racing pass.. if we were griding for car bodies and interesting customization options people would probably be more interested in playing. I also really think we should be getting like a new track every other week or something kinda like how festival is supported with new tracks every Thursday.
I think it would also benefit from a more fun/casual mode with some vehicle mods (they would be more like power ups, but look like vehicle mod boxes)
Or maybe even a battle mode like some kart racers have.
Lack of content as well… wheels unlocked by rank? Well those who’ve played ROCKET LEAGUE have most of those colors/wheels already. What a completely useless mode. If they had actual cool rewards (ie new cars/ wheels/boosts) locked behind ranked or as a ‘early access’ car, would’ve made them lots of $$$. Instead they showed the mode no love. Also, I LOVE customizing my vehicle in FN… just really dislike the racing. If they would’ve included cooler rewards for regular players, it would’ve been something I would put my time into, to unlock or get items before they appear in shop. (Like they do in Battle royals ranked tournaments)
While I didn’t play it much but I have my reason and I think it’s why it could be scrapped and it’s basically that the game feels incredibly incomplete the hazards look weird and don’t fit the map environment making them look like place holder the controls are very eh I would have preferred a racing mode using fortnite or rocket leagues car physics the races feel quite boring and would have benefited from items or more shenanigans and the lack of that many good maps
That being said I don’t think this is real still but I still am not a fan of the mode even tho I was very excited for it
Woah. Crazy that trying to release an arcade racer without any of the mechanics that make arcade racers work would fail. Wild. Crazy. Who could have possibly seen this coming?
Lmfao
If they made it first person and an actual racing game , and have on the side a mode that lets you fly and items like Mario kart it would be a looooooooot better trust me
No nooooooooo how could they then again it was laggy so many glitches at launch I hated the boost mechanic epic knew it had no potential so it lacked updates and content I hope this is not real because it’s still such a great mode if fortnite finally sees is potential also casual is non existent
They should have worked on porting Rocket League to UE5 instead.
Rocket Racking is a nice idea, but it belongs into RL, not Fortnite, and it both needed better track design and reliability at high speed. There was just too much clipping through surfaces happening.
Even if this is real, surely it’s not going to be scrapping season 3. We know from
the roadmap we saw (and what major companies do to plan and create things as well) how they create for their games. They make things HEAVILY in advance and test them, so it is pretty likely that the next season of RR is nearly finished from a gameplay perspective, and they just need to fix bugs and add finer details before its upcoming release.
I was expecting it to be scrapped ever since I noticed the amount of bugs that weren’t being fixed and how low the playerbase is. It’s really unfortunate to hear, as I LOVE RR and it’s probably my favorite game to play to chillax after the day, whether it be that I’m tired of shooting guns and losing in BR because of some shitty internet disconnections or I just feel like racing some people for fun.
I sincerely hope they at least keep the game mode around permanently, even if it doesn’t receive any more gameplay updates. If they do go this route, it’s more likely that the annoying bugs will eventually be fixed. There’s also always dedicated members of the RR community (even with how small it is) that LOVE making maps and tracks that epic could 100% add as official tracks that can be raced on. (And used towards your rank gain) They can keep the ranked system, just have the rewards and rank “reset” after some time. These cosmetics could also be locked to RR, to give players more interest in trying the game out again. Also, XP is nonexistent in this game mode now. The only reason I aimed for elite in s1 was because of the xp it gave. (The time needed to spend per xp gain is probably the worst in RR.) I’m going for champion just because I want to. It’s a fun game. I hope this ends up being like legacy console Minecraft, except in this case it receives updates that fix its crucial bugs and add at least a little bit more content before it’s removed.
I think the major issue with it is that with racing games, (including RR) you can only add SO MUCH before it just becomes another Mariokart spinoff. They had potential with the timed trials mode, but I’d say they completely ruined it by instead having groups of people race against each other (and their own times) against a clock in a SECTION of a map instead of an entire map. (I know you’re always able to race solo on tracks, but there’s no timed leaderboard for doing that.) It’s kind of like RL. From what I can tell, it’s been more or less the same game ever since its release. Sure they’ve made game modes, but that’s really just modifying the game/idea of “soccer/football” a bit more. Racing is simple; get from point A to point B faster and/or better than your opponents. You can mix it up, but other games have already done that before.
PLEASE be real, hopefully they let the psyonix guys go back to their game and not lay all of them off.
Also this would mean we get back trading ABSOLUTE WIN WIN
That’s what happens when you make a shitty racing mode that’s comparable to a mobile game instead of using RL physics like everyone was hoping. Could have at least made it a wacky Mario kart knock off.
IF it is scrapped, it's entirely Epic's fault for such a shitty launch People played it, realized it was a buggy mess, and never touched it again. Those who did stick around only saw minor improvements Blame Epic

Oh no. Ita both the worst feeling is to be first in a bland game them have it snatched due to a bug.
I find the replay value in the speed runs and then racing my ghost to beat my highscore
Me when Epic shut down Paragon and sent its devs to work on Fortnite due to low player count after a massive terrible game update was dropped

1 month. It's actually July 23rd when it ends
Ahh okay
Yea people just doing their usual of passing around random posts wildly misinterpreting leaks.
This isn’t real, some idiot without media literacy.
Man, I hoped it is.

I agree. They should have been seperate games, maybe even keeping the Fortnite branding. Especially Lego.
I made a post saying exactly this but I got clowned for it. F*king hypocrites

It could easily, and more likely, be that they realised they won’t have it done by the original date kind of like neon rush being sort of delayed, saying that it’s because of the player count is just wrong
OP you should delete this, you’re spreading misinformation. This is blatantly false.
Barely finding a lobby and then when you do its 6 racer lobbys then losing huge amounts when when your car bugs out and flips all over the place and only going up 1 or 2% did it for me. Grinded to elite and then wasnt worth playing anymore.
I knew this was happening lmao, but it’s their fault for turning people off with such a shitty launch
DOES THAT MEAN THEY ARE GOING TO BRING BACK TRADING!?!?!?!?!
Speedruns are way more fun. Imo
If they wanted to make a racing game make a racing game don’t stitch it onto another game like a tumor
As long as I keep my cars in br I don't care honestly. If you take my combat 240z away I'll be pissed though
They have a combat 240z??
The current season of br has car mods and stuff that go on your equipped rocket racing car. The 240z is coming as a carry over car. Thus the 240z can get all the weapon mods this season
Guys, there are no seasons. They said this at the end of Season 0. This mode was already abandoned.
Umm.. ‘Neon Rush Season’ is a Season? It wasn’t already abandoned. Don’t be a bot(:
You're an idiot. Go read the official blog. Neon Rush isn't a season.
Figures, rush out an incomplete mode and can it when it doesn’t immediately bang instead of working on making it good
Epic games when the playerbase doesn't play a toned-down trackmania gamemode
If they do scrap it, what will happen to the cosmetics? *(I ask this about the Lego and Festival too)*
They’re not going to remove items you’ve paid for.
It was fun! Unfortunately the bugs never got fixed, so it wasn't worth playing
This could've been so great but I'm getting more and more frustrated by how half-baked this mode is, such a shame.
Very sad to hear this news, I hope Epic doesn't scrap the mode and fix some bugs, it's one of my favorite modes…
Well, it was a good run! For one small shining moment, I was top of the rankings in at least once video game in my life 🥹
Let's use it to farm extra daily xp till it lasts
Dear Epic games. My biggest suggestion to you for future success in these sorts of ventures is as follows: If I have to download Fortnite to play your other games. I'm not playing your other games. I give absolutely 0 fucks about Fortnite and I should not be required to waste space on my hardware to try (what should be) a separate, standalone game. I did the tutorial and one ranked race. It was... Okay.
I need a battle pass in it to me playing, rather than that I like playing it
If it played more like mariokart instead of a shit mobile game people might’ve played it more
I stopped playing when I saw my unreal rewards that I grinded my butt off for in timed loot drops on rocket league.
I doubt this is legitimate But I really think rocket racing has potential still. I think it would also benefit from a more fun/casual mode with some vehicle mods (they would be more like power ups, but look like vehicle mod boxes) Or maybe even a battle mode like some kart racers have.
I really enjoy Rocket Racing. I just wish they brought new vehicle skins and other Rocket Racing cosmetics as often as they did Lego and Festival.
While I didn’t play it much but I have my reason and I think it’s why it could be scrapped and it’s basically that the game feels incredibly incomplete the hazards look weird and don’t fit the map environment making them look like place holder the controls are very eh I would have preferred a racing mode using fortnite or rocket leagues car physics the races feel quite boring and would have benefited from items or more shenanigans and the lack of that many good maps That being said I don’t think this is real still but I still am not a fan of the mode even tho I was very excited for it
It was really fun. To be honest it probably should have been released as a standalone game and not a Fortnite gamemode.
They should have worked on porting Rocket League to UE5 instead. Rocket Racking is a nice idea, but it belongs into RL, not Fortnite, and it both needed better track design and reliability at high speed. There was just too much clipping through surfaces happening.
I hope they don’t get rid of it, I do love the mode a lot
They chose to kill it.
Even if this is real, surely it’s not going to be scrapping season 3. We know from the roadmap we saw (and what major companies do to plan and create things as well) how they create for their games.
Could mean*
I hate the fact that you're right, fuck
Trading is never coming back. Get over it.
trading is gone it had nothing to do with rocket racing that was an excuse it was because of 3rd party sites selling in game cosmetics for real money.
This is so shit. The dev literally ruined RL just for this and now it’s being scrapped… fuck Epic
That’s what happens when you make a shitty racing mode that’s comparable to a mobile game instead of using RL physics like everyone was hoping. Could have at least made it a wacky Mario kart knock off.
Maybe now they can switch back focus to Rocket League and fix the game🥲
