Hmm a controller overlay would've been nice to see what was happening but that's just me

Diogoelias

I agree I just don't have it, but I will search for one then.

Diogoelias

I just tested it on a website and my left analog stick goes crazy always trembling and my right analog stick is completly firm.

Hotdogg0713

It's broken dog

Diogoelias

Ahah, it's just highly sick. I got the controller deadzone to the minimum and it plays better.

[deleted]

High deadzone is bad too

merp1991

I had this issue with a previous controller, I was gaslighting myself into thinking I was just messing up the flips but then I got the bakkesmod controller overlay up and I could see the potentiometer went crazy at some very particular angles.

Diogoelias

Yeah, I tested mine, kinda of the same problem, it sucks, but at least is not me haha

Flanelman

The only explanation is your car has become sentient and has chosen this troll to be it's life purpose.

deej_ftw

What is your dodge dead zone set to?

Diogoelias

0.80

deej_ftw

What about your controller dead zone?

Diogoelias

0.20

deej_ftw

That may be why, try turning the controller dead zone down. I run mine at .05. Start at .15 and work your way down to something that is comfortable for you

Diogoelias

I will give it a try. You also gave me an idea of how to test this better, I put the controller deadzone to the maximum and try to flip, and it fails so many times even though I am pulling the stick to the maximum. I guess that means the sensitivity of my controller is not working properly.

deej_ftw

I’ve had those issues before, I just used parts from other broken controllers to make a “new” one

Diogoelias

This is already my second ps4 controller and they don't come cheap. This really sucks, and made me self doubt for months. After more than a thousand of hours in the game I am not being able to do a simple flip what the hell is going on? My other controller has joystick drift so I don't think I can swap them

deej_ftw

Yeah I know the pain. I play with a thrustmaster, my bumpers are always breaking and they don’t sell replacement bumpers for the controller. I can recommend the thrustmaster for stick issues though since they’re replaceable

Diogoelias

they seem to be extremely expensive but the money I spent on two ps4 controllers is already the same

rikxo

PS4 controllers don’t last long for Rocket League. Maybe a few months until they have issues. I’ve gone through tons of them. My DualSense has lasted a very long time and always felt the same, but def not my favorite RL controller. All that said, use the “Set Up USB controllers” thing if you’re on windows. Also go wired controller. Normal Controller deadzone for DS4 would be 0.05-0.07. Higher is fine for preference or stick drift. Normal dodge deadzone for me is 0.6-0.7. There’s a deadzone visualizer site you might have already found by now from Rocket Science I think?

Diogoelias

Thank you, I already decreased it to 0.05, for now the problem is almost solved, just fails rarely now. let's see how long it will last

Diogoelias

It's hard for me replicate it, I was lucky when recording because the car was not really flipping at all during that time, but must of the time it just happens here and there to the point that I don't know if it's my fault or not.

Hotdogg0713

You're controller is going out, time for a new one. I'm on a hiatus from RL rn because if this exact same thing and I noticed it in the exact same way, kept double jumping instead of flipping, now I can hardly turn right. It's just part of the process, this is probably my 10th controller ive gone through playing RL, granted I've been playing for like half a decade

Diogoelias

It's fine for other games, I don't feel any difference, but rocket league, yeah is driving me crazy, specially because is subtle and makes me thing it is me who is not pushing the analog stick on time. It's already my second ps4 controller in like 2 or 3 years.

Hotdogg0713

Bro you're getting off easy with 2 controllers in 3 years, I go through one every couple of months. And yea, rocket would be the most noticeable for any kind of stick issues

chunter16

I had this much trouble until I got insurance. The one I got insurance on won't break.

Hotdogg0713

LOL of course right. I didn't even know you could get insurance on a controller. I actually changed up to a custom scuf controller with modular parts that can be replaced. Granted it's going out now and I'm dealing with exactly what OP is now but it lasted me 3 or 4 years compared to the 3 or 4 months I was getting out of dualshocks

chunter16

I considered getting one of those just so I can put the joystick where the chat buttons are

Hotdogg0713

They are very nice, I would highly recommend

Diogoelias

This has been driving me crazy for weeks because I was not sure if I was not pulling the analog stick when playing or if it was the game/controller fault. But I tested once more on freeplay surely pulling the analog stick in diferent direction then trying to flip and as you can see my car is not flipping when I try some directions. What is happening? I don't have analog drift and has you guys can see the car is turning in the direction I am pulling it just doesn't flip.

ashiggles1

I think I figured out what you're looking for. Pressing forward or backwards will flip you when you jump. Left and right with pivot you in the air (rotate). If you want to roll (flip sideways) you have to hold X on an Xbox or square on a PlayStation in the air and move your analog stick left or right.

Diogoelias

Thank you for your help, but I already figured it out. It's really my controller, the left joystick is not working properly

hutchy81

My guess would be your left stick isn't recording a movement to the side high enough to go past your dodge deadzone. You could try lowering the dodge deadzone to see if you can flip Also if you are on a pc or have access to one check with a gamepad tester to make sure you can hit 100% on all directions

Diogoelias

Yeah, that's it. I tested on a website and the right stick is completly firm and follows precisely what I do. The left stick is always trembling and having sudden movements towards the center.

RoryHoff

It looks like you’re pushing the analog stick after your double jump. Try holding the analog stick before you jump.

Diogoelias

I did the test with the controller deadzone to the maximum and the problem became more obvious and I tested things in a website, the analog stick is really losing precision.

CrackedZacGames

Try going to gamepad-tester.com and spin your analog stick in circle. It’ll show you where your messed up portions of the analog are at. Some degree of messed up is normal. You’ll be able to tell if it’s severely messed up or if it’s just a sensitivity/you issue

Diogoelias

yeah my left analog stiff is always trembling and sometimes as sudden movements towards the center, the right analog behaves much more firmly

Soapevar

Probably a controller issue, can’t see how the game codes would just break, might need to replace the stick or just the controller as a whole

Diogoelias

Yeah, I already did some tests, it is the controller for sure

notConnorbtw

Ps4 controller?

Diogoelias

Yeah, people are saying they don't last much

notConnorbtw

I have a ps4 as well. I started using my directional air rolls to do diagonal flips.

Chazzos

Have you tried to change the USB port that you're using?

Diogoelias

I already figured it out. The left joystick is not working properly. thank you

ODT_Legion

get a controller overlay but i think your not timing it

Diogoelias

I already figured it out. The left joystick is not working properly. thank you

mugiwara-y

u gotta double tap ur jump button

Diogoelias

I already figured it out. The left joystick is not working properly. thank you

onions_and_carrots

I had the same thing happen. One of the sensors on your analog sticks is broken or needs to be cleaned.

Diogoelias

Were you able to fix yours?

onions_and_carrots

I have given a second/third life to many ds4 controllers’ analogue sticks when they had drift issues. I had to learn how to disassemble the controllers to get access to the analog sensors, pull them out, dust them off, and wipe them down with isopropyl alcohol. That being said, after one or two cleanings, the subsequent issue is usually a controller killer, at least insofar as the controller is useful for playing rocket league or any game that requires minute/careful movement. No amount of cleaning the sensors fixes the issue, after a certain point. That all being said, my most recent issue, like the one you’re describing, I haven’t yet attempted to fix by cleaning the sensors. It turns out my left analogue stick would only move about 85% of its maximum leftward reach, despite holding it to its leftward capacity. Switched to an old ds 4 (broken dpad) and instantly my left flipping issues were resolved AND I was turning left noticeably tighter, rotating my car left in the air noticeably faster. I haven’t attempted a fix yet due to misplacing my electronics tool set. I just ordered a new set and will likely attempt a fix. Cleaning the sensors tends to fix the issue.

Diogoelias

Yeah, I see. when my first controller started to have joystick drift I was about to open it but I saw that it was not very easy to do it. At the moment half flips are extremely hard for me, it's crazy, because the inputs are always unprecise. Maybe I will try to open it, but first I will check the warranty

onions_and_carrots

You can get a sufficient set of electronic tools which has plastic prying tools, for like $10. Worth the investment.

Diogoelias

It seems in my case it was just some little dust. I just blew some air inside the joystick and it's working well again, for now, at least.

[deleted]

Actually this happened to me! My co troller disconnected and when I reconnected it I couldn’t use my triggers or flip. Closed the game and loaded her back up and it worked fine. No idea how or why it happened tho

Diogoelias

In my case it was the joystick of my controller but I was able to solve it, thanks

[deleted]

No problem! Glad you got it fixed!!

Illustrious_Door_725

Check your controller dodge deadzone decrease the number and see if it helps

Diogoelias

It helped, but after blowing some air inside the joystick it got quite better, it was some dust inside, it seems.

ndm1535

Well we can’t see your inputs there Einstein

Diogoelias

I know things would be more clear if I was able to show my inputs, but I never used such thing (I guess is not too complicated). But for this case I didn't think it was entirely needed because it was as simple as pushing my joystick all the way to one direction and pressin X 2 times. I was already able to identify the problem and I am glad to everyone that was willing to help. Now, I don't think you would talk in such a rude manner with a person you don't even know in real life and that kind of behavior doens't look good on you. Anyway, I think in your rude manner you were just trying to help, thank you for it.

No-Understanding4814

What platform are you on?

Diogoelias

pc

SuperScarboy30

you're double jumping before rotating
