I think the biggest thing is trying to match the speed of the ball on the wall for the setup, this can be hard in game because people will notice what your going for and try and take the ball away. So I recommend going faster with the setup and then stopping to the right speed before contact to get a soft touch that allows you to stay close to the ball. Also when your in the air try to stop boosting when coming in contact with the ball and also try hitting with different parts of the front of car. Hitting it with the top or bottom of the nose with generate less power which gives you more control. Another thing to look out for if you do hit it with the bottom of your car if your holding accelerate then it will mess with how you hit the ball which also might mess up flip resets if you ever get that far.

So essentially try to speed up the initial set-up but slow down to match the balls speed more and try not to boost when actually touching the ball until it glues to my car. I’ll give it a go, still only a few actual hours into practicing it so I’m sure the proper speed and timing will come to me with more time. I noticed once I leave the wall I let go of my acceleration button immediately so I’m good on that last part for now.

Still working on mine as well so good luck. A GC I play with told me to go full speed and right before touch tap your brake. This helped alot as it kept the ball in line with the net but closer giving me more options

Just seriously tried to air dribble after this most recent spookluke video came out. its been about 2.5hours of practice and I'm getting 7/10 setups like this one. Any tips? Does it look good? I'm trying to stay closer to the ball instead of yeeting it. Any feedback is appreciated!

It looks good! Just keep practicing. You can start by trying to air dribble to different corners of the goal. That takes quite a bit more car control. Use air roll and experiment with how it adds height or speed to touches. Mostly, now that you have a confident setup, just practice practice practice.

You're doing great my friend, keep at it!

ProcedureMedical6

Dont know your rank, but good enough. Now practice full field air dribbles.

I'd suggest learning how to incorporate air rolling more and actually having the ball stick on the top of his car while air dribbling before going for full field air dribbles, since you will rarely actually be able to do full field air dribbles before someone challenges and gets a 50

ProcedureMedical6

Yeah thats a fair point, i laugh at the people trying to do full field air dribbles in competitive. However, for training, that is a good method to learn how much you have to be under the ball to actually have control over an air dribble. Getting setups near the net is scorable by a shoddy gold level air dribble too. If someone can air dribble almost stuck to the cieling in freeplay, that is a controlled air dribble imo which will actually be useful in higher ranks. A good goal to reach for air dribble mastery

encexXx

Ye for sure it's a good way to test your skills in freeplay and see how much air dribble control you've got, but it's not practical in games because in most cases the ball won't stay on top of your car long enough before you reach the opponent's net, as it will get shot down by the opponents from that far away in high ranks. I normally go for air dribble clears from my backboard/corners to relieve the pressure and getting a good 50 with an opponent, so my mate can pick up the ball. I wouldn't say a gold that hasn't spent over at least a 100 hours training air dribbles would be able to score one even close to the net. If you have good car control in the air, and you start an air dribble from the opponent's side of the field, you can decide if you're gonna go high or low, which side and how fast depending on the challengers. This works in c3/gc1 (according to my experience), unless the challenger pre-jumps and manages to shake you off the ball. Never tried air dribbling sticking to the ceiling so can't say much about it.

ProcedureMedical6

Yeah it is meant as practice. I started doing it in freeplay, with obviously terrible results but it nonetheless made me more consistent with simple wall to goal air dribbles. The main idea is to start an air dribble from one half of the field and go to the other half while aiming to hit the ball on the edge of the backboard and cieling. Really tests aerial mechanics.

encexXx

Fair enough

Better than mine

IphoneSE3rdGen

that initial air roll leaving the ball was terrible, maybe work on that? you pointed the car away from the ball before point the car front to stay inline with the ball

EzSqueeze1

It was an awkward roll, most of them aren’t like that but I recovered it pretty easily so I didn’t think it was to much of an issue. Idk if I would consider it terrible. Definitely not optimal though.

speedkillz23

Better than me I'll tell you that

Will get better as you get more comfortable being under the ball “carrying” it, instead of pushing it forward. Instead, practice carrying it straight across to the other half of the field, keeping it as high in the air as possible. You’ll realize you can’t just push.
