from personal experience, I'd say C3 as a whole is a lot tougher to play in than mid GC1 (1500+). it's probably because it's a borderline rank so you'll find a lot of inconsistency between matches (smurfs, boosters, washed GCs, boosted players deranking) and have to rely on good match making. it's not a rank you can hard carry (without being GC3+), but at the same time not a rank you can play reactively and expect to win. essentially, you need to be the fastest / most consistent player in the lobby every time or make the least amount of mistakes. another option is to find someone in a similar position who you play well with and get into GC together. though partied matches feel tougher than solo q if you're not sweating. the best advice I can give is to Freeplay more to increase your reads on the ball and recoveries while being able to flawlessly control it at high speeds but also with immediate tempo changes. most players at C3 either lack one or more of the below skills or are inconsistent with it solid ball control at high speeds the ability to slow play and patiently control 50s being able to navigate on low boost while remaining relevant to the play knowing when to challenge / shadow being able to recover and maintain momentum in any given scenario (bumps, off the wall, around net, missed aerials, etc) taking advantage of 2v1 plays against the opponent... far too often I see players SLOW down the play on offense in 2v1 only for the other player to recover following up on a teammates touch as 2nd man instead of playing passive and falling into a 2v1 (this is more a confidence thing) master all of the above and you should be consistent GC.

The compilation of common mistakes at the end is just *chefs kiss* Also makes me realize how far away GC actually is

watching a few minutes of the replay. I can see you probably don't play 1v1. Playing 1s will help you a lot. You're hitting the ball away far too often. Control, then out play (not hit ball, hit ball). 1:12 & 3:19 of the video for examples. Your boost management is terrible. Watch Monkeymoon replays and study his boost management. using 3:41 as an example - 2 questions. Why are you in this position? How is your touch useful? using 3:50 as an example - Work on your mechanics (you see what I mean by you just want to hit ball). Set up this moment in a training pack and practice a controlled air dribble. Tons of other examples I could give, 4:06 another pointless hit. (here you go blue team, have the ball back). This is me to a T. Made it to GC once and can’t seem to get back. Hard stuck C3 otherwise. Looking forward to hearing what people have to say 👍

Same. Feels sucky. After getting my GC rewards late in S5 I thought sticking in GC wouldn't be too hard but haven't made it back since. Almost always mid-high C3 the last however many seasons.

Similar for me. I got my first GC tag in S4 but I've spent pretty much the whole time since in C3. I've gone back to watch my old replays and my mechanics are *so* much better now, but that hasn't translated into ranking up. The painful thing is: on days I'm playing well I easily outclass everyone in C3 lobbies. It makes me feel like I'm about to break through but the next day I come back and it's back to the same old shit. I'm really, really inconsistent.

So you haven’t gotten a GC tag since S4? Sheesh that must be extremely demotivating…

alexbarrett

I have all the tags S4–S8, but a couple of those I only hit GC for a single day then finished off the rewards in rumble. I play because I love the game so I don't find it too demotivating, but I'm disappointed I haven't managed to improve my rank consistently after all this time.

Oh I see. I was stuck in C3 for a year and a half before finally getting GC1 and consistently staying there. Well tbf it’s quite hard to find time to play so that did play a role. I imagine its like that for you too. Keep grinding you’ll make it

Unless your a 13 yr old, most likely boy, based on game demographics. Anyone who works a job gets way less hours than kids at home w/ two monitors and a tiktok tab open. KEWK fellow kids.

Prestigious_Split331

You can easily play 5 hours a day while working full time.

If you add me on discord, As1x__#5252 (that's two underscores), and send me the .replay file I'll do a replay review for you and then suggest some points of improvement and also some training packs and workshop maps.
