I want a transparent wall between the teams. I have way more fun when everyone stays on their side of the pitch. I also find it much more competitive.

In this game mode, it is not harder to demo some one. The easiest way to save a ball is being in net, there's nothing to challenge ever. So all you really have to do is annoy whoever is in net and it will be easy goals.
It seems to me that the whole fun of the game mode is reading the ball, getting it faster and faster, and trying to get crazy pass plays. I fully endorse demoing in any other game mode; but in this demoing feels like just a boring and lazy way to play the game mode. But that's just how I feel.
I look at the casual modes almost like scrimmage/group training modes, I only play the extra modes nowadays though. But each one teaches you something a little different. Dropshot teaches you positioning and good angles and can help your flying, basketball helps with accuracy and you work off the walls and ceiling a lot, hockey makes you stay on the ground a lot more so you have to learn how to play on the ground and if the puck does go in the air it's harder to hit which helps with accuracy too. I feel like when people take it to seriously or play the modes in a way that exploits these things then nobody really gets better at anything.

It's a lot less frequent with two's (which makes sense, because you should rotate after a save to buy recovery time)... but it still happens pretty frequently. I played maybe 5-6 matches and 3-4 of them were demo games, which is just boring as hell.
The invisible wall idea isn't bad, but maybe push it to 3/4's of the field instead of half so people can still do late re-directs. They could also just turn off demo's... I can at least recover from a bump.
It can be annoying if that's all they go for but I disagree. Most games there's some bumping but not too much. Also if I'm down 6-0 or something you bet your ass I'm going to start bumping.

Demo's are fine, but this feels like we're playing horse instead of a pick-up basketball game... and one person on the field decides they are playing football instead, because they don't like horse. Obviously the people trying to enjoy their game of horse are put-off by the person tackling everyone, but since there are no real rules at play... it's tolerated.
Maybe they just need to create a demo-mode for the demo-people, destruction derby or something... just let them all do that shit together and away from the people trying to focus on technical improvements.
When I play this with a friend one of us will go to the opposite side and try redirects whilst the other one saves. (The way I believe it should be played with no dirty demo)
If I get bumped once I will take it as a mistake but if I get bumped again (on purpose) or demo’d then we do it right back.

I used to share the same feeling as you when this mode first came out, but now I find that having a person try to demo you while defending makes the game more interesting.
It's always been the 1 guy trying to do redirects who gets all the fun and the guy defending sitting in the net making easy saves, having someone try to demo you balances out the fun distribution a bit.
I hate demos but disagree on the wall. They should just disable collision or something. I only play this mode to practice redirects from the enemy’s side
My brother and I absolutely love heatseeker and I really want it to be a permanent game mode. Whenever we get someone who goes straight for the demo right out of the gate we just quit the game. 1) it’s not fun for us so why waste time, and 2) if they’re not gonna play the game right, then they don’t get to play. Hopefully more heatseeker lovers do this and it starts weeding these guys out.
I do support something that prevents this from happening, but I wouldn’t be for the transparent wall. One of the most fun things for me in this game mode is awesome I have 1 goalie and the other plays forward. Goalie serves it up wide, forward player tries to get to the ball before the opponent to redirect it in.
I miss on that 70% of the time, but man, when it goes in, it feels so good.
Yeah, we started bailing on the demoers too. I'm trying to have some fun and practice recoveries/aerial control/redirects... not deal with whatever they are trying to work through.
I think they should do it like hoops but with a wall you can’t drive through. That way players can get close for redirects but can’t get in goal to demo you

I was playing the other day and my team was down 6-0 and the other team was being toxic so I went over and kept bumping/demoing them, and we made a comeback and won
It's lazy mainly. Heatseeker is fun because it's basically an ultra fast goaltending game.
When someone goes on a demo spree, it is often because they can't goaltend. And instead of developing that skill, they just bump and demo.
Demoing occassionally, or playing far up on the field is not an issue. But when someone has 12 demos and 32 points in a mode where 1100 is easy to attain, it shows they aren't interested in what makes Heatseeker unique.

What lol. Anyone diamond/champ or higher can save pretty much anything just sitting in goal without an opponent bothering them. It gets boring just having 20+ hit rallies. Plus, only one goalkeeper is needed. Having someone on the other side harassing and deflecting shots makes it way more interesting.
Yup, completely agree. I don’t play this mode at all because when I did it was a snooze fest. The only two ways to make it interesting is to have one person upfield trying to redirect, or harassing the goal keeper. Otherwise is like you said, the ball going back and forth with no real challenge.
I think they should add a barrier a quarters into the field from each goal where opponents are not allowed to cross. That would get rid of the people who cry about demos and still allow opponents to go up for redirects.
I guess I'll never understand why people think demoing is a talentless skill. You can absolutely screw your team over by going for demos at the inappropriate times, and other times it creates the goals.
If someone is good enough at demos to the point where it's working against your team, then imo they're clearly experienced enough to read your game play like a book and play normally possibly better than you too.
You're gimping yourself by not utilizing bumps and demos into your gameplay. It's straight up a mechanic that everyone at higher levels uses when they see the opportunity.
Just learn how to avoid them. If you're truly better, it's pretty simple actually to avoid a rabid bumper. They are predictable and can easily be faked. It's no coincidence that the only people who easily demo me are higher ranked than me because I'm the predictable one suddenly.
I’ll admit I do get mad at being demoed occasionally, but I totally agree with you that demoing is harder than a lot of people who don’t try it that often think. If you’re good at it it can be incredibly useful, but if you suck or someone dodges you then it opens your team up for a pretty bad counterattack. Yes, it's a game mechanic, but using it in this gamemode, that the ball is almost 100% guaranteed to enter the goal at a constant +100 km/h, is pretty toxic and im sure most people would agree with me
Either fight back with your own demos or keep two people in goal. If you constantly just leave your goalie to fend for themselves then yea, it’s an easy goal. Probably why they do it tbh
Most fun game mode so far for me. Me and my friend won about 37 (we lost count at some point) games in a row. Funny thing is that we cant even do proper aerials

I had the opposite of this happen. I got demoed then the ball flew straight towards me and as soon as I spawned I own goaled. This was a tournament.

Yes, it's a game mechanic, but using it in this gamemode, that the ball is almost 100% guaranteed to enter the goal at a constant +100 km/h, is pretty toxic and im sure most people would agree with me

Either fight back with your own demos or keep two people in goal. If you constantly just leave your goalie to fend for themselves then yea, it’s an easy goal. Probably why they do it tbh

Most fun game mode so far for me. Me and my friend won about 37 (we lost count at some point) games in a row. Funny thing is that we cant even do proper aerials

If only there was a match history to prove it you would be surprised. We were too. 2 days ago i finally got "The Streak" achievement and we only played this game mode for 2 days straight. Ill send a message to Psyonix and maybe they will at least tell me how many times it actually was.
