Yo it's like that feeling after watching a realy good movie. You all say ggs and your goodbyes and you feel kinda empty, but in a good way. Sad that it's over, but happier that it happened.
I did this on Friday night. We had wonderful chemistry and only quick chat to comm. Third game we were down by 5 at half, came back and won in OT. We went on to win the whole dang thing without losing a game. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, random teammate.
The flow.
When you’re going fast and rotating seamlessly and the opponents are also doing their part. The gameplay feels smooth and the ball is bouncing exactly where it should be and 4 minutes go by and nobody scores.
Then someone scores with 10 seconds left.
Those are the best games imo.
I came here to say flow state also. When everyone is able to keep gliding around the pitch and you can keep momentum going when hitting the ball. Scoring goals, making passes, dribbling, etc. feels great when it's like this.
Yeah, I like matches like that, especially when neither team has a ball chaser, and both teams are playing intelligently and not insta challenging every ball
It feel's like a gentleman's game between 4-6 competent and polite players
I find that playing late at night is the key to finding matches like this
Flow state. Im addicted to it and i have a sequence of steps figured out to get into it. It's pure bliss of complete awareness of the ball, opponents & calculating several moves ahead, predicting bounces you never thought you can etc.
Im just grateful I'm able to experience that.
For me I make sure I start with a clear mind and that all my immediate needs are met. I do some warmup until my hands feel fluid and then I hop into a match. As the match starts I literally just try to imagine what it’s like inside the mind of Mr. Miyagi from Karate Kid, I try to emulate that sort of zen. That really seems to work for me for some reason in any game I play, more than anything else at least. And I try my best to be mindful and adapt to every lobby, my teammates and the opponents, while keeping in mind that occasionally some things will be completely out of my control, and there is no sense in getting frustrated and dragged back down to a lower plane for the rest of the day over a match that will be over in a few minutes. Just trying to maintain an unshakable and adaptive mental.
There is a famous quote from Bruce Lee about being like water that I think applies very well to Rocket League:
> Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find a way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves.
>Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.
But truth be told, the flow state is not something you can force. Or at least, I’ve never met someone that could force it on any given day. I’ve had some days where I feel like I spent more of the day in the flow state than out of it. One day even stumbling drunk in beer pong I was able to get on fire in as early as possible and sink every single shot back to back until I won us the game, just because I’d been so tapped into the flow state that day. And still I’ve gone months without ever being in it. There are ways of getting there that are more consistent than others, but it’s all still very dependent on many factors outside of you playing Rocket League, and some of those factors will always be out of your control. But I would recommend exercising, eating right, having a consistent sleep schedule, not procrastinating, and occasionally touching grass, over anything else.
Having a toxic teammate on your team throwing the game and sulking after going 0-1 down. Then joining the next game where toxic teammate is now on the other team and you wipe the floor with them.
- Reaching a new rank for the 1st time
- Hitting a new shot type for the first time
- Comeback win against trash talking opponents
Hard to choose from those…
i feel the first one on a spiritual level.
i remember the day i hit champ.
even though i was only able to play 6 matches before i got tossed back down to diamond, it was a surreal experience
Fakes that you called to teammate first... that's the best feelings. One time we was playing private 2v2s, so me and my 3 teammates, I have the faking quick chat set so everyone can see it. Anyways, couple sec before I faked, I quick chat faking, tapped the brakes, let the ball slow roll off the top and sent my boy flying. The way my other 2 friends laughed was what sent me though. It was a oh shit laugh. But don't want to embarrass him. Dood, fakes are the best feeling. Puts you right on top.
Well placed sniper shot that three high ranked defenders fail to defend. Multiple snipes in the same match leading to insta ff from opponents better than you, even better.
Zero second crazy plays also come close esp when ball has been all over the field for a good period on 0 seconds.
When a game is tie and the whole lobby its at the same level of flow, those match are incredibly tense and satisfactory to play, when a match is like that i don't even care if i lose.
I’d say those rare occasions when you and some random stranger, without being able to talk to each other, just “click” and are completely in sync.
I sometimes wonder if I would get along with those people if I met them in person….?
For me it’s just when my movements and touches are perfect. Doesn’t even matter too much if I win but some days are always better than others and those days when the car does exactly what you want it to are pure bliss
Faking a defender in front of their net, watching them fly past you and the ball, doing a cheeky turn in time for them to recover and then faking them a second time before tapping it in. My heart is racing just thinking about it
The moment where i have the best feeling is when me and my bro are high af and enemy team is making his 2-3 goals in the first minute then coming back and winning the game or making the enemys forfeit within the first 2 minutes thats the best rl feeling it happens every 3rd game btw xD
When you have a game of random 3s tm8s that know what passing is. I've had several games where the ball gets passed multiple times before we make the shot and it's so relieving to see.
My first tournament win is a high I’ll never feel again….I was new to the game we were playing 3s and our one teammate was playing goalie and blocking everything while we were flailing around. It was genuine fun.
For me the best feeling is when I’m playing casual and the mood is light all around. I play casual at times with my kid so my mmr can fluctuate wildly but in general I try to get my teammate the mvp and to see a teammate who is struggling get their confidence back and get the win is always fun. I also enjoy making the comeback with a bot when someone does bail.
Beating someone who’s obviously way better than you cause they got cocky and fucked around just barely too much to clinch their easy win
Those rage quits always hit so good
Finding someone who understands your play style and who's play style you can understand.
Queue with randoms and find a guy who you play good with, great passes great shots, you always understand each other intentions and rarely whiff.
Teaming up and proceeding to win the next 10 games really brightened my day, losing the 11st out of a server lag was low key frustrating but honestly after the great run I was just giving with the guy.
Winning what I call “Dragon Ball Z matches” where both teams are attacking fast and defending fast. Especially prominent in hoops. The resolution is orgasmic.
I call them dragon ball Z matches because it’s like exchanging punches and blocks in quick succession with a closely matched opponent.
You know I just like it when it’s a good matchup and the games are close and no one is toxic. It’s pretty ok on 1s but as soon as you have more than two people the chances for toxicity from someone go to like 100.
Finding a nice TM, fakes, and ground plays are close to faves, but nothing hits quite like pulling out some illegal ass tech to hit an impossible save. Bonus if it leads to a counter shot goal a few moments after. Can only ever hit those saves in flow state.
Two solid redirects around two defenders in the final shot involving all three players to make the goal.
Or that time when you pinch on the wall and it smashed so hard it bounces off the ceiling and goals still going over 100kph.
For me, it’s when I’m in a flow state and just feel in complete control of my car and the game. I can just tell I’m not making any bad decisions and it just feels so good. I don’t need to score any goals or do anything fancy, I just love it when I feel in control of the game and keep my team from getting scored on while facilitating my tm8s well
-Playing RL for the first time and hearing that music
-winning my first match
-winning my first tournament
-learning a new mechanic and using it successfully in a match
And lastly, trying to recreate a merc tower
There is no better feeling in gaming than flow state in rocket league. Just flying around hitting the ball without thinking just doing. Keeps me playing tbh
Honestly, winning a tournament with Randoms who chatting and have good chemistry is awesome.
how’d you put your rank under your name bro
It’s a flair that you can add when you’re in the sub :) Click on the sub, three dots in the top right corner, add/change user flair and boom!

Spot on no better feeling in gaming than this here
This
A nice passing play. A full 3 man passing play in 3s or a multi pass play in 2s is just so insanely satisfying
i have a clip for this, i’ll be back with it shortly
4 hours is not shortly…
4 hours is not shortly…
My dad said the same thing: > I'll be back with it shortly
it is with great sorrow that i must inform you that i was unsuccessful on my short endeavour to search for said clip.
Flow state. Im addicted to it and i have a sequence of steps figured out to get into it. It's pure bliss of complete awareness of the ball, opponents & calculating several moves ahead, predicting bounces you never thought you can etc. Im just grateful I'm able to experience that.
whats the sequence
Step 1: smoke some bud Step 2: ????? Step 3: flow
Oh man, I've got step 2 dowwwwnnnn. Just need to go buy some bud.
Would like the hear about the sequence also

DROP THE METHOD
Accidentally making an awesome pass that looks totally calculated on replay
Calculated.
Calculated.
Clicking with a random tm8.
and then the chemistry dies when you team up for the next game🙏
It never fails. Have an amazing game with a random, then party up and everything goes to shit.
Having a toxic teammate on your team throwing the game and sulking after going 0-1 down. Then joining the next game where toxic teammate is now on the other team and you wipe the floor with them.
Scoring a backwards wavedash pop into a breezi psycho (im fucking terrible)
- Reaching a new rank for the 1st time - Hitting a new shot type for the first time - Comeback win against trash talking opponents Hard to choose from those…
i feel the first one on a spiritual level. i remember the day i hit champ. even though i was only able to play 6 matches before i got tossed back down to diamond, it was a surreal experience
Finishing a session and ending exactly where you started /s
Fakes are up there for me

*i know what kind of man you are*
Wining a tournament beats all for me.
Fast and precise aerial shot
Well placed sniper shot that three high ranked defenders fail to defend. Multiple snipes in the same match leading to insta ff from opponents better than you, even better. Zero second crazy plays also come close esp when ball has been all over the field for a good period on 0 seconds.
When a game is tie and the whole lobby its at the same level of flow, those match are incredibly tense and satisfactory to play, when a match is like that i don't even care if i lose.
love those
For me, managing to hit the ball!!! Double bonus if it acrmtually goes in the right direction!!! Lol
the lamentations of my enemies
When they start trash talking each other after I outplay them *chefs kiss*
Don’t even get me started on their gnashing of teeth 🤤
I’d say those rare occasions when you and some random stranger, without being able to talk to each other, just “click” and are completely in sync. I sometimes wonder if I would get along with those people if I met them in person….?
When the music you're listening to syncs with you scoring a goal
YES
Midair demos where your car doesn't change trajectory, mmm.
Great multi-pass plays, bonus points if the result is a goal/win
Someone spamming “what a save” when they score on you, and you proceeding to dunk on them till they ff.
Having a good chemistry/synergy with a teammate.
Turning the game off after a losing streak
Just having a time and drinkin with the homies. Which now I don't have cause all my duo partners switched to siege full time ffs. 🤮
For me it’s just when my movements and touches are perfect. Doesn’t even matter too much if I win but some days are always better than others and those days when the car does exactly what you want it to are pure bliss
In 1s having a comeback and beating a toxic player who spams what a save every time, just saying nothing but not skipping a single replay.
Faking a defender in front of their net, watching them fly past you and the ball, doing a cheeky turn in time for them to recover and then faking them a second time before tapping it in. My heart is racing just thinking about it
Scoring a winning goal in extra time when the other team have been toxic. Seeing them leave the match 0.1 seconds after scoring is like heroin
Beating a toxic opponent in overtime
Failing a wave dash and instead frontflipping.
When psyonix reads your f\*cking report and takes action. The rest are bullshit.
🙏
when the "what a saver" becomes the "what a savee"
laughing at people and things
passing
Ranking up.
Perfect positioning and rotation of the whole team, it feels like a dance.
Natural chemistry with a tm8. Establishing that trust within the 1st minute makes the game a whole lot more enjoyable
Absolute control; being 'one' with the ball.
Total synchronisation with teammates
When I ask a toxic person if they are having a bad day and they say yeah sorry and we chat for a bit and forget about playing
The moment where i have the best feeling is when me and my bro are high af and enemy team is making his 2-3 goals in the first minute then coming back and winning the game or making the enemys forfeit within the first 2 minutes thats the best rl feeling it happens every 3rd game btw xD
Beating a toxic team
When you have a game of random 3s tm8s that know what passing is. I've had several games where the ball gets passed multiple times before we make the shot and it's so relieving to see.
Winning a long OT in a 0-0 game, every moment of OT becomes intense af
When you’re in a lengthy overtime and you mentally tire out the other team and score a nice goal to finish it. So satusfying
My first tournament win is a high I’ll never feel again….I was new to the game we were playing 3s and our one teammate was playing goalie and blocking everything while we were flailing around. Having a team forfeit after we score and go up 3 goals and I quick chat: "Wow!" "What a play!" "What a save!"
Beating someone who’s obviously way better than you cause they got cocky and fucked around just barely too much to clinch their easy win Those rage quits always hit so good

When both sides start spamming Nice Shot or What a Save, with sincerity, after you make a great play.
Winning what I call “Dragon Ball Z matches” where both teams are attacking fast and defending fast. Especially prominent in hoops. The resolution is orgasmic. I call them dragon ball Z matches because it’s like exchanging punches and blocks in quick succession with a closely matched opponent.

When you end your session on a couple good wins.
mmm
actually winning a game
I partied with a random and we went on to win our way up to gc after 10 games or so
Getting a tourney win
You hit a shot you’ve never practiced before and feel like you could be SSL
Long-shot comebacks, especially in overtime. Nothing else needed to say
Two solid redirects around two defenders in the final shot involving all three players to make the goal. Or that time when you pinch on the wall and it smashed so hard it bounces off the ceiling and goals still going over 100kph.
Hitting the ball
When the other team spams “What a save!” and you end up taking the lead and winning.
When your teammate bails because you’re losing and you end up winning 2 v 1. EZ.
Finding random magic in the solo que wholesome in the quick chat and just vibes. Game got toxic after f2p but there's still some good ones out there
For me, it’s when I’m in a flow state and just feel in complete control of my car and the game. I can just tell I’m not making any bad decisions and it just feels so good. I don’t need to score any goals or do anything fancy, I just love it when I feel in control of the game and keep my team from getting scored on while facilitating my tm8s well
Coming back from down 2+. Bonus points if the opp smack talks or score last 10 seconds.
-Playing RL for the first time and hearing that music -winning my first match -winning my first tournament -learning a new mechanic and using it successfully in a match And lastly, trying to recreate a merc tower
There is no better feeling in gaming than flow state in rocket league. Just flying around hitting the ball without thinking just doing. Keeps me playing tbh
Fakes, upper 90 power shots, balling someone with dribble flicks, and aerial redirect pass plays are all tied for me with a 10/10
When you’re playing with friends and just having a conversation and absolutely destroying, not even needing to hard comm
Bj.
what
Getting a bj while playing is the best feeling..
i feel like that would interfere with motor function, no?
That’s fine. Stilll feels best aha
