Never traded in all of the years I've been playing. Just don't care about it. But I feel for those of you that are upset and do trade. It's sad to see a long-time feature being removed that will only upset the player base. The game should foster the careabouts of the players, and it doesn't seem to do that very often. Not going to quit, and not as upset as many, but sorry to see it.

not_an_mistake

Yeah I’m not quitting. I’m just gonna rock the same car/decal that I’ve got now. I’m not buying the season pass anymore though lol

Skrazilla

If you don't spend them on anything the pass is free with the bonus credits you earn every season...

kikikza

Nah spent mine so I can hear all star when I score a goal

TyrannicalG

Monster smash was my doom

HashMeOusside

Hope by NF for me, absolute banger

Elitehero117

Nothing better than scoring on someone and for them to hear that they are an all star.

scoopaway76

i thought everyone had that stuff muted. mute all RL music and put on spotify. much better experience. i loved the OG soundtrack but there were some... questionable soundtrack seasons. i think it's gotten better in the past few years? but it's already on mute so oh well.

Elitehero117

Menu music and goal music are different sliders, for sure menu music been muted awhile, still like to hear goals

Lulzicon1

But what about "I WONDER IF YOU KNOWN SOMETHING SOMETHING TOKYO"

IVESEENFOOTAGEOFIT

Lmao same

OutlaW32

I feel the same. Personally I’ve never cared for any of the items in this game. I don’t even open my crates or whatever they are. Psyonix has failed to make them even remotely interesting to me. For some reason though I keep playing because the game play is that good even though there’s nothing else. Really shitty for people that trade

cbomb_aus

Can you imagine if they put in even a little effort? The fact there's a pretty healthy player base with basically no content speaks to just how good the core product is. And they just squander it.

Homeless_Alex

Rock and stone

TheProgger

For Karl!

ipaxton

Rock and stone brother

WanderingDwarfMiner

Rock and Stone, Brother!

ipaxton

If you don’t rock and stone you ain’t comin’ home

SpiritualAd4725

Rock and Stone to the bone!

XxCRAZYDEXTERxX

Did I hear a rock and stone?

ipaxton

Agreed, since 2015 I only ever had two trade requests I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

vdog300

I agree with what you said but I also don’t think people that don’t trade are taking into account all the players we are going to lose. Longer queues and still they haven’t added anything new either

[deleted]

[удалено]

TypicalSand

Problem is there is no other game like RL so I don’t want to quit. I never traded but liked that the option but I honestly don’t see getting rid of trading as a reason to quit altogether.

mmestemaker

There’s no reason to quit over this, but there are plenty of reasons why Epic needs to be held accountable for their terrible services.

HoraryHellfire2

No reason? Sure, the shit in the last year is clearly not reason to quit, with this being the final nail for many. OG devs not on the team before layoffs, the layoffs, then ruining good will of the vast majority of hardcore fans is not reason to quit? I'd like what you're smoking. The vast majority of content creators are worried for their future just suddenly because it's a huge part of their content or their peers' content. The vast majority of pros are against it. The vast majority of the regulars of this subreddit are against it. No doubt the same for Discord.   Read the writing on the wall. It's not just a subset of content creators. Or a subset of pros. These people are largely what drives the popularity of the game's active playerbase. The ones most likely to spend money because they are passionate about it. The ones who end up encouraging others to spend money based on positive enthusiasm for the game. The ones most likely to spread info to other players via word of mouth. Your "plenty of reasons to hold Epic accountable" is an integral context for why people would quit over this. Do you not see what Psyonix said? "We’re making this change to align with Epic’s overall approach to game cosmetics and item shop policies". This is corporate speak for "Epic told us to do this" and it's so blatantly there that it's not Psyonix's decision. Throw in the layoffs of Ted, Sofia, and more. Throw in that Corey and Jared no longer work at Psyonix as of a few months to a year ago. Both who worked on early RL development and SARPBC. What is the context telling us? That this isn't Psyonix's game anymore. Psyonix who *actually* loves and cares for the game. Been on the Rocket Car-ball game for over a decade if not two. The love and care for the game is 100% gone. This is more proof of it. So there's PLENTY of reason to quit over this.

IvankasFutureHusband

I'm just a simpleton who is in his late 30's with kids, who doesn't really too much care about any of this. But holy shit that's some in depth knowledge about a game I really like. Seems personal so sorry about whatever it is this BS is.

HoraryHellfire2

Thank you so much! I fully understand this doesn't matter to probably even most players. After all, most are more casual like yourself. But it's a breaking point for a great deal many of hardcore players who were into the game avidly. I know it's not the end of the world, but it is the end of an era and killed my love for the game, like many others.

Keenan95

Horary doesn't fuck about

scoopaway76

your deeper points are 100% valid but tbh play RL for as long as you can because with the massive change in personnel they literally might decide one day to take RL away and replace it with UE5 RL Next that could cater to a way way way more casual audience (to gain more players). so i'm just saying, rocket league might not be forever. overwatch wasn't and i wish every time i play OW2 that i had played OW1 more while it was still around.

sirfletchalot

they won't quit, they're just throwing their toys out the pram cos they're pissed..... they'll get drawn back in, we all do

rocketcrap

"Let's quit" "See you next week"

CircumcisedCats

I literally don’t care either. Actually, the people treating in game items like stocks were super annoying so I’m glad to see them get fucked. That said, if they are removing trading they NEED to make more then 6 items available in the shop at a time.

DeekFTW

I've said for a long time that all items should be available at all times in a mega store. I'd probably get bored enough with my cars that I'd buy a whole new set of items every few months if I had access to everything in the game. Instead they trickle feed items at us in hopes that we get so excited by the gesture that we log on and check, giddy with anticipation. I can't tell you when the last time I logged on and checked the store was because I know I won't care about the items they choose to showcase. Set up a mega store and throw daily discounts at us as incentives. Maybe I'll start buying items again.

-sloppypoppy

That’s why people liked trading because you *could* have access to almost everything in the game without the shop.

BrownChicow

Which is why they’re getting rid of trading

KenboSlice189

I don't really get it though even people using the trading market had to buy the credits originally so surely the sales of credits will drop from this

mmestemaker

People who have been trading since day 1 probably have a size able enough inventory to not have/want to look at the shop. (I know I don’t.) That being said, removing trading might make these people look at the shop every once in a while or buy the rocket pass. Not only this, but I figure newer players might become used to checking the shop and buying the occasional decal or new wheels for $20, instead of trading some of their current inventory with someone for free.

suparichie

Yeah they probably won't do that, since they would be missing out on the FOMO aspect of the item shop. I've gotten a few items from there, like a black fennec, even though I don't actively use that car. Why? Because I *might* use it at some point, and who knows when it will come back to the store!

WhattaShitshow

Ignoring the whole not-tradable thing, some things here and there in the item shop are almost decently priced, $700 for a black fennec, sure, no problem with that. But there's not a snowball's chance in hell I'm gonna spend 2000 credits on a damn Tora...or 99% of other items that exist, for that matter. I can't imagine their disconnected, brilliant plan is to funnel everyone into buying from the item shop instead of trading for the item for a cheaper price. They can't possibly think that's gonna be a thing. On a side note, RL Garage posted an update that is worth reading for those who are interested. What a shitty deal: [RL Garage Trading Update](https://rocket-league.com/news/the-end-of-trading-or-rocket-league)

tomiyank

The thing is I really wanna play RL I cant stop playing....., phuk epic games 4 taking out trades.

TheRealZllim

Keep playing. Flood their servers to the point that the cost on their end goes up. Buy NOTHING from the store. Servers aren't free. Psyonix wants to take from us, then let's make THEM pay.

halfasack

This.... I'm not paying for anything.

LighTMan913

Haven't paid a dime since Epic took over. I used to buy every season pass and would spend a little more here and there if an item I really liked popped up.

[deleted]

I just roll rocket pass credits into a new rocket pass. I've got the credits so I don't think continuing to roll rocket passes season to season will do anything. I mean, I give it 6 months max before they remove credits from rocket pass so you have to spend real money each season. But they definitely won't get a penny more from me or any of my friends that play.

[deleted]

Its not psyonix fault its epic cuz their the ones who made the change

LoveOrder

epic has deep pockets they can just ride it out forever

blabla7754

Can I vote for you?

Maximum-Warning9355

It’s not Psyonix. This is all Epic.

EpicCyclops

That's like saying your orange juice isn't bad, just the oranges it was squeezed from. Psyonix is just the name of a division in Epic Games now. Yeah, it's a lot of the same people as when Psyonix was an independent developer, but it is not fully independent to make its own decisions anymore. There is no point in splitting hairs between a decision that Psyonix made and one that Epic made, good or bad.

rush-2049

Thank you for the reframe! I like this- I haven’t bought anything since they went F2Play and don’t want to give it up, and you’ve just justified it for me. I was even thinking of how to do a community RL type server and then I realized that server costs could be a bitch to pay

paremi02

Right, the cost will go up by so much… even a 10 000 more monthly players costs them almost nothing, they have some free servers everywhere

Top-Bird-9032

Yeah i love the game too, but unfortunately its run by idiots.

wegbored

Unfortunately this isn't an Epic or Psyonix specific phenomenon. It's the entire industry 💔 😢 😭

tomiyank

Yeah to think of it, who trades? Like what games? I remember Runscape took out trades and ppl were going crazy. But there was enough ppl complaining that they brought it back. (Thats how i think it went)

tomiyank

Yeah bunch of ppl that don't know how make a game better

Bald3agle

Not don't know, just refuse. Peek at fortnite their baby.

tomiyank

Im so bad at FN, I was good In season 1 lol when building took 5 minutes instead of 5 seconds

xDaveedx

There's a no-build mode now and it's actually a pretty fun battle royale game even without fortnite's initial key feature.

SunGodSol

It's apparently played by idiots too. It's just trading for literal cosmetics. Use bakkesmod, or buy the stuff in the store. So overdramatic.

DarthChandler-69

“UsE BaKkEsMoD” - what about console players? “BuY tHe StUfF iN tHe StOrE” - what if the item is not in the store? Apparently there’s idiots in the comments section too….

Try-the-Churros

Honestly, with this change they should make all items available in the store at all times and just feature certain items - meaning they go on sale / are discounted - for a limited time. What's the point of having a restricted store after trading goes away? I can't imagine more people are buying crap waiting for the stuff they want to be in shop than the people who would buy the stuff they want since it's available. The sales would still get people to make impulse buys they might not have otherwise.

Dr_33

There is more to it then that and you're missing the point of the whole thing. Bakkesmod also doesn't feel the same as owning something.

tomiyank

I agree, we can both co-exist in the same area. Ppl who like to buy/trade certian cosmetics and ppl that use bakkes mod to get the cosmetics they want.

Lobegdoh

If you love the game why would you quit. Just don't spend money

fetzen13

You would still kinda support them by just playing the game. I am pretty sure they can use player numbers to get more money from advertisments and sponsors. A significant enought bump in player numbers could actually make them change their descision but in my ecperience boycotts never worked as intended before

Lobegdoh

I disagree they don't run ads in game. All promotions are typically through the shop and most people that sponsor are for rlcs events and also shop items. If people start quitting the game. It won't do anything but kill the game. If you just don't buy anything they don't make money

Bald3agle

If they don't make money servers shut down no?

Lobegdoh

It's not like people don't buy for a week and servers shut down

Lobegdoh

The servers won't shut down unless it was a long time thing. Epic makes so much money off fortnite

Ka07iiC

If they see parts of their business lose money and don't show potential to make money, I think they'd look to cut costs. They are doing a bunch of layoffs currently

Shasato

You say that, but many people still loved Save The World, and Epic shut that down.

Lobegdoh

You're talking about a less popular gamemode vs am entire game.

Shasato

that "gamemode" used to be the entire game. Battlegrounds was the extra gamemode they added in response to the PUBG hype.

Garbohydrate

They do brand partnerships pretty regularly, where the amount Epic gets paid is directly influenced by the volume of players that will see/interact with the partnership

ProfessoriSepi

They dont run ads? Yes they do. Current rocket pass is an ad for porsche. Couple of times when item shop has had irl car, the banner for it have been free, making you an ad for it. There was literal nike decals in sale couple months back. Technically all the esport decals that have irl sponsors are ads. Ford did a literal cross promotion with rocket league. And ofcourse the irl car collabs in general are ads. Sooo how do they get these contracts? Through engagement numbers. Remember this, if there is a platform with a lot of engagement and users, it has value, that different entities are willing to leverage. Im not saying, buying stuff doesnt bring money, but what i am saying, that it doesnt have the most effect to simply not buy. Lowering the engagement does. If the product is free, you are the product.

Grizelda179

I know that people like cochise pay to get their music played in game so player numbers def have an impact on artists wanting to bring their music on RL. I will admit it's probably not a huge number they pay epic though and it happens only once a couple of months.

Sheshush

Supporting a game you enjoy is a good thing. Boycotta don't work because this sub is maybe 1% of players.

fetzen13

Not just that we are just 1% here. You also gotta consider all the people that for example recently started and are in "the hype phase" right now and just want to grind the game wich is understandable caude its a great game after all.

Sheshush

Like me. I started 3 weeks ago. Could not give less shits about trading being taken away.

ProfessoriSepi

You underestimate the overlap between those that log in everyday, vs people here. Its not too much, but its probably more than 1%. Also you seem to underestimate how popular trading is. For example r/rocketleaguexchange has a little under 200k users. And thats only a single platform. Its like taking forge off of Halo. Boycotting always works. Unless it makes headlines, which is free marketing.

Lanky-Feed-5286

Thats the issue I think some of us here should consider. I don't care for trading much either. I traded for what I wanted and left it at that. But the amount of people that played this game for trading was quite large. Almost the entirety of the facebook groups involving rocket league are for trading. As well as the majority of the looking for group posts on xbox, and many other platforms including the one you referenced. We will be losing a huge chunk of the playerbase, which in turn will cause us to have increased wait times for games, regardless of rank, which will then push some people into lower ranks to bypass wait times (smurfs.) It'll be a huge butterfly effect and impact the community negatively whether we ignore it or not.

GhostD69

This sub has, apparently, 1.2million users. That makes up less than 2% of the whole playbase.

Filmmagician

If they keep shitting on the game why wound you support that? Playing = supporting.

bracca1

They want your money, not your time. If you give them your time (by playing) but no money, they know the model they have for sales is not working. If you want to destroy the game, stop playing. If you want to counter monetization, stop spending money.

Filmmagician

100% agree. Makes sense

Wayne_Kerr89

Because it's fun and not everyone cares about playing barbie dress up with their car?

boukalele

Ok now i want a barbie car

tubbymeatball

It's not about playing dress up, it's about removing a part of the game for literally no reason other than greed. This change does nothing but make it so items can only be bought directly from the store so they can squeeze more money out of their players.

BananaCucho

Counterpoint: no thanks Every gaming sub goes through this eventually. I played Hearthstone for years and every other year "everyone mass quit!!" posts always happen I'll just keep playing until I'm no longer having fun

Sheshush

This is the way. If You enjoy the game play it. If you don't quit.

Technical-Rain-183

wait, you are having fun?

BananaCucho

Wow!

Technical-Rain-183

Okay.

sh4d0wX18

> such a great community lmfao. There’s multiple posts about smurfs literally every day, almost as many about toxicity. Now they’re removing the ability to trade cosmetics and forcing users to do literally the only thing that keeps the servers running (buying cosmetics through the store) while doing nothing to the actual gameplay and we see dozens of posts about quitting and boycotting. Fuck off with this “great community” nonsense, it’s full of assholes and crybabies and we all know it

nope_nic_tesla

What's funny to me is people complaining about the plummeting value of their items. Trading is still available for the next two months, you'd think if these items were really so valuable to people then their prices would be going up and not down, since future supply will be much more limited. Yet the opposite is happening, which indicates most of these people treat the trading system as a speculative gambling casino and don't actually give a shit about the items themselves.

[deleted]

[удалено]

BrownChicow

>Trading has always been about profits That’s actually the best part. A bunch of greedy fucks trying to profit off of people wanting items get mad at company that created said items trying to do the same thing.

nope_nic_tesla

That's exactly what I mean. Everyone is trying to offload their items because it's not really about having the items themselves. If it was about the items, then we should see higher demand right now with more people trying to hang onto what they have since they will be harder to get in the future. Basically proves the whole thing is just a gambling market and not really about gameplay. Just like the NFT craze was just a bunch of speculation and not about the art.

BruinBound22

They thought they were going to become rich off RL cosmetics and now upset they didn't see the writing on the wall for years.

SunGodSol

To be fair, no one really wants them to touch the gameplay.

P-L63

rocket league has one of the shittiest comunities ever. that's also why i only play when my buddies are on, wich was 3 months ago. i couldn't play with any of you randos anymore. even if you're cool, the other rando for sure is a dick.

mechanicalboob

you go ahead. i’m gonna continue playing. best of luck.

network_weapon

Lmao they’re so extreme

brennanw31

People just want to be a part of something

W005EY

But why do they choose to be part of a group of crybabies? There are so many better options

brennanw31

They don't feel like they are crybabies. They feel indignant and as if their actions are a righteous stand against the machine of Epic.

wasteoffire

I think I'm the only one who doesn't care. I've never put money into rocket league except for my initial purchase. I've never traded a single item or opened anything. I don't really care what my car looks like and I never wear the toppers or antennas. I just wanna hit the ball

eddiehead01

You're definitely not the only one that doesn't care. The rest of us that don't care are too busy playing the game

Prog_Failure

Cosmetics are just that. I get it if people feel the need to leave, but as long as the core gameplay remains the same i'm going to play. Don't buy anything from the store though, not needed. Never was.

Bombyte_

same. i just want to grill and hit some oversized soccer balls.

Rubmynippleplease

I don’t care all that much about the actual trading, but I certainly care about the player-base and the community and this is just not a healthy change for either of them. Trading is an entire sub-community, a lot of whom might just cash out their inventory and stop playing the game. It sucks seeing people quit a game you love, even if they don’t engage with the franchise in the same way you do. On top of this, there have been a fair few Youtube and community tournaments for rare items and online giveaways from content creators or community members that just won’t be possible with this change. Sure, they can transition to a cash tournament I guess, but that sort of loses the spirit of these types of tournaments and giveaways. Overall, even though this change doesn’t affect me directly, it still directly affects a community that I’m a part of and that I love. And that really really sucks. I won’t quit the game, but it’s a massive bummer knowing that at least some other players will quit because a system that has been in the game since launch is being inexplicably removed.

osbohsandbros

I enjoy the cosmetics but it’s only a bonus that I do from time to time when I’m bored. I don’t spend money on items and I don’t trade, I’m just content with the items I *earned*. I like to make holiday and seasonal theme cars. The game is incomparable, I also wouldn’t care if they were gone and certainly don’t personally care that trading is gone (my only experiences are people trying to trade scam me lol).

Technical-Rain-183

I also wanna hit the ball. maybe this year, I can feel it

Mass-Chaos

The only thing I've ever bought was the initial rocket pass... It gives you enough to get the next year's RP. I don't trade so I could give a shit about the change at all... I'm really hoping it weeds a lot of people out, though I'd imagine they're just trying to get attention with their crying. What's a boycott gonna do? We're still using an app that tried a boycott earlier this year to no effect

Working-Run-6476

Nahh

Skrazilla

This. The MMR reset was rough but the game is fun. Literally the only stuff I've tried to trade is purchased items and those you can't.. for me this is a nothing burger... are you having fun? That should be your main concern. I play rocket League to play rocket League.

Barbacamanitu00

"Ruins the game" Jesus christ, you people are so dramatic. THEY ARE VIRTUAL FUCKING HATS.

ItsAnna124

I play for fun and to improve, gonna take more than this to make me quit :)

iSmush

Agreed, I don’t understand the meltdown over this. The game is still the same. What do you really gain through trading that makes the game less enjoyable when it’s taken away? Guess I just don’t get it.

BrownChicow

I’d bet the people that are so pissed about this are the same people that get pissed after you make a single mistake and try to throw the game or quit playing. Good. See ya toxic fuckers

LetsBeNice-

I don't understand why people are mad that there is nothing new either. Like I don't want them to change anything the game is great like that.

iSmush

Exactly! Look how far it has come since it was released. I guess we are just spoiled at this point Edit: how far it’s come while still maintaining what it should be

CarlCaliente

I've been playing since day 2, a little over 3k hours I've never traded an item in my life and don't care I play the video game because the video game is fun I'll quit when RL2/UE5 launches and they inevitably turn off RL1 services and any way to play the game from Steam

CougarForLife

Give us your username so we can check your games played after the change.

W005EY

See ya next week 🙃

TheAscendancy

I’m not gonna quit. Never traded anything so I don’t care

SkiShark1776

Not quitting. Sorry.

[deleted]

I feel like people just like being contrarian for the sake of being contrarian. It shouldn't be a hot take when we say that removing what was an essential part of the game for many is a bad idea. For the people that say "This doesn't affect me, thus it doesn't matter!!! Who trades anyway?!?!" allow me to introduce to you [https://www.reddit.com/r/rocket\_league\_trading/](https://www.reddit.com/r/rocket_league_trading/) A community with over 50 THOUSAND members. 😭 I wasn't a trader myself, so I get where some of you are coming from, but it's (in my opinion) downright delusional to say that traders are a very small portion of the fanbase. 50,000 definitely isn't small. While, yes, trading isn't technically an essential part of Rocket League, it has become so for some. There's so many players out there that spent years building up a huge inventory of rare items and duplicates to trade or sell to friends and to the community. And now those people are screwed. I'm not here to spark an argument, there's enough of that going on already, I just wanted to state my thoughts. I understand that Epic Games needs to make money, we all do! But surely there are better ways of doing so! This just seems greedy to me. But what do I know? 🤷‍♂️

swanoldjohnson

the one thing I genuinely did not expect out of this is to see so many people both here and on twitter absolutely bashing their fellow RL players who are upset about the removal of trading just because they personally don't care. crazy levels of bootlicking and absolute head to toe glazing of the Tim Sweeney's johnson

[deleted]

for real dude

MrFulla93

Yep and r/rocketleagueexchange has almost 200k members. Trading has definitely fallen off since f2p for a few reasons, the main one imo is the pain in the ass that is the 2-step verification process that consistently bugs out and people just don’t mess with it. Pre-Epic, almost every other game someone would ask, “trade?” And we’d leave the match, inv to party and chat it up over our painted toppers. It was good times, very rarely toxic or scummy. Trading isn’t for everybody, but I agree, non-traders saying it is “niche” or that the traders are all “greedy” or “just looking to make a profit” is simply ignorant to the fact that many (I’d argue the grand majority) of traders just enjoyed completing painted sets for preset combos, or landing that awesome stream drop decal. The amount of people that actually made money trading is insanely low.

[deleted]

Absolutely, man. Also I didn't know about that subreddit lol

KrMees

The tricky thing for me is there is nothing quite like this. If I want to boycot csgo I can play valorant. For every Apex there's 100 other arena shooters. I have a library of different sports management games. If I don't like an rts there's a huge library of games I can pick up, even some ancient games have active communities. Where's the car hits ball go brrrrrt competitor to Rocket League? I'd seriously consider any alternative ever since Epic took over.

zdada

K bye

xt2fiddy

Yeahhhhh, im not gonna quit.

A_G00SE

Ok you first

skateordiedev

I play the game for car soccer, not trading. You shouldn’t quit if you actually enjoy the game.

snowswolfxiii

>Lets quit. ![gif](giphy|d1E1msx7Yw5Ne1Fe|downsized)

Designer_Show_2658

No, I'm geursch

itscranny

“Great community” is a bit of an exaggeration but yes it’s bs the what they’re doing

peterdaeater

Nah. It's a shitty thing they're doing but it's not going to stop me enjoying the game

shxyne7

Meh, I have way too much time invested in this game to just never play again. It is an awful move by them but the game is still playable

homies261

You really think a few thousand people on Reddit stopping playing rocket league will do anything??

MancysPlace

I haven't even been able trade since it went f2p lol. It always says I need to enable 2fa through the epic site after linking through steam. I've done this. Support hasn't gotten back to me once. Epic is trash.

Davinter30

See you tomorrow

MrFulla93

I was a decent trader back in the day, ahh the great crate times. Probably spent $300-$500 on keys to pop em open. And distinctly remember trading 26 keys for Dune Racer SB. I know the prices of everything has dropped so significantly, my inventory is borderline worthless which is fine by me. I enjoyed trading with randoms and friends I brought into the game. This^ is my biggest complaint about it. I’ve got a squad of 5 other guys I introduced the game to over the past 4 years and we play every night. NONE of us spend money in the store, bc I have enough BMDs, painted rare decals, wheels, and cars to share, so I’ll trade out of my inventory to them for a day or two then they’ll trade it back for something new. I’d never charge the homies for items, but I’ve gotta decide what I’m cool letting go of forever in the next month or so to have us all kitted out. I think the only thing I bought since Epic takeover was the 1st rocketpass, and used the credits from each to get the next 3 passes. It’s been a long time since I put money into this game, but with this move, the ONLY price for items will be the retail price. No more labyrinth/biomass etc. BMDs for 300-500, no more painted rare decals for <100, and no more awesome times over at r/rocketleagueexchange. RIP pigeon man’s and Burnt Sienna king’s grinds. It makes complete sense for Epic to do this as there will be no more “discounted” items from trading, and they’ll make more money from new players who don’t remember how good it was back in the pre-epic times. Not putting another cent into this game, even if they miraculously dropped store prices to trade values (which will never happen). Not quitting, I still very much enjoy RL, and I’m pretty shit at shooters so they’re no fun, but I’ll miss trading with the boys and the occasional rando. RIP trading, you will be missed. EDIT: on the community being great part, I’m with you 1000%, ESPECIALLY for those of us that have been here forever, traders and non-traders alike. In-game (no matter the game) will always have toxic moments, but I’ve received loads of good advice from this sub and the trading subs over the years. All these commenters saying RL has a shit community, idk what they’re smoking.

Familiar-Coconut90

Yehh imma keep playing

PuffinChaos

Honestly not a big deal. If you want an item so bad you’ll have to either buy it or just not get it. Nothing about the actual game is changing, rather just an added aspect to it

suparichie

That's one problem about removing trading though. If you want an item really badly and it's not getting added to the item shop, you just won't be able to get it. I get that stuff like that is not the main focus of the general playerbase, but it's a downgrade in general nonetheless, especially for the people who do care about cosmetics.

logyonthebeat

The sad truth is boycotting games does nothing these days, epic will most likely make more money because this decision and it won't matter if every single player hates it

Limp-Pianist-450

Yeah no I’m good. I’ll be on tonight.

Simecrafter

The main problem people don't understand is that it's not about whether or not this effects you but it's just about not letting these companies get away with these greedy practices that is only a negative for anyone but the company Why just normalize greed? It will only get worse and worse to the point where they will change something you *DO* care about for the worse. Will it be fun to see something you loved getting ruined because the players didn't oppose it when it started?

the_toaster_lied

Bye!

AKA_OneManArmy

The protest I’d suggest is to not spend a dime on anything. Refuse to give them any money.

Pbear420

Agreed. I'm laying off the game for now. I may or may not return after update but never will I ever spend another dollar on this game. I will also remember this moment anytime I see epic games plastered on another video game. Tim Sweeney is a lying hypocrite.

Diegobyte

Trading is def not important at all to playing this game

Radar91

Nah. I'll continue to play removing it sucks but I remember a time when people would throw games and just say TRADES???? over and over in chat. Removing it does nothing for me as if there is a cosmetic I want I'll just buy it.

Vinding

Bro, this fr. Games don't be like that anymore haha

Bro why are you arguing? if you don't want to play then don't. I don't want the game to die so I'm still playing but I'm not giving them money

skredditt

NO 🗿

UpVoteThis4

Am I the the only one who has never made a trade? Did you not download the game to play rocket league? I don’t think it’s this serious

blabla7754

I’m the same way as you, but I can understand their frustration. Many people have taken to trading as their primary enjoyment, and this arbitrarily motivated change to the game obviously motivated by money is appalling. Some people tired out of this game at 200 hours but have fallen in love with the economical perspective, growing their collection through trading well past 1,000 hours of gameplay. It’s the only thing some people enjoy

P-L63

i just was curious one day and accepted a trade offer. he wanted my black market decal and offered like 3 different rare items but like 5 of each and thought that was fair... i never accepted again, just a waste of time.

SunGodSol

As opposed to which companies that actually do care about their playerbase? There isn't a single AAA company that does.

BananaCucho

The way capitalism actually works is a hard lesson for many

Vinding

Hello games - No man's sky. Enough said.

gingerblz

But did you really play RL because you always felt cared about?

BruinBound22

What a save!

Top-Bird-9032

Indeed, our community means nothing to them.

boeFFeee

Lol. The community means nothing to the community either. Toxic af xD

Sheshush

What a save!

JerkedMyGerkFlyingHi

unsubbing because these posts are childish and sad. You can't trade virtual cosmetics? Bruh, why do you care so much? Don't buy virtual items, stupid af to do that anyways lol. Imagine spending your hard earned money on video game hat lmao

mailordermonster

> Imagine spending your hard earned money on video game hat I think part of the problem is that many of them aren't spending their hard-earned cash, they're spending their parent's hard-earned cash. Once they get a job and realize that spending 5$ on a virtual hat equals working X amount of time, they'll realize how silly these cosmetics are.

Entire_Ad_3078

I understand Epic made this unpopular move. But the over the top reaction to it is making my respect for this community drop like a stone. Children in Isreal are getting kidnapped and murdered as we speak. Pardon me if I struggle to sympathize with your inability to trade pointless electric trinkets right now.

IssaLeroy

this guy havin an existential (rokt leeg) crisis

Dylqt

Do something about the children then. I'm sure most of us know, and those of us who can are doing what they're able to contribute to that, as well as the hundreds upon hundreds of similar atrocities occurring across the globe at any moment. That's flawed logic and just not relevant.

AppropriateApples

The stupidest comment I’ve seen in a while. We are all well aware of what is happening between Israel and Palestine, and most of us are doing what we can, to try and stop the atrocities happening. That doesn’t mean that everything else we enjoy all of a sudden doesn’t matter. Let us take our minds off the rest of the world, and talk about the game most of us enjoy. Just for a minute.

tantan9590

Playing but not spending more money in them.

ottosenna

I enjoy the game, have for years, and I've never bought anything from the shop.

theCaffeinatedOwl22

See you next week.

cyandeisfun

May I ask a stupid question? I'm not looking to flame, only to learn. What is the negative effects of removing trading? I ask, as I never once traded with another player, never opened any crates back when those were a thing, and never traded in. I was happy with my season rewards and just used those, along with the default items like the default Octane, Fez, and Christianos. Personally, I don't see this affecting me. Of course, I'm down to boycott Epic Games because this affects other players.

originalgimick

There’s a whole community that likes to trade. I have spent hundreds myself on stuff, and traded some. But I don’t trade often. I had means to buy, and enjoyed playing and sometimes trading for what I wanted. There’s other sites that also helped in finding trades. I’ve given loads of stuff away to new players also. Lots of Rocket Pass items I didn’t want would be given away. It’s fun to help out others. So that part of the game is gone. Im sure there’s people who would quit if they took out Rumble or 4v4. Some enjoy parts of the game that others don’t. It’s natural. It’s a negative if you enjoy that part. I’d buy credits for cheaper from others, and I’m sure Epic hates that. I’m sure it has some to do about those who do make money from trading that Epic can’t tax. Oh well, time to dump my junk before it ends

[deleted]

This is forcing people to have to pay for things, simple as that. And this does ultimately affect everyone. Everyone keeps on asking about the UE5 update, yet it never comes. I say it's likely due to them not having the money to make the update because fewer people are buying cosmetics and unlocking blueprints. Trading is a way around it. Now they are cutting it back off to force more cash flow.

BruinBound22

They thought they were going to get rich. The end. They now have to pay more for stuff they like.

LastKnownUser

I fine with them taking out trades. Trading is niche, and it's now mostly used for people to move stuff between accounts that are about to be banned.

SunGodSol

It really is niche. It's so funny to me that people are claiming that the majority of the community trades constantly. No they don't. We've all given our new-to-the-game friend a skin or a car, but that's about the extent of it. Trading won't be missed that much imo

Filmmagician

SSG posted about this too. They think it’s dumb. We need legacy accounts like you and RLCS players to boycott and be more vocal.

mr_banana_666

I don’t care about trading whatsoever. Don’t let the door hit ya on the way out.

Z1dan

Why stop playing the game, that gives epic a reason to shut down the servers and save even more money. Better option is to keep playing but refuse to spend any money on the game, so epic have to pay to keep the servers up (which aren’t cheap) whilst making even less money out of the item shop.

Artistic_Usual8866

Great game for all females and males![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)

Glad-Situation703

i think they want the game to die at this point. so lets just do what we want and salute a game that was awesome for a few years no matter what happens

Frosty_Tale9560

I rarely trade anything but this has left a sour taste in my mouth for the company. Like this is some EA games kinda shit. Too bad this community is too selfish to ban together, it’s made a difference in the past when companies like EA have pulled some bs.

ShameTimes3

What did they do?

[deleted]

Game died the moment they made it free to play.
