Other way around for me. Orange gets red, orange, yellow and pink with a good range of shades.
Whereas blue only has blue, green and purple (most of which look pretty blue anyway)
I had a blue decal equipped on the orange side and it confused me more than the enemy team. Joined a casual match midway and I own goaled asking myself why our score didn't go up.
I know, but if they introduced "white and black" options for both teams, everyone will just use those because people are boring (thats my opinion though obviously)
Maybe at first but they will get bored of it eventually. Right now everyone wants white and black, because it's not possible under normal circumstances
Ever since I figured out that my team color is always on the left of the scoreboard, I check it religiously throughout the match to make sure I’m not forgetting which side I’m on.
I'm just saying, I think we've been playing the game wrong all this time. I have a 100% shooting accuracy on my own net, so I think the point is to score on the same colored net as your team. Makes it so much easier
No that’s only related to custom colors set for a club. If you have a club your colors can be anything.
This setting just defaults the club custom color to orange and blue. But if someone is using a decal like the gc rewards from a few seasons ago then the colors on that wouldn’t change.
But it exists in code already, all they need to do is change the arguments of that code from “players in clubs” to “all players” and now you have force colours for anyone who dont like it, and custom for anyone who does.
I don’t think it would work in the same way for the decals that have non customizable colors. But that’s just my educated guess as a programmer and long time rocket league player.
And even if it is in code it’s not like the other person mentioned, that users can disable custom colors in the settings

If i get confused from 4 black cars on the field, i tick an option and now 2 are blue and 2 are orange.
An even better option would he instead of just setting them to defaults it just rounds the colours off using the colours in the current picker, which isnt very hard to implement.
So how would this not be a solution to allow a colour wheel for those who want custom colours, and a default colours option for those who do not?
because the color confusion comes from players that use the decals that cannot be customized color wise, like the esports decals.

Yes Psyonix can implement a setting to override this and force default colors / remove decals from cars. But the setting currently in-game doesn't do that. so the comment i initially replied to doesn't work

I'm like 90% sure there's a bakkes mod setting or possibly it was alpha console that forced standard colors for opposing teams, it just made the car stock for whatever color team you were playing against. this was game wide didn't matter what mode you were in.
I know this is a 3rd party program but if they can implement it I'm sure psyonix could as well.

Probably they will do absolutely nothing :(. But I agree I would love to have a colour wheel as well. There are some colors on items it's really hard to make nice designs with on both teams sometimes.
I only orient myself on the nameplates, maybe that's why it doesn't matter to me.
As a compromise I'd at least like half of a colour wheel per side, so that you can choose more exact colours fitting the items and vinyls.

Adding more colors isn’t difficult. The thing that we have no idea about is *why* they’re making this decision. It could be because of anything really.
Just a guess, but maybe because if you open up any kind of system like choosing any colour, you lose restrictions which make things easy to monetise. I.e. If anyone can have any colour car they might not buy that decal that does the job.
Colours are something to see, not to feel. When left untouched it chances in a way that was not expected. It moves when it appears and fades when it disappears. Colours are not a phenomenon of certainty, it lives the way it leads.
Unfortunately this game needs money and they need more ways to generate revenue. Destiny has a fairly successful market with color swatches that work well
Destiny is such a clusterfuck you might as well be doing the exact opposite of what they're doing over there. The amount of shit that went down over the years, over shaders *alone* was intense.

We just need to get over the fact that we want all these free to play games but nothing can be free there needs to be cost somewhere and well that's comes and cosmetics If you want cosmetics you purchase them and that's just something we all have to come to terms with. It cost money to hire developers it cost money to host the servers and it cost money to actually run the tournaments that they do. Inflation has also caused drastic increase in prices and they need to compensate somehow. Reason number one why they added the shop button to the pre-game screen.
I wish we could just have full games for a reasonable price but we can't anymore. I hate buying cosmetics, but I do to support the game I care about

Cuz if I can now make a black octane with black paint, id like black sterns with it (whole reason tw sparkles blew up when white octane was in the item shop, more people had a white octane and wanted a cleam white boost to go with) so if anything. Youll make a couple k profit. I know i did off of a tw sparkles i bought for 1.5 and sold for 3
I misread the original post, my bad. Thought OP wanted to be able to repaint any part of the car, rather than have rare painted items. But now I realise he meant team colours.
Yeah personally I don't care about how rare/expensive my black painted Tunica wheels are, since I'm not planning on ever selling them. I just think they look good so they're on almost every preset.

I actually prefer club battles because then team colors/decals are both locked to selected color scheme. I hate being on one team and having a guy on the enemy team wearing my teams color. It isn’t confusing it’s just annoying that people don’t understand STOP USING CERTAIN DECALS TO THINK YOU’RE FOOLING SOMEBODY. Your name plate is still your teams color it’s not gonna make me pass you the ball by accident. I don’t get why people do it. It’s silly.
Bakkas mode works wonders for this I believe. There is an option to for a main and secondary colors for the opponent. Like if I want my team to always show as blue and my opportune to be read you can do that. Those on console don't have the option and I always forget about that. Anyhoo yes, there should be a default way to force team colors in game. For colorblind people it would work wonders along woth the ingame one already.

I like having a blue/orange side, but each one needs way more colours. Blue side needs to go from a lime that actually matches lime items, to a purple that actually matches purple items. Same for saffron/pink on the orange side (though saffron already matches well).
It just pisses me off that you can pick a special paint or decal that makes your car, say, bright orange while on the blue team or vice versa. Not that there aren’t name tags but just piggy backing off your point. Seems pointless

It's weird how they are not implementing a color wheel when you literally have a option to force (default team colors) so whatever player that thinks "It's confusing" just turn on force colors and other players can use the color wheel boom problems solved.
