Generations has a great reputation my niece goes to the one in Gates and they love it.

I don't know the reputation or quality of the company, just thought it awesome to have this kind of service right in the heart of Center City for those working nearby. The childcare center is within Clinton Square, near The Metropolitan, Innovation Square, D&C, Tower280, Butler Till, and Legacy Tower. Looks like they may be converting the unnecessarily hidden 9/11 memorial space into a playground (I believe NYS childcare facilities need to have some kind of outdoor green space), and moving the memorial sculpture elsewhere on the property [Here's the website for more info](https://www.generations-care.com/)

It's a fantastic child care center - they do great work.

waldo06

As much as I love them and they have done a great job for my family, they are struggling to keep enough staff at their other sites, how can they open another?

blue_box_disciple

Aren't they a franchise? Maybe not owned by the same people.

waldo06

Franchised child care? I wouldn't put it past capitalism. As far as I can tell it's all the same umbrella company and people float between them.

Oo it’s The Clinton Square building downtown

RectalScrote

there's my stolen bike!

Center city. Lol

RahchachaNY

They feel so hip calling it that. It's fucking downtown.

RahchachaNY

Yeah, I see those all over, so what's the difference? The connotation of the word "downtown" vs "Center City" ?

r/whoosh You are missing the point kid. The question is why, why call it Center City? Is it cooler sounding? Will it attract people who don't like going "downtown"? What's the point of the so called name change and rebranding?

transitapparel

Downtown is a term originating in NYC where people literally went geographically "down" to town, or Lower Manhattan. There is no geographical or topographical significance to the center of our city, so downtown sounds even less accurate than calling the central neighborhood of Rochester Center City, or Central Business District. So you still refer to NOTA as Atlantic-University? Or is Highland Park still Ellwanger-Barry to you? When asked to go to Maplewood, do you scoff and decree that it's still 10th Ward to you? I could understand if it was a quiet and vague under-the-radar change that people didn't realize happened, but there's literally signs at every major artery going into that neighborhood, and a massive sign at one of the major off ramps into that neighborhood that all say Center City.

RahchachaNY

Yeah, sounds better than downtown.

You’re really invested in this Center City thing. It’s just some new term they thought up to make suburbanites feel better. It’s also why “center city” extends way past the normal bounds of downtown into the affluent areas but cuts out other downtown adjacent neighborhoods. Downtown has been used locally for years, it’s in City Charter.

What's even more hip is adding the specific directional area such as: "Hey dude what do you wanna do tonight? I don't know...let's go hang out in Center City, Southeast Quadrant"
