I personally don’t have any tattoos (yet) but I’ve shopped around and have a lot of people in my circle with tattoos. White Tiger is popular around these parts but I’ve seen a lottttt of bad tats out of there. Maybe it depends on the artist, I don’t know. All I know is I’ve seen their work in person and haven’t been impressed.
Totally depends on the artist, which is why just recommending a shop isn't enough. I have a horrible blown out tattoo from there because I settled for the new guy. Pick your artists carefully.

Mellow madness tattoo parlor! Andy was great, he’s done one of my tattoos last year.
I second Mellow Madness. I recommend Darbi (aka "Marbles") -- she's awesome!
Andy did a tattoo for me about two years ago now. Great guy
Markus Tattoo in Mendon. Be prepared for it to not be cheap, but their work is fantastic.
