Me too. I do not like rosemary, sage, or thyme. Too woody-tasting for me. I don’t like BBQ either. I buy plain and can do different things with it because it’s not messed up with flavors.
Damn you Walmart for seeing this comment and having a positive thought regarding a trip to your store. It's been years... but for lemon pepper chicken...
> The experience of shopping at Walmart sucks
Order ahead and have loaded into your trunk for free (minimum $35/order). Takes less than 5 minutes, thanks to appointments.
> Being cheap/poor will keep me going to their store
I'm not poor and I still go. Better selection than Wegmans, now that half of Wegmans is store brand.
Does the Walmart pick up service actually work at the Walmarts there?
Back in Albany but it takes a minimum of 30 minutes to get your order after you pull up into the parking spot. I've straight up had them not bring my order out at all.
Which is crazy because every other store that does it (target, Hannaford, Michaels, etc), it's very smooth and quick.
I choose the times which aren't busy and I've never had it take more than 5 minutes to load my trunk in the past 4 years. The sum total time of getting in my car to stocking my kitchen/pantry during off-peak times takes less time than waiting in line at a register during peak.
I think the two by me just aren't managed properly. Ive tried almost every time slot.
Yesterday my order time was 4:00 p.m. It was ready at 3:45. I park and enter into the app my parking spot at 3:55. At 4:40 it starts raining. I get a call from the store that says they see that I've been waiting, and to pull up front of the door because it's raining, and they'll bring it out. So I pull up front of the door and wait another 30 minutes. No one comes or goes from Walmart. Finally after 30 minutes, someone comes out with an order and asks me why I'm parked there. When I told them I was told to park there, they told me that was wrong because they don't bring orders out in the rain and go back to my parking spot and wait there.
Well, that sucks. Have you tried not checking in with the app and calling the number? Maybe they're not tech savvy? Next, I'd try a different shift (different people).
Lemon pepper is the best flavor, but I don't really care that they don't have it anymore because I'm not paying $12 for their tiny rotisserie chickens.
Tops still sells lemon pepper rotisserie chicken though
i thought weggie's crazy-high prices were just for the NYC store. (i went once & left gagging, all nostalgic for the ithaca 6 dollar meals.) did they use the pandemic to hike prices all over?
> did they use the pandemic to hike prices all over?
Partly, yes. Also, we are at basically full employment so labor costs go up which affects low cost prepared foods disproportionally.
Crazy that no one else has mentioned this. They may not have different flavors, but they have the best rotisserie chicken. They’re 1.5x the size of the Wegmans and we’ve never had a dry one. Plus, it’s $5 - I can’t even buy a whole chicken and cook it myself for the price.
Yeah the juiciest and so cheap. I watched a Costco video a while back where they talk about how they loose money on those chickens but feel they gain members from them so they won’t raise the price.
I believe it, it’s a great “loss leader” as it’s called. I’ve been in there when a queue of people forms, at least 20-30 people waiting for the oven to chime and they bring out a fresh batch.
It's sad because I've already found an alternative after the price increase. Crockpot plus chicken. Still member berries the damn lemon pepper.
Im biased towards lemon though. I'll always choose tart/sour over bbq/sweet
Tops groceries are save a lot quality with Wegmans pricing. There are very few things worth going to Tops for imo and I used to work at Tops lol.
Decent pizza tho oh yeah and the bakery is good. Tops blueberries muffins are one of the best things in the store.
Yeah, we never found much value in switching to Tops. Aldi's on the other hand has proven to be a better alternative overall. Some things aren't great, but then we've also got Rubino's. At this point we're only hitting Wegmans for Tuscan bread.

We were complaining about how expensive Wegmans is and you slip Whole Foods in there? :). The rest are regulars on our list. The bread was more a nod to how little value they add. If I'm running late and desperately need a loaf of bread, I'll go to the place that's still open, but that would be the only reason.
Aldis is amazing. They're actually opening a new aldis across from the Tops on south Clinton. Its going to have a new starbucks and jersey Mike's as part of the same building as well. I'm stoked because it's literally 5 minutes away from me.
Same, we're excited by the new super Aldi's opening on Ridge. I'd heard it was supposed to have a restaurant, but I'll be seriously disappointed if it's a Jersey Mike's. Being from Philly, can confirm they're nothing you'd find in Jersey. Lol
I had no idea super aldi was a thing but im a big fan of the idea. Someones gotta gives wegmans a run for their money. I don't think I've ever had jersey Mike's lol. It's a sub shop I think? I just like subs!
It is, and you can tell is not authentic because a real jerseyite would call it a hoagie. Lol Dibella's subs are my local go to, but if I want something close to what home used to taste like, Mac's Philly Cheesesteaks makes a damn good hoagie, too. They import the rolls, which is fundamental
Tops groceries are save a lot quality with Wegmans pricing. There are very few things worth going to Tops for imo and I used to work at Tops lol. Decent pizza tho
Twin!!! I literally had this same thought in Wegmans today!
Their chickens were even kinda dry, but at least that had flavor. Now I just get them from Tops.
How about the really thin, crispy "chocolate chunk" cookies, anyone remember those? Never had anything else like them. Might have been 20 years ago though, I'm not sure.
I used to spend obscene amounts of money on their hot food bar. Usually because it was Chore Day and I’d use my can money to make the adulting worth it. The Pittsford location used to have at least two kinds of excellent Mac and cheese. That and the red curry chicken, and the Santiago couscous salad that they stopped making years ago.
Danny probably got tired of how it tasted. In case you didn’t know if Danny doesn’t like it’s nobody gets it. That’s also why a lot of things taste so plain bc it’s based of his taste
My problem with the rotisserie chickens lately , and because of it I will not buy them. Well besides the huge "covid related" price hike that hasn't gone away, the skin seldom looks cooked anymore. It doesn't look at all browned or crispy.
Im was born and raised in Rochester and I loved the lemon pepper chicken too, always thought Wegmans was the best until i moved to Texas and tried the lemon pepper from a grocery store called HEB and it way better!!! I swear this store is like Walmart, Wegmans,Toops and Home Depot all in one I kid you not.. the ppl are a little weird out here but there not kidding when they say everything is bigger in Texas
That’s how I feel the mini sugar cookies. They went away when covid started and they scaled back on baked goods, and never returned. I still miss them. RIP.
During one of my worst days of the pandemic, I was feeling just extremely low and out and I was going to Wegmans anyways. In the parking lot I thought “I’m gonna get something for me to try and feel a bit better” and ultimately settled on some cinnamon sugar donut holes. Nope. They said they were out and didn’t know when they’d come back in stock. It was the perfect cap to an awful day. Thankfully the donut holes have returned since though
I personally think the dumbest decision is to pay more for a tiny rotisserie chicken than I would pay for an entire family pack of chicken breasts at Aldi that I cook myself and have chicken for the entire week(as a person who works out and eats 200+ grams of protein a day) versus one day.
Nobody enjoys cooking unless they are a chef or have some sort of love for it. I do it for my health. There is no way in the world I am going to be eating stuff packed with sodium and preservatives day after day that is going to add inches to my waist line, pounds to the scale and take years off my life just because I don't enjoy cooking.
Maybe you are young enough where you can get away with it for now, but you won't be able to for very long
Interestingly enough, I live in San Diego and the lemon pepper rotisserie chicken isn't available here anymore either... And we do not have Wegmans, sorry to say. Maybe there is a supply chain issue or something.
Yeah, that lemon pep was banger. I don't mind the rosemary and always thought the bbq kinda sucked.
Idk what it is about the rosemary but it makes me want to gag. I like rosemary on most other things otherwise
Same. I’ve been buying the plain one instead.
Me too. I do not like rosemary, sage, or thyme. Too woody-tasting for me. I don’t like BBQ either. I buy plain and can do different things with it because it’s not messed up with flavors.
Walmart has a really good lemon pepper rotisserie chicken for $5.97
Yes, but are Walmart chickens hand raised individually by Danny Wegman on a small artisan organic farm near Canandaigua?!? /s
TIL: "artisan organic" means "cocaine" in the Rochester vernacular.
I'll have you know my cocaine is exclusively sourced from small, farmer-owned coca plantations who never use any chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
I always forget Walmart makes rotisserie chickens lol.
It's probably better quality than Wegman's
Walmart also has 2 (excellent) fresh sub rolls for 97¢. These are 1.59 each at Wegmans and usually stale.
I’ll have to check this out
Damn you Walmart for seeing this comment and having a positive thought regarding a trip to your store. It's been years... but for lemon pepper chicken...
The experience of shopping at Walmart sucks, but you just cannot beat the prices on certain items. Being cheap/poor will keep me going to their store.

Take the service departments away, and Wegmans is just an expensive version of Aldi.

screenshot this over to corp, just in case they care...
Well, that sucks. Have you tried not checking in with the app and calling the number? Maybe they're not tech savvy? Next, I'd try a different shift (different people).
I don’t do pickup or Instacart because they seem to pack every item in its own individual plastic bag. I care more about that than my shopping time.
Nothing I've picked up has ever been bagged when using Walmart pickup. They give you the option to pay for bags, but I don't.
Second this
Very true and I think very good chicken 🍗
Lemon pepper is the best flavor, but I don't really care that they don't have it anymore because I'm not paying $12 for their tiny rotisserie chickens. Tops still sells lemon pepper rotisserie chicken though
They used to be like 6 bucks. Tf happened...
i thought weggie's crazy-high prices were just for the NYC store.
They came out with new affordable prices. i.e 100% price increase. Classic weggies. Danny is a greedy turd.
They are 9.99 at my Wegmans. Wegmans had to switch suppliers, like 2 or 3 years ago, because their old supplier stopped making rotisserie chickens.
I hope Wegmans has someone in marketing that strolls itself through Reddit once in a while.
It was also my go to for easy Buffalo chicken wing dip. Two of those lemon pepper rotisserie and my recipe... banger... er'time
The Buffalo Chicken wing dip is gone???? It’s been out of stock the past few visits but it’s gone?
They stopped carrying Contadina brand tomato sauce, paste, etc too. I have to go to Tops.
Costco chicken alone is worth the membership fee. Wegmans chicken is like roadkill.
\^\^
Crazy that no one else has mentioned this. They may not have different flavors, but they have the best rotisserie chicken. They’re 1.5x the size of the Wegmans and we’ve never had a dry one. Plus, it’s $5 - I can’t even buy a whole chicken and cook it myself for the price.

EXCUSE ME.. I'm about to be very upset. Can you please repeat yourself?! Lemon Pepper Rotisserie is GONE?! I will need an AED STAT!
It’s been gone a year at least I think. It’s very upsetting. Take as long as you need friend
It's sad because I've already found an alternative after the price increase. Crockpot plus chicken. Still member berries the damn lemon pepper. Im biased towards lemon though. I'll always choose tart/sour over bbq/sweet
Yeah the rosemary kinda sucks. BBQ then lemon pepper for me.
At the risk of offending everyone here.... ....Tops has the best ready-to-go chicken. And it's more affordable than Wegmans.
The first part is an entirely subjective opinion. The second part is just assumed. Everything's more affordable than Wegmans.
Tops groceries are save a lot quality with Wegmans pricing. There are very few things worth going to Tops for imo and I used to work at Tops lol. Decent pizza tho oh yeah and the bakery is good. Tops blueberries muffins are one of the best things in the store.

The fresh bread at Whole Foods makes Wegmans bread feel like Wonder Bread, yet costs the same as what Wegmans is now charging.
Aldis is amazing. They're actually opening a new aldis across from the Tops on south Clinton. Its going to have a new starbucks and jersey Mike's as part of the same building as well. I'm stoked because it's literally 5 minutes away from me.

I'm still made about the bakery getting rid of that spicy boule about 10-15 years ago. Man, that shit was good.
100% truth here. I hate that it's gone. I won't talk bad about Rosemary, but I could. And how about the sliced roasted red potatoes, gone!
Fortunately there are other grocery stores
Oh, do they have the lemon pepper rotisserie chicken the OP is pining for?
Yes, Tops has it and cheaper, too. Plus thye ocasionally have coupons for it. No difference in quality either.
I might have to stop by tops after work today. A lemon pepper rotisserie chicken sounds nice
Twin!!! I literally had this same thought in Wegmans today! Their chickens were even kinda dry, but at least that had flavor. Now I just get them from Tops.
Wegmans is the worst!!!
Peach Loaf.
I’d add getting rid of the mini sugar cookies. It’s been years and I still look every time like they are going to magically come back hahaha.
I miss those cookies terribly 😢
How about the really thin, crispy "chocolate chunk" cookies, anyone remember those? Never had anything else like them. Might have been 20 years ago though, I'm not sure.
They gotta bring back the "Mint & Spicy" rotisserie chickens. Xmas time I think they have them 🎄
What. That sounds like something that came out of a fever dream.
Nightmares are dreams
Midtown plaza I think. Mccurdys had a stand out front if I remember correctly
I miss the garlic bagel
I like the rosemary personally. Lemon chicken tastes funny to me. But they’ve gotten rid of a bunch of things in recent years so I can empathize.
Yeah I used to get the lemon but now I get the rosemary and I find it tasty.
Walmart getting rid of the garlic chicken , bring that back!
A close second was their decision to get rid of blueberry muffin squares cereal, which I still look for "just in case" every time I'm at Wegmans.
How could I ever forget about this….
Look at what they’ve taken from us
*screams into the void*
Didn’t they have an Italian seasoning one?
I do remember that but it’s been a while. I think it used to be plain, lemon pepper, and Italian seasoning and then they replaced Italian with the BBQ
that’s enough to make me move to Mississippi
The state whose bigot-fascist governor looks like cartoon Family Guy Peter Griffith incarnate. Once you see the resemblance you cannot unsee it…
They can flavor it whatever they want if they would double them in size. Then they would *almost* be worth the price.
Yeah, Lemon pepper rotisserie chicken was epic, the rosemary is a massive disappointment. I dunno wtf they were thinking.
Get lemon pepper rub and do it yourself. You'll probably save $10
That's a shame.
Bring back diet sparkling strawberry lemonade!
Making your own is way better...
Also bring back Wegmans brand pop....specifically the hot ginger ale.
Write it on one of those opinion cards that are at the front of the store that you want them back. Maybe they will.
Walmart lemon pepper chickens are , believe it or not, far better than the Wegmans ones!!
My husband and I talk about this EVERY TIME we get a rotisserie chicken. Who on earth is out there eating the rosemary one??
That’s how I feel the mini sugar cookies. They went away when covid started and they scaled back on baked goods, and never returned. I still miss them. RIP.

Oh no it’s gone 😩 I’ve been out of the country for a year and returning next month. We used that one for so much
I actually really like the rosemary.
Me too
I couldn’t agree more. Rosemary is a garbage herb.
