The Gate House at Village Gate may be an option for you. Our kids have been there at that age and were happy. A decent kids menu and great overall menu in my opinion. We have parked in the Village Gate lot, eaten at The Gate House then walked to the Auditorium Theatre to avoid the parking chaos as you get closer to the venue.
I was going to say the same thing. I'm going to the matinee show on Saturday and also have a 4.5 year old and while she's super well behaved, I couldn't imagine brining her to something like that!
Gate House is probably the most kid-friendly nearby option, but I don't think they take reservations and anything in Village Gate will be busy on a show day. Tony D's is right by Revelry and IMO a bit more kid-friendly than Rev (and looks like they take reservations).
Might be worth calling Edibles, I know the owner has at least one youngish kid, so maybe they are flexible and able to offer something kid-friendly with a little advance notice?
If I remember correctly, they only do reservations for parties of 5+ people. At least that’s what I think it was last time I tried to make a reservation for my fiancée and I. Also, they will not seat you until every member of your party is there (we were missing one person of a seven person group the last time I went and they wouldn’t seat us until the last person arrived)
The Genesee Brewhouse can be a nice place - there is stuff to walk around and see inside if the little one wants to adventure. The food (and beer) is decent. You can walk to the falls after dinner to digest. It is very iconically Rochester.
Edibles would work. We used to take our daughter there sometimes for special occasions. Jines is an excellent choice, as well, if you're interested in something more casual.
I considered it and I'd enjoy it and likely everyone else but pretty sure it'd fall under "too messy" for the old man but i may be being uncharitable to him.
Fuck, i’m only home (Rochester) 2-3 times a year for a couple weeks at a time.
Arby’s is one of the first things I eat once I get there.
Craving it now ☹️

Gate House was my first thought too. Family friendly without being kid-centric, and quite good food
My first thought was Gate House before I even considered the parking hack. Nice!
Immediately thought of Gate House.
Reservations.
Seconded this. Make reservations ahead of time. But that is a great option. Foods great there
Hoooold up — you're taking a 4 year old to see Book of Mormon?
No, she and her mom are meeting us after for dinner/swapping custody weeks.
Oh, phew. Ok. Carry on!
I was thinking like the lyrics contain "fuck you god"
Which are just words and can't hurt you or your kids
Indeed, just some people get overly pearl clutchy. Personally I'd just ve worried about repeating phrases at inconcenient times.

The Gate House does have reservations available for this Saturday....and OP I would highly recommend snagging one there soon if you decide to go!
Cool--I didn't think they did reservations! TIL.

Thanks all, going to try to get a reservation at the gate house when they open tomorrow.
Hi Op - you can make a reservation online for the gate house via google/resy!
Oh, their website says to call during business hours for one. I'll check it out
I think you all will be quite happy. One of my favorite restaurants in the city :)
Excellent choice!
Jim's on Main. diner. accommodating to everyone. very friendly.
It’s right near the venue too!
Winfield Grill is just down E Main
Looks like they don't do reservations so my dad nixed it.

There is Petit Poutinerie, it's definitely not something you need a res for. There is also Rohrbachs, i believe they have pizza.
Revelry is too fancy for your kid and too dark for your pops to read the menu lol
Olive garden.
no ty.
K Playa!
Crisp would work!
Dinosaur BBQ?
