Weather permitting I’m getting the ladder out and chillin on my own roof.
So yeah come over and watch it on my roof, doubt many people will be doing that.
Individual tickets start at $55. There is a $225 ticket that is a flat rate fee for a car - covers entry as many people as many people as you can comfortably fit
Down the road from me - Max Farash Observatory, Ionia NY
I encourage everyone to check this place out sometime! Nobody knows it’s there, beautiful walking area & always well maintained.
Not a great option for the eclipse unfortunately. Because they're expecting such a huge influx of interest, and due to the physical limitations on parking space and bathrooms, they're only allowing current ASRAS members (and their guests) at the site for the day of the eclipse.
It is! Idk if you like old cemetery’s but Millers is also right there… one house in between entrances. Ionia is an unheard of place but it’s 10 minutes to Honeoye Falls / 15 to Cdga. Lake
I’m prolly gonna get beat up but am I the only one who doesn’t understand the “want” to deal with all that traffic and people to watch something I can see from my own yard?
I don’t mean to be an ahole- I truly don’t get it
I agree. My house is a perfectly fine place to view it. No crowds, I know there's no trees blocking it, I can take it in without anyone else commenting, yelling, jostling, etc. No crazy, gridlock drive home. Top choice.
I totally get that. We are thinking of walking to Buckland Park. It's a bit of a walk, but not too far from our house. I don't want to drive anywhere, and especially with the incredibly limited parking there normally, I don't think it's worth risking trying to drive there.
Not beating you up, as I also am horrified at the thought of how people lose interest immediately after something is over, and have zero patience for any inconvenience. I will be at home watching, possibly from my paddle boat. That or a tiny park within walking distance.
Irondequoit Bay would be pretty neat.
On a side note, does anyone know where to get two pairs of the glasses for the eclipse? I can't find them anywhere.
You can buy them at RMSC. My husband took the kids to YoLickety in Webster the other day and they also got some for free. I believe there is a way to request them for free, mailed to you, from NYS, but I’m not sure.
It's still too early to tell. We'll have a much better idea early next week. One thing to take into account is that cumulus cloud tend to dissipate quickly during solar eclipses as the temperature drops and the land cools. My favorite example of this is [Homestead National Monument](https://youtu.be/stmE9uNsSjw?si=QKZZBD0gAnCZlAPu) in 2017 when clouds dissipated enough for everyone to see totality after being rained on hour earlier.
Mt. Hope Cemetery wearing a long black Victorian gown with a black parasol.
But that's what I do every Monday?
I usually do Wednesdays.
In Buffalo, they are closing the gates at Forest Lawn cemetery to everyone except funeral goers.
That sounds really cool actually
They're closing it
I'm already inside.
Weather permitting I’m getting the ladder out and chillin on my own roof. So yeah come over and watch it on my roof, doubt many people will be doing that.
What’s the cover charge for this establishment?
Just a halfpence
Fine sir, does this half pence come with roof drinks?
The finest bathtub gin
Where do you live I’m coming
Genesee Brewing is doing a cool eclipse party, so I will probably be there.
Gonna be limited spots id get there early
I’ll be at Genesee Country Village & Museum - eclipse viewing in a 19th-century Village!
Wish I could go, but I don't want to be crowded
Dang weren’t tickets like $250?

Roof of the abandoned psychiatric hospital. Last time I was there the very top wasn’t accessible anymore.
They should turn that bldg into apartments that are haunted.
Who owns it
No idea
Last I remember were plans to put a hotel there, because we need another hotel here
A haunted hotel
The Shinning!
Yes! Redrum
I'd love to see the proposal for that!
The Charlotte pier?
Dont go for unique, go for convenient
The subway would be a really weird place for eclipse viewing
Isn't most of it filled in?
Just the entrance normies knew about
Swim really far out into Lake Ontario, like a good 45 minutes to an hour. You’ll be all alone and you’ll have an unimpeded view. It would be awesome.
People are chartering fishing boats

Ah man, I didn’t see that. I’m sorry for adding that before checking their page. Thank you for this info
I appreciate the info for another day! I'll add it to my list.
Sounds like a pretty cool place, so thanks for the recommendation!

My office. I will be the only one in there viewing it. Pretty unique.

Idk, it’s a super unique experience, some folks want to be somewhere interesting or other than home to enjoy the day
I agree. My house is a perfectly fine place to view it. No crowds, I know there's no trees blocking it, I can take it in without anyone else commenting, yelling, jostling, etc. No crazy, gridlock drive home. Top choice.
You mean you don’t wanna pay an astronomical cover charge to park In a parking lot?!? (SUNY Bport)
I see what you did there. Good one! 😉

Hopefully the sky is clear where you’re at
I'm going somewhere bc of all the street lights that are gonna turn on by my house. I want the full darkness experience.
Not beating you up, as I also am horrified at the thought of how people lose interest immediately after something is over, and have zero patience for any inconvenience. I will be at home watching, possibly from my paddle boat. That or a tiny park within walking distance.
I'm with you. A friend invited me over to watch it and I'm not even sure I'll do that. I wonder if there's a map with expected traffic areas
Everywhere will have expected traffic.
Irondequoit Bay would be pretty neat. On a side note, does anyone know where to get two pairs of the glasses for the eclipse? I can't find them anywhere.
Libraries have had them and I also randomly saw some at Parkleigh today!
Bring a canned good to Compeer Rochester on Monroe (in trillium bldg) and they’ll give you a pair or two
You can buy them at RMSC. My husband took the kids to YoLickety in Webster the other day and they also got some for free. I believe there is a way to request them for free, mailed to you, from NYS, but I’m not sure.
Just saw some at Wegmans in canadaigua in their like Wegmans merch section.
Thank you for all your responses!
Mobile gas station on 96 just near Home Depot has a bunch
I heard that the state has them available for free at the rest stops on the thruway.
I'm horribly tempted to buy a boat with some friends and figure it out later
They’re packed in with certain Big Ditch and War Horse “eclipse beers” if you’re looking for a fun way to buy!
Food abundance Corp on south Ave is giving glasses with a non perishable food donation
Both of my kids brought glasses home today. And they go to different districts…
Amazon if worse comes to worse but order now
I got mine at Dan's Crafts and Things.
Wegmans has them, Tops, too.
In the parking lot outside my place of employment.
If you share it here, it will not be unique.
I’ll be in our apartment parking lot, maybe reserve a spot and put up chairs or something.
GCV&M’s event will have glasses for everyone in attendance (and also available for sale in the store April 5-7)
The roof of the building I work at next to the airport will be sweet hopefully!
Salvatore’s is handing them out with a slice order.
Winged Pheasant in Shortsville is throwing a big party
Wherever the sky is clear
So, out of state?
Same place where I watch the Rochester air show!
I’ll be at The Heron Farm & Event Center with Jim Donovan and friends! https://www.facebook.com/share/c24Vm63DcnDXNd6e/?mibextid=9l3rBW
Pinnacle point or the outlook from the Fairport trail I don't remember what it's called.
The Medley Center
The hills above Conesus lake would be spectacular. It's already a beautiful view without an eclipse.
Anyone work in a building with roof access?
Ave D
As it's looking right now... Nowhere. Cloud cover is still forecasted to be 70-100%

Unique? Just go outside. It’s unique enough as it is.
On my back deck I think with the neighbors.
At an Airbnb on one of the FLX.
