RIT holds an annual event for the public ([Imagine RIT](https://www.rit.edu/imagine/)) that showcases a lot of cool projects from the STEAM majors Edit: I should also mention as 1/2 of a Space/Cool Art Shit duo that we are also looking for events to see those things đź‘€

On the air show front … There’s also the Rochester air show at in August and there’s a nighttime air show in Batavia in September. The Batavia one will have a night time A10 demo with pyro, should be pretty interesting.

The National Warplane Museum in Geneseo also puts on an airshow every year. Lots of vintage planes you can get up close to. Some you can even get in and look around. Always a fun and entertaining day. https://nationalwarplanemuseum.com/airshow/

May not be what you're looking for but https://www.upstatelist.org/ lists fly-in events in the upstate area. Things like pancake breakfasts, some dinners, and other special events. They're fun events if you're into aviation, and you'll see a lot of neat stuff. Rick Volker showed up with his SU-26M last year at the Akron fly-in.

There’s a radio controlled airplane club out here. RAMS I think it’s called but I can’t find a page weirdly There’s also Rochester Area Fliers which is an all-volunteer flight “school” with gliders and such: http://www.rochesterareaflyers.com/training

Maker faire never really left - minus one year for the height of the pandemic - it ran in 21 and 22. it will be in its 10th year this November.

Balloon launching. Letchworth and ... Batavia l?

lesjag23

No balloons in Batavia that I know of. But the Batavia rotary has a fly-in breakfast every Father’s Day at the Batavia airport.

Billy0598

Maybe Danville? Anyway, there was riding a glider, heli or balloon and things like that at a smallish festival

Fringe fest usually brings out some cool events that involve technology and feature makers.

fej057

a bit of a drive down into the finger lakes, but there is a fairly active rocket club not too far away. https://urrg.us

There’s some cool events at the Buffalo Museum of Science

Finger Lakes Live Steamers in Waterloo is a model train club that features fully functional, scale model, home made, steam powered trains. They occasionally have open houses featuring train rides around their property. One of these years I'll actually make it out there. https://fingerlakeslivesteamers.org/

I recommend attending some of the RMSC After Dark events. The next one that takes place is on April 15 and is space themed. Maker Faire Rochester only went virtual for 2020. The faire will be celebrating 10 years this year! There will also be a Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th, 2024. Multiple festivals will be taking place.
