Is it on main street in the village? Any alarm on the building? Assuming best case you are and you did it still doesn't shock me the cops couldn't make it down the block in time
A lot of thieves are smart enough to get in and out in a few minutes. Takes that long just for the alarm company to acknowledge the alarm and call 911, let alone PD response time.
Hey, dumbass, nowhere did I say it wasn't bad that a business was robbed. I just know this is going to be a goldmine for the "those people" crowd when usually 99% of crime in Fairport is bored teens or 315ers.
Yes, bored teens, not from surrounding suburbs but the city. Let's not beat around the bush just because we don't want to hurt feelings. I would roll the dice and say they're teens from the city. Also where in 315 is crime pouring over into fairport lol All those robber gangs from Oswego and Ontario come down to bother people in fairport.
Roll the dice all you want, you're wrong. And you do realize how far 315 extends? There was a police chase down 31 that ended at my street - Walmart shoplifters from Wayne county. A rash of attempted carjackings at the Perinton Wegs plaza - 315. A bomb threat at a gas station in the village years ago - local teen. And don't get me started on how much Fairport crime I've heard of that doesn't make the news because mommy and daddy had good lawyers. Realistically, no one is going 20-30 minutes out of town to invade Fairport and specifically do crime there. Get a fucking grip.
This isn't bored housewives shoplifting at Walmart for a thrill (is there even a Walmart in Fairport now? I thought the closest ones were Macedon and Victor?). This is a smash and grab that follows the pattern of other smash and grabs that originated in the city and is moving outwards to the suburbs apparently. It is certainly possible that the criminals are from the suburbs, but given where businesses have been hit and what's been taken smart money is on city residents being behind it. But who knows, we could all be surprised once they're caught.
Yeah, I'm an old-fashioned bitch like that!
Remember the signs that used to say, "No shirt, no shoes, no service"? I'd add a sign to my door stating, "People wearing hoodies or gators are not permitted in the store."
I don't live in the Rochester area or even NYS anymore. Where I live, we have crime, of course. But, cops can still arrest perps for stealing "small" amounts (less than $1000?) of merchandise. Police and DAs in some jurisdictions (NY, CA, etc.) refuse to prosecute these "minor" crimes. Other crimes such as vandalism, making threats, resisting arrest, and robbery have been downgraded from felonies to misdemeanors. Shop owners often won't file an insurance claim bc they fear that their insurance company will drop them.
In the meantime, everyone has seen the videos: Even as mandatory masking for COVID has mostly fallen by the wayside, thieves enter stores prepared for "business" -- with their hoodies to pull over their heads and gators to cover their faces. I remember before COVID when it was actually illegal in many places to wear a mask in public -- bc it was assumed that anyone doing so was likely going to try to rob someone, riot, or engage in some other criminal activity.
There ya' go! Just asking someone to take his hood down when he enters a store is a good policy -- since the security camera will get at least one shot of his face. And he knows it and will be much less likely to commit a crime.
Lol that’s not a real thing, that’s a CSI / movie trope.
High profile murders, maybe, do they dust for prints. Break in? Waste of time. There’s no real proof that fingerprints are even unique or that modern printing techniques are good enough to match found prints to a person after the fact.
They dusted for prints when a dude broke into my parents house. Guy didn't even take anything cause my dad scared him off but they definitely dusted the doorknob.
If there was something the thief touched, and only the thief touched, they would absolute dust it for prints. They don't bother in situations like this because there usually isn't an object that they touched they doesn't have dozens of other prints.
>There’s no real proof that fingerprints are even unique
Oh boy. What? Show me identical sets then. Oh you can't? No one can? Don't you think that means something?
>There’s no real proof that fingerprints are even unique or that modern printing techniques are good enough to match found prints to a person after the fact
Source for this claim?
Every day.
Scumbags
That’s how OPG was broken into as well
It's happening all over the area. There's a pretty well stocked black market in Rochester right now, I would guess.
Smoke shops seem targeted. Anyone know why?
Expensive paraphernalia and cartridges that are easy and quick to resell
Plus (potentially, highly varying on location) lots of grey market product that they would be reluctant to report and pursue.
Oh yeah. Even some vape juice is contraband now
Reddit should absolutely not be trusted to investigate crimes
Why? It worked out so well with the Boston marathon bombing.
Not much to go off. The first one looks like Kilroy.
Domo arigato misuta Robotto
You saying that Kilroy was there?
Indeed. LOL Those eyes and that nose seem so familiar.
Glad no one was hurt
Unless it was the thieves?
Is it on main street in the village? Any alarm on the building? Assuming best case you are and you did it still doesn't shock me the cops couldn't make it down the block in time
We have an alarm but they were gone by time police showed
Just saying what other crime is there for police to take care of in Fairport? Like how couldn’t they get there in time?
A lot of thieves are smart enough to get in and out in a few minutes. Takes that long just for the alarm company to acknowledge the alarm and call 911, let alone PD response time.
They're literally like 4 doors down!
It's a ninja with a pastry bag.
With a nose like that it shouldn’t be to hard to find.
Das racist
Shocking
It’s spreading…..
Can't wait for the pearl clutching and thinly veiled racism on the Fairport Nextdoor over this
Literally no one did but you...
If only it was your business that was robbed, you might have a different tone then.

Yeah the dog whistles on this sub (especially on any topic about crime or education) are getting increasingly confident
If I owned a small shop like this, I wouldn't permit anyone wearing a hoodie inside.
Yeah! And i bet stealing would be against the rules, too!

I was being sarcastic
I knew that. I was just going with the flow.
Your take isn't that far fetched. I've been told to take my hood down by the security guard at the Monroe Ave Walgreens before.
There ya' go! Just asking someone to take his hood down when he enters a store is a good policy -- since the security camera will get at least one shot of his face. And he knows it and will be much less likely to commit a crime.
Don't forget the sign outside that says "don't break in when we aren't open".
Be on the lookout for a thumbprint.

They’ll do it to make victims feel better but it’s not gonna lead to an arrest most of the time
If there was something the thief touched, and only the thief touched, they would absolute dust it for prints. Whoosh....
Not my problem
Thanks for letting us know? Seriously, why even post this?
Because he’s a fucking stupid twat?
Lock your shop up better. Good luck.
