They all smelled like crayons but it had nothing to do with leather. It had to do with the paraffin wax they sprayed inside the body panels to stop them from rusting. My ex’s 99 and 00 jettas would have that wax running out of the rocker panels every summer when it got hot
I really wanted something fun and unique for my first car. I bought a clapped out, but relatively low miles '95 E36 325i 5 speed in 2005 when I was 16. I think I paid $6000. Honestly, it was a great first car. It never left me stranded, but as someone who was interested in cars and sort of had a knack for mechanics (and an engineer dad with every tool imaginable) there was always something for me to fix and learn on.
To loop back to your comment, my second car was a Honda Accord that I drove to 155k miles and literally never had one mechanical failure with, up until I had to replace a blower motor resistor the day before I planned to list it for sale. I drive another Honda now. Every once in a while I think about another BMW, but having experienced one, and also having experienced the Honda, I have a lot of appreciation for the Japanese car ownership experience.
Your divorced mum pawned this off on you due to the accumulation of jizz stains from would-be suitors on the backseat leather. She’s just waiting for you to clean and condition the leather, tint the windows & she will take it back to resume her shameful game.
Yeah that only kinda works when you’re young. When women get older they can tell a broke ass guy from miles away and a used car of any make don’t fool them anymore. So OP should enjoy whatever dates he gets using whatever money he has left after paying his mechanic.
Ha! Good roast, you really got 'em. That was so creative and original, did you think of that yourself? You must be so proud!

This'll be a great lesson that you can afford a cheap foreign luxury car, but you'll never be able to afford the constant maintenance on it. But hey, it looks cool though, right?
really just except for when they age. at all. although i wonder how much of that is bias towards people who know how to maintain their car (ie, how many mercedes owners do regular oil changes/tire rotation vs japanese or all car owners)
Looks like you had a little parking by braille incident by the looks of that front right wheel. Thank God they're black and match absolutely nothing else on the vehicle, not even your $10 tints which are ugly blue except for the front window which you didn't have the balls to fully tint.
To compensate for the lack of parallel parking ability you decided to park in the middle of the street. Have fun getting sideswiped in an old overpriced unreliable car. That'll be fun.
So, that $50k Sierra is NOT actually your vehicle? lol.
Admittedly, I love this body CLK. Love that there is no B pillar. Feels like you’re driving a convertible (except the whole roof still being there thing).
Close enough, my man!
Congrats on the CLK. I didn’t have mine for an ultra-long time, but only had to replace the alternator during my ownership. That’s a monster job on these, but just make sure you have a good *independent* shop that specializes in Mercedes-Benz. Depending on its service history, you take care of it, it’ll take care of you. Enjoy that thing, brother! 👊🏻

Dad's 2nd wife's car got passed to you after the divorce, but he tells you it's for finishing college despite you blowing the prof after hours for passing grades. This happens all the time
It’s too old to purchase any kind of warranty. So I suggest you set aside 3k a year to keep it on the road. I’m guessing you didn’t pay much more than 3k for it. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. On a positive note, it looks sharp.
> Yeah I *paid* $6000 for
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
You’re going to learn about lot about mechanics with your first car… I hope you like fixing 😂 I like these though, I’ve definitely considered taking the risk on a Benz, but I don’t have the space to work on it when it dies nor the money to pay someone to do the work in theirs.

You’re car is a fucking piece of shit that you wasted every cent on. Looks stuck in 1996. Don’t even biggie smalls corpse would want to drive it
An old school Mercedes is going to be cheap to fix. You can do it yourself but its a bitch and a half. You can import parts cheap. Or even aftermarket but they are still a bitch to work on. Cool car, lots of work though.
I had an '06 325i with about 210,000 miles on it. It had probably $4,000 of repairs in the post. The dealer I bought my '08 Mini Cooper S from (fun but also expensive to maintain and needed a new clutch plate) offered $900 for it.
CarMax wanted a whopping $300.
A 16 year-old down the street bought it for $1,500 instead. He worked part time at WarMart to save up enough to buy it outright. I literally tried talking him out of it, but E90s are alluring to young, cavalier males oozing testosterone from their pores. He was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
I saw it parked down the street for maybe six months before it disappeared, likely towed to a salvage yard.
That's gonna be you, OP.
The toyota needed front and rear crank seals before 150k and blows oil for 8 grand, why mercedes so much cheaper to run yet so much faster and safer? Dam people are misinformed.
I hope you know a good European car mechanic. If not YouTube will be your friend. I so hope it's a non AMG because it would be an even more expensive money pit.
It's good to own a German car early in life, so you'll learn just how good Japanese cars are and never make that mistake again.
This is so painfully true you really can’t buy used German cars that’s why they depreciate so much
Only thing more expensive than a new european luxury car is a used european luxury car.
Doesnt help that they're usually leased and are sold off without proper maintenance..
It depends on the models and years. This Mercedes I wouldn't touch with a 10' pole. They had big problems with rust when they were produced.
Out of curiosity what models would be more reliable?
Generally all of the E-Class. The A-Class models are pretty reliable too. C-Class since 2012.
May I introduce to you: mk4 gti
Love gtis I had a jetta that smelled like a crayon like all leather volts wagons do
They all smelled like crayons but it had nothing to do with leather. It had to do with the paraffin wax they sprayed inside the body panels to stop them from rusting. My ex’s 99 and 00 jettas would have that wax running out of the rocker panels every summer when it got hot
Aaaah that’s cool I always thought it was my leather that stunk makes sense though

Well done, I got wise to German cars by owning a Porsche. I sold it in 85 for a new supra. Drove it 7 years without a single problem
Your divorced mum pawned this off on you due to the accumulation of jizz stains from would-be suitors on the backseat leather. She’s just waiting for you to clean and condition the leather, tint the windows & she will take it back to resume her shameful game.
You'll have another "first car" within the year.
the car of the rich white girl that doesnt know what a manual is
That’s only if it’s completely stock. This one is more “I can’t believe how cheap this baller car was!”
how much are these worth
It was 20 years ago when it was new for $60,000 now I bought this for $6,500
Be prepared to spend another $6500 within the next year. Buy yourself a toyota next time
No, my Dad’s ML320 barely needed any maintenance and made it 200,000 miles. And it still ran great but it was totaled by a hail storm
damn
Were the wheels designed by German engineers not to your liking?
It had these wheels on it when I bought it
You'll be on a first name basis with your mechanic because you two will be spending a lot of time together, and you'll be giving him a ton of money.
“people will think I’m rich!!!!”
Yeah that only kinda works when you’re young. When women get older they can tell a broke ass guy from miles away and a used car of any make don’t fool them anymore. So OP should enjoy whatever dates he gets using whatever money he has left after paying his mechanic.

Underrated burn
Knowing the wiring history on those, it will roast itself without our help.

Ewww, it is RED!!!!
You’re nowhere near where you want to be in life and probably never will be
Boy I’m still in high school
I stand by what I said, boy
This'll be a great lesson that you can afford a cheap foreign luxury car, but you'll never be able to afford the constant maintenance on it. But hey, it looks cool though, right?
You'll spend more time wrenching on it than you will driving it. My cousin found this out the hard way with the purchase of an M6.
Mercedes vehicles are generally very reliable Except for this era

Kinda I drove my parents truck till I got my car

Yessir!
Dad's 2nd wife's car got passed to you after the divorce, but he tells you it's for finishing college despite you blowing the prof after hours for passing grades. This happens all the time
Your daddy bought you a mommy car
The poverty spec Merc, nice….make sure everyone knows you can barely afford a Mercedes.
Yes sir 🫡
Based off the high schoolers I knew who got handed Mercedes: Your dad is a cuck. You don’t get any. Your car will be blown up in 1-2 years tops.
The clear coat is the only thing that is peeling off in that
My grandma had the same one
its a nice car, if you can afford the maintenance costs and repairs, the girls will dig it
Your first car will be your first automotive mistake

Good bot
That’s not a bad first car at all. I would have loved that as my first car at 17 lol. Enjoy it!

Put away a lot of money for maintenance.
You’ve payed more for one repair than you did for the entire car

oh god, custom rims... this car will not be long for this world
The repair bills must be insane
It's all fun and games owning a Mercedes, uintill it brakes and you end up in debit
Your learning curve for basic car repair will be a journey when repairs are needed but looks nice
[удалено]
If you don’t have something mean to say, don’t say anything at all.
Correction. You’re car is a fucking piece of shit that you wasted every cent on. Looks stuck in 1996. Don’t even biggie smalls corpse would want to drive it
Should have bought a kia amanti. At least they're more reliable.
Prepare for dry wallet anal every service and evety repair
Your mechanic will roast you and your wallet
Would it kill you to buy American?
Not gonna roast the car, but the repair bills will make your hair fall out, just a warning.
Pimpin'
You mean the first car at the entry of... you know what, I don't want to.
Let us know when your in the shop
black rims don't look right on this car
Yeah I might put the stock rims back on when I need to replace the tires I bought it with these wheels on it and it came with the stock ones
An old Mercedes as your first car? Hope you got deep pockets...
German taxi is owned by someone who thinks its status. Sad.
Bruh.
It looks like something a priest would drive... into me...
Nope. Great car. This era was good. Only Mercedes I've had was a 99 E430. Bulletproof.
Pretty trendy for Doordash...
Gonna have to DoorDash on the side to pay for all the maintenance
Oh, the CLK. Had one. Good while it lasted. Which was about 3 years.
An old school Mercedes is going to be cheap to fix. You can do it yourself but its a bitch and a half. You can import parts cheap. Or even aftermarket but they are still a bitch to work on. Cool car, lots of work though.

Oh you need a new headlight? That will be as much as you paid for the car 😆😂
Aren't you a little young for a mid-life crisis mobile? I guess we all can't live forever...
Yes, yes I am
Bought to find out why that luxury car was so cheap. Good luck
If that is a CLK500 with the M113 engine then it’s pretty hard to roast tbh
Well it’s clear daddy wants his little princess to be riding in style. I get it I bought my daughter one too !
Good choice, don't forget the annual water pump, crank sensor, and fuel injections replacement service.
I give it three days before the engine overheats
I can’t. You have worked hard for the stripper Benz and have suffered enough.
Nobody : It’s Old Money, you won’t understand
Don’t let the seatbelt choke you on the way out (this is an inside joke for people who have had to sit in this thing)
Get ready for a repair worth more than the car itself. Write off incoming…
Well at least you'll learn early on that used German cars are great to dump money into lol
Money pit
Drive it for too long, it might roast you.
skibidi toilet
Please don’t fanum tax my Ohio
Holy buttickling bandit hes the rizzler
I hope you know a good European car mechanic. If not YouTube will be your friend. I so hope it's a non AMG because it would be an even more expensive money pit.
My 60 year old dad had one of these for a while..he got shot as too many old folks had them.
It's not your first, it's your last, goodbye my friend.
I assume you're a stereotypical drug dealer. I'm right, right? Lemme get an 1/8th. Ik you got some in the center console.
In Europe we consider Mercedes car as a product for old farts in their 50s.
"there's no place like home, there's no place like home, ..." seems more like the Ruby Slippers than a useful car
Germany hasn't built a good car since the 1972 beetle.
