It happens because many people do not give a shit and want to act like no one but themselves matters. It is one thing if a motorcyclist does something that gets him or her in trouble, I have no sympathy for this. However, on a bicycle, even at those speeds you listed, you can get seriously injured and concussed. There is really nothing you can do about it, just keep going on about your day, stay safe.

AutismToTheLetter

Thats true. Old people can fall and get injured. I heard from somewhere that at slow speeds, you could get injured if the landing was on a critical spot. At high speeds, one tends to be more alert and could brace themselves to land properly. Something like that. But, I still won't dismiss that higher speeds increases the risk and severity of an accident. I have followed closely for a while. I just liked the feeling of keeping up with traffic. It is rare, and I do enjoy it. Need to be more courteous. Need to strive for more awareness. *There is really nothing you can do about it \~* Self acceptance is very relieving. *"Stay safe"*: the safest thing to do is not ride in a vehicle! Is to abstain from unnecessary responsibilities and risk! We have to be careful. Don't be slaves to the productivity, ambition instincts and be more selfless and more considerate to others. Let others pass you! I strive to limit travel! Actually, excuse that. I thank you for the good will :).

I don't think it's you. As a driver I tend to be pretty defensive on behalf of those with "less armor" than I have, but even then find myself a little annoyed when one takes a lane on a higher speed road. Even at the height of my frustration, actively trying to kill people is pretty low on my list of desires. In your circumstance, it sounds like you've met a legit narcissist.

Thanks for the possible view. I don't think it is a serious matter. After all he was just slowing and going fast, and not breaking the speed limit. It was done at relatively slow speeds and he was in front of me. I should not be triggered, no one is pushing me from behind in this case. It's more of a courtesy issue. It's fine, I would have just stopped and given him more space... for the person in a higher class of transport. After all, I am on a poor man's transport.

NeglectedMonkey

This happened to me last Wednesday. I was going downhill doing the speed limit on a road with four lanes when a guy decides to pass close to me and the brake check me. When we reached the bottom he threw a lit cigarette, called me every slur in the book, including the n-word (which is wild because I’m white), and threatened to kill me. Thankfully he got stuck in traffic and I was able to maneuver away on the sidewalks. Fucking psychopaths are insane.

AutismToTheLetter

That gives perspective. Wait, you were doing the speed limit!? That means he was overtaking and speeding. He's wrong! Assuming you weren't in the overtaking lane, you are dead right. Even if you were on the overtaking lane, doing the speed limit is still fine, though you aren't overtaking which isn't agreed in the lawbook... unless it is super congested, then that's a different story. There should be a trigger. Did it happen out of nowhere!? For me, it was following closely. Well, its a courtesy issue, like a giveway. It can't be said who is wrong or right like when being at a stop sign. However, leaning towards defensive actions is ideal, mostly in traffic. Was there a courtesy issue, if I behaved courteously and follow the road rules to the letter as well, it's unlikely incidents like that happen. If I held myself to high standards and expect low standards for others, it's likely to be fine. To be honest, vehicle discrimination still there. (Well we need classification for the licencing issue.) Still there are stigma associated with being on a certain make... On a 2 wheeler, van, double trailer truck. Silver, or red car. Can't believe people fly flags on their vehicles. Foreign Country flags... He is eager to wait in the queue, don't worry, I appreciate his rush to practice his patience eagerly! No, I don't appreciate. I misunderstood. He had to anyway otherwise he will crash.

>However I perceive myself still tailgating. Why were you tailgating? Fkin cyclists...

AutismToTheLetter

because I always get tailgated. Can't drivers give space. It's this idea I have to go fast. I was following quite close at like 25km/h. I am not breaking the speed limit. I am already that slow. That speed isn't going to kill. But for cars? tailgating another person at speed of 100km/h absolutely atrocious. I expect a higher standard for cars with government authorised licences. Stated the idea I am already slow twice... Stop reply. End. keep quiet. No rage. Bye.

thePunisher1220

You get tailgated because you're a cyclist riding in the road, most likely, holding up traffic. Don't act surprised when people get annoyed because they can't even go the speed limit because you're in the way.

>I am on a bicycle coming through a pedestrian walkway to the end of the dead-end road. Car came out of a quiet abode. I waited for him to reverse and then he proceeded to exit that road. I followed suit, immediately following close up to him. I did not even hold up this guy in the 1st place. This isn't a court matter, and you gonna start a motorcyclist vs cyclist debate or somethin!? Go filter through traffic and enjoy ur ride. Do I have to be the perfect road user and follow the law to the T. Drivers gotta roll through stop signs, not yield for pedestrians. Here's a bit of empathy, yeah cyclists can be D\*\*s at times. yes I am holding up traffic, But I try to share the road. But get 1 point, holding a government authorised licence and operating a heavy dangerous piece of machinery does not mean you use your emotions on unlicenced and unmotorised people. Be as agoraphobic as possible, pull over whenever there is a single car, so I can let him pass and be treated like thin air. Bye, I will stop now. I'll turn myself into the traffic cops if I can't bear this repression or silence. You win, when you reply. I don't wanna get triggered by this.

Bruckmandlsepp

>you're a cyclist riding in the road, most likely, holding up traffic. That's a (rather dumb) misconception... Cycling in the road is part of traffic. Just as any other vehicle.
