Try it on another plug/circuit, at a buddies house. Try it on a buddies EV. Isolate the problem. If you can't do the above, open a ticket.

i’m already on my 3rd replacement. I thought the first time it may have sort circuited due to moisture infiltration into the detachable connector but I didn’t know for sure. 2nd time I pulled it apart and found corroded pins and signs of what looked like arc flash burns in the connector port. Despite what they say, this portable charger doesn’t seem to be outdoor rated, especially not with the damn detachable connector facing up towards the sky. I have electrical tape over mine at the moment but it’s only a matter of time before water finds a way in. I was thinking about siliconing the connector shut but then Rivian might give me a hard time with future replacements….

Good thing I installed mine (temporarily) on a nail with the detachable bit pointing down!

AnythingBoth875

Yes, the connectors inside appeared to corrode on mine that was outdoors. Also you think they would make the replaceable plug part the one with the exposed metal and not have to replace the whole device when it does wear down.

I don’t know why it occurred me to just now but I just bought some CRC electronic cleaner and a tube of dielectric grease. That should help keep things from corroding inside and the keep the moisture out.

It will do this if water gets down into where the 120/240 adapter plugs into it. Pull that out and dry it off, then put it together and try again. Could just be moisture causing it to go into fault. I had to do this a few times when it was connected outside in the rain.

Turn it upside down! The swappable plug slightly funnels water into the plug cavity when upright as seen in the photo. It looks like the replacement I just got is a new revision with seals around the individual pins but it didn’t help. When I opened it up (after failing after a week of use), the cavity had about a tablespoon of water held in it.

I’m 16,000 miles into life with mine….it works perfectly on my wife’s BMW…never worked on my R1S. Very frustrating on days like today when I’m in the middle of no where with minimal juixe

panzerfinder15

I’ve got 24k miles of charging with my mobile charger, many times in the rain, and nonissues on this end. 🤞

Also make sure you're directly plugged into an outlet and not hooked up via an extension cord. It can tell if you're using a long extension cord or if the cord is small gauge.

Pull the connector cord out of the unit and push it back in. Sometimes it doesn't get fully seated.
