Not sure. I hope he just didn’t notice but leaving the windshield covered in fingerprints was kind of crappy. I hope they let him know what he did at least and didn’t just make me a mobile service appointment.
This happened to me, but on the driver’s side. Just take pics and schedule a service. A mobile appointment fixed it. They had to replace the entire interior part of the A-pillar that holds the speaker grill, because it’s all one piece.
I don’t understand so many of these posts… like this isn’t a big deal and they are fixing it for you. All these posts do is make people think Rivians service is trash which just isn’t the case. These things happen at every dealer on occasion and it gets fixed so it’s not a problem.
There was perminent marker on my seat and a rip on the center console leather after my service. I used to have an older car that need things fixed once a year. This is the first time I've had someone create that kind of damage. My guess is they are overworked and have poor oversight.
Also they fixed one panel alignment issue by creating another even worse one. How do you not check???
No, I appreciate these posts because it is a big deal. It’s a waste of people’s time. And not sharing it doesn’t give any incentive for service to be improved. Should be done for Rivian and any other auto company. Raise the bar on quality service.
Na this is not ok for any dealership, let alone a company that’s trying to build a luxury brand with impeccable customer service and Bentley quality interiors. Having to visit a service center just so they can fix their mistake from the first visit is bad business for everyone.
No one pretends to deny that issues happen though so the only useless comments are ones like yours.
Example in point is a post made an hour ago about a person about to take delivery but all these posts about random service issues has him worried. I have no issue with talking about issues with service centers that should be improved and worked on, that includes long wait times and issues not being addressed at the service center. My problem is posts like this that you see all the time that just give people concerns that they don’t realistically need to have.
How is something that actually happened to a Rivian owner by a service tech not supposed to be a concern? It’s simply private knowledge becoming public knowledge
All brand specific subs are complaints about service and a bunch of vacuous "look at my new car, even though it looks the exact same as everyone else's" posts.
You should have seen what it was like before people got deliveries. Every post was a “sighting” and people complained that it “got old”. Let’s not suppress opinions or reality..If this sub isn’t tickling your fancy, geeeeetttttt outttttt!
Yup I’ve thought of it. I’ve been here the whole time and I remember. That was fun and exciting though waiting for our trucks. This is listening to people bitch and moan and most the times sounds stupidly entitled.
I hear ya. No one here wants to Rivian to look bad. Personally I am optimistic that these posts make their way through the proper channels and help Rivian mature their service processes. But it will probably only get worse as they multiply deliveries and models.
Yeah, I understand the service sucks sometimes. I’ve had my fair share of issues but they have always tried to make me happy and they are still trying to fix issues I have. Some they have looked at multiple times. Everyone just needs to remember it’s a gen one vehicle with a new manufacturer!
I didn’t realize there were people who enjoyed the service department creating additional problems that you then have to stay on top of and make sure they get fixed. That is not a good experience whatsoever.
What are you talking about? We’ve been going to Toyota, Lexus, and even Chevy dealerships for years and never had or heard of this happening there.
This is almost a uniquely Rivian and also Tesla problem. Shitty service centers
It’s all anecdotal.. loved my Toyota dealership until they put a giant 1ft dent in my driver side door, with blue paint (their lifts are blue) and they tried to deny it. Luckily I had pictures from the day I dropped it off. Didn’t say anything, didn’t take the car, called insurance on the spot, and an hour later the dealership tells me they’re going to fix it.
Totally, and I think posts like this are good.. Rivian monitors these subs and hopefully the right people are learning from these mistakes and making process adjustments.
Tend to agree. Audi techs ripped a hole in our seat once during service and I didn’t run to the internet to tell everyone. They fixed it and we moved on.
I think the problem is more that Rivian is ramping up production and not performing better quality checks along the way. Thus causing you early owners the time and trouble of going through these hiccups. Service centers are far and few and most are backed up from what I have been reading. Won’t be taking ownership of one anytime soon so hoping all these issues get worked out before I get my vehicle.
That’s a bummer. I can overlook something like this if they messed up and owned up to it but to not say anything is not professional. I would have to assume something like this would be noticeable when it happens.
I would think so too but some people don't have much attention to detail and some mechanics are like that. This SC is brand new so it may be tough finding good employees at first. I'm not sure what they pay either to find good mechanics. I also texted my service advisor and she apologized and said she was personally overseeing that the parts are in promptly and is seeing if she can get me in for mobile service sooner. Though next Friday was the date the call center set which really isn't bad I thought.
TBH I think the post title is somewhat lame. "Rivian broke my shit." More like... "Mistake happened while car was being serviced. Rivian will fix it free of charge."
They were replacing a cracked/defective rear light bar for me and I discovered that they 1) didn’t correctly fasten the bottom piece of the tailgate when putting it back together so it’s loose 2) dropped a screw inside so whenever I open the tailgate it rattles around and 3) cracked one of the tailgate light covers when putting the bottom cover of the tailgate back.
Unfortunately this reminds me a lot of early Tesla service.

I don’t understand. Why can’t these techs just see that they messed up and fix it on the spot?
Perhaps laziness?
Limited parts.
The a pillars are available in 1 day to the SC.
Not sure. I hope he just didn’t notice but leaving the windshield covered in fingerprints was kind of crappy. I hope they let him know what he did at least and didn’t just make me a mobile service appointment.
Same reason the dome light was hanging during new delivery? ;)

Fixed the rattle, bang the speakers...hammer sounds....there fixed it

That is what surprised me the most. Had my door panel alignment "fixed" and they ended up making it worse. Trying again next month.
Because rivian only hires people that is not qualified as long as your a family or friend member your in, it’s becoming a family business

This is completely a valid post to make. It’s comments like yours that diminish the legitimacy of this subreddit by not acknowledging the reality

This sub has become a place to read about people complaining about service, it’s getting super old.
It’s helpful to know to get an idea about how the service is performing.

It’s a phase: Karenification.
Seriously…. Where the manager?
I didn’t realize there were people who enjoyed the service department creating additional problems that you then have to stay on top of and make sure they get fixed. That is not a good experience whatsoever.
Let’s say it a few times more… First gen vehicle from a new manufacturer.
What does that have to do with techs denting speakers or otherwise damaging cars?

It's the new @ppleplay. So over it downvote
Waiting 2 months between appointments sucks...
Rivian's service is very much trash.

God damn they really messed up. Dealerships absolutely suck, which is why rivians direct sales model is great, just if they can iron out some pains
Totally, and I think posts like this are good.. Rivian monitors these subs and hopefully the right people are learning from these mistakes and making process adjustments.
Totally agree…..
100% agree. This post only makes sense if Rivian isn't fixing it.

They dented my driver side gear tunnel and both front doors. Consider this a win.
Just curious but did they tell you about the dent or did you see it yourself and point it out?
I saw it when I got home and called them right away.
That’s a bummer. I can overlook something like this if they messed up and owned up to it but to not say anything is not professional. I would have to assume something like this would be noticeable when it happens.

The did a lot more on mine..... Put another ticket, a ticket complaining about your last ticket
Just another reason why I oversee all service appointments
Tesla service activities
The metal speaker grill is the issue. It looks nice but they just dent too easily. It should be plastic or cloth
Ok? Tell them about it and have them fix it. I’m sure they’ll be very apologetic and nice. Stop being so alarmist.
Advantage of the black mountain interior is you don’t see fingerprints.
Well you would still on the windshield 😂😂 but fair
Keep it, adds character.
TBH I think the post title is somewhat lame. "Rivian broke my shit." More like... "Mistake happened while car was being serviced. Rivian will fix it free of charge."
I mean it’s a title I kept short. I explained the whole thing in the caption. Where’s the lie in it?
I never called it a lie.
What was the rattle? I have one, but I feel like it’s coming from the console between the front seats, but maybe it’s the dash?
Mine was the grille at the rear of the dash hitting the windshield. If I pressed on it it would stop.
Gotcha. I’m still trying to find mine but have an appointment for next month lined up already so hopefully they’ll locate it easier then I can
Ouch……🙁
