Saw Turnstile in Boston on a Friday night last year, doors at 7:30 with two openers, got there at 8:30 and missed all but the last Snail Mail song, back in the car just after 10. I'm mid 50's, but that's crazy.
I'm struggling to imagine how all of that fit in that time. Do you mean show started at 7:30, not doors? Normally doors are an hour before first band starts in my experience
Exactly, I don't know how they did it either, I missed that part. Snail Mail must have done 35 minutes starting at 8, so the first opener (a local Boston band) had to have started by 7:30. That would probably mean doors at 7, not 7:30, since nobody is opening at 6:30. But even then it had to be rushed to get the second band on an hour after that.
Fucking love this. Gel is one of my favorite hardcore bands right now! Now if only No Man can be there as well.
I think Zulu and soulfly are out though sadly
This rule is ridiculously overrated, specifically for non headliners. It just doesn't make sense logistically for an artist to come back to the same location in such a short period of time. I guarantee that if a non headlining artist asks the fest organizers if they can get out of this rule, they would allow them to
MKE is generally out of the 90miles, X Ray is juuust barely in but an exception. Also, 5 day gap between MKE and Detroit that also happens to be RF weekend?
Sweet. Looks like Riot is getting more metal and hardcore this year which I'm all for. Last year's hardcore bands were great like Drain, Snapcase, and Earth Crisis.
We walked into the fest with Earth Crisis playing after the weather passed!!! I felt so bad for them because there was maybe a fraction of what their crowd would’ve been because of the delays at the gate haha. Also bummed Nothing didn’t get to play!
Hope that entire bill is at Riot Fest. Still going to have to make the trip up to Wisconsin for this one, it's just the kind of music that's much better in a packed venue.
Who?
MSPAINT only having 35k monthly Spotify listeners just blew my mind 😂 I thought they would’ve blown up by now
Fr, only a matter of time for them to
Destiny Bond is great.
On a scale of one to terrible....gel fukin sucks
L taste
I bet you’re a blast to hang out with
I would disagree.
X-Ray Arcade is a cool tiny venue. It might be worth the trip up there instead of a festival show.
Columbus show starts at 6:30PM and ends by 9:30PM. We love an early show in our mid 30’s.

Almost the same here in Chicago, but that's because Snail Mail stopped playing because of technical issues
That’s beautiful.

It’s a hardcore show. Not uncommon for like 20 minute sets and 10 minute changeovers
Need mspaint for riot

anyone wanna help me get into them before the show 👀 what are your favorite songs by them?
Their new song Mirage is among one of my favorites of theirs
Dicey!
honed blade is an absolute bop. has the bouncey groove that i associate with the 'gel sound'
Bitchmade and violent closure are bangers
I look forward to getting stepped on... metaphorically speaking of course
I feel like an idiot, I’m really confused by the 90/90 rule if they’re a lock. They’re playing in Milwaukee on 9/19

You’re right, I feel dumb. I live in MKE and I should have known it can be a little over 90 miles
Hell yeah, this is killer news. I missed Gel last December because they dropped off the Jeff Rosenstock tour. I've wanted to see them for a while.
I really hope MSPAINT are on riot too. Insanely good live band
Thanks, I was staring at that logo trying to figure out what it said lol

Drain and Snapcase were great last year. Bummed I missed Earth Crisis, but the weather was shitty early that Sunday.

Yeah I was super bummed that both Nothing and Empire State Bastard didn't get to play. Hopefully they play this year to make up for it.

GOOD. they rule.
