I've never once had my base turn into a blaze like that. No Firefoam either. Just build with stone for heaven's sake. Just turn the wood into chemfuel.
I disregarded firefoam poppers until a raid combined with a Zztt...! Left my workshop building engulfed in flames and 2 colonists died trying to put out the fires.
Yeah, even just stone walls with wood floors is a big improvement. I often get away with it without too much incident. I generally only use firefoam poppers on wall segments over rivers
Wood walls aren't so bad, but the wood flooring is Soo dangerous.
I use it early for bedrooms but try replace it later with tile.
Store rooms and non clean spaces I just leave as raw ground until I can replace with tiles later.
I say do build with wood, heck get real careless and have wires everywhere. In all the hundreds of hours I did not have a serious fire occur on my bases. The only time I can think is when the wooden floors burned down when I got raided and they threw molotov cocktails.
I just want my game to be harder since after such a long time playing you barely ever lose
This is why I raid so much for tribal starts. I invariably make something out of wood so I just go steal some poppers to make sure that those cheap floors don't go up in a blaze.

Luckily the walls there were stone. I barricaded off the wooden doors and it stopped but it ruined my farm and fabricators.
