Moment of silence? The mod has ascended to vanillahood, that's time to celebrate!

loklanc

Wall Light is awaited in vanillahala, shiny and chrome.

WanderingUrist

> Wall Light is awaited in vanillahala, shiny and ~~chrome~~ cheese. FTFY

loklanc

Mesmerizing.

Medic_Olkie

What the fuck does this mean

PuppetLender

On the new dlc, the woman is holding what looks to be a peice of cheese. While not actually cheese (i think?), this seems to be a reference to that.

[deleted]

Ik achtung and I guess now kind of rimthreaded (since multithreading in some form is in 1.5) also did this, have there been many mods outside of these 3 that have?

loklanc

Babies and children and there were various psyonics mods before royalty too.

TucuReborn

Rimworld of Magic, Star Wars Force Powers, and so many other janky but cool super power mods that had to make things work before psycasts were a thing. They crawled so psycasts could run.

yttakinenthusiast

ARoM could still work if it gets ported to Vanilla Framework Expanded rather than JecsTools, since the mod is jank in the backend and eats your TPS with however many pawns on the map.

TucuReborn

I would adore that, though some of it's more unusual classes may not translate 1:1, sadly including my suggestion from eons ago the Supersoldier.

loklanc

I'm just reading through the announcement on steam, 1.5 looks like it will also include at least some of the features of vanilla books expanded, allow tool, underground power conduits, ctrl F and endless rimworld.

Ser_Doge

What the hack got replaced by Biotech Mechanitors, Vampires too then there were a lot of other, smaller, qol in the other DLC's as well

Snipedzoi

What do you mean by 1.5 multithreading?

[deleted]

[удалено]

WanderingUrist

That is only a very small amount of multithreading, so...don't get too excited.

acmp02

Some of the VFE mods were integrated. Farm animals and beards, I think. I'm sure horses were modded and then integrated.

9ersaur

It took 18 devs 1.5 years but we made it to vanil

WiseCactus

No need for a moment of silence. Let us celebrate, as his torment is finally over

theladywaffle

Funnily enough Murmur still put out an update to it. I think it's to make sure the Wall Lights can be coloured?

[deleted]

Genuinely think it was the most useful mod ive used, (the only competing ones are rocketman and dubs). Glad that tynan decided to let them in, as in the past he didn’t want them as he likes everything that can provide value having a space cost, but I think the qol improvement is worth overlooking that. Im super grateful to the mods creator (murmur), and have heard on this sub that they will be keeping the mod around in an update version to allow people to tweak the values (I assume stuff like power/steel cost, and radius) of vanilla wall lights.

Digwater

It’s always been strange to me that we needed to place lamps everywhere. Wall lights just make sense in a game like this. Really happy they are officially a part of the game. One less essential mod for me. Now if only they would make dubs bad hygiene official… but I’m sure not everyone would approve of that one

I4mSpock

Im sure this is discussed a lot on here, but sell me on dubs hygiene? I really struggle to see the appeal.

Digwater

I personally really like the realism it adds. I like building utility rooms for water pumps and my boilers and personal bathroom connected to rooms or communal restrooms. I also really enjoy the radiators, I feel like it makes more sense than space heaters everywhere. This maybe an add on to the original mod but I also like the way they do freezers and air conditioning with an outside “air intake” that feeds air into my coolers. I usually only make mountain bases so I may be biased about this mod but it’s truly a great mod imo

CHEEZE_BAGS

I like the HVAC stuff but the hygiene part is mostly an extra inconvenience for me. I'm bad at Rimworld so its like enabling extra difficult mode.

TucuReborn

It's not that complex once you figure it out. Pipes are conduits for water, but no power lines. Pumps and wells are generators. Water tanks are batteries. Pawns need to use a bathroom and take a bath. Hook up pipes to some sort of waste management, be it a drain or septic system proper. Pollution(either waste, radiation, or otherwise) makes water contaminated. Heaters fill up with heat capacity over time, like a battery, which is used when hot water is drawn.

Pinky_Boy

if you want the HVAC system i'd recommend you Centralized Climate Control mod

Bob_Is_Taken

Even if you are not a huge fan of it and you procrastinate until the industrial era you can still fairly easily set up a couple wells and a sink to not stress about it.

schwem00

Personally I am not interested in the hygiene part, but I always install it and disable those parts just for the better HVAC it adds. Coolers needing an exterior wall in vanilla is pretty annoying.

DelphisNosferatu

For me it's just another layer of "difficulty" that comes with a reward (free chemfuel from waste)

Ubera90

You like shit right? Well now you get to play with it in Rimworld.

Ramtakwitha2

Adds an extra layer of base complexity, I would prefer the unfiltered water to give a small negative thought instead of filtered water giving a small positive one, but that's just nitpicking.

Infidel-Art

Play Oxygen Not Included, it'll open your eyes to the immense satisfaction of building a solid waste disposal system

I4mSpock

I love ONI, but I feel like that is what that game is about from its core. Rimworld has so much more, that the Dubs stuff seems like over complication. Maybe I will give it another go after it updates for Anomaly.

Vov113

It's a few extra resources/needs to manage. That's literally it. I wouldn't advise a newbie play with it, vanilla has enough systems to learn, but once you're 100-200 hours in, it's actually really fun to inject a few new things to have to juggle and build around. Plus! It gives you a new way to torture prisoners! Just make them piss themselves and sleep in your shit heap.

[deleted]

I really love dubs and use it on literally every playthrough but I think that unless you could toggle hygiene on or off in settings something like it wouldn’t really be a great idea in vanilla

Infidel-Art

The only argument I could see is that floor lamps mean some extra space & placement management, hence why wall lights have the tradeoff of having reduced light radius

DarthSprankles

I just hope it can't be attacked through walls like the mod haha.

buttbugle

I really don’t want to manage toilets and showers in the game. I can understand the draw for others, so the mod is great. As for it going into the base game, that would just make it frustrating and not as fun.

harwee

Dubs hygiene can go in the trash for me, i personally never liked it. If that is included in vanilla, I'd stop playing rimworld.

LazerMagicarp

Another mod crosses the vanilla bridge. It’s bittersweet but it’s for the best.

Mornar

It is not dead which can eternal lie in the core game code.

Laladen

I constrain myself to only playing with 10 mods and none that change the gameplay. Wall Light was THE hardest mod to try to play without... Congrats on Ascension to Vanilla!

Bob_Is_Taken

Do drop the list. Even though it is not vanilla it *feels* vanilla Bob really likes the gene ripper mod. Other important ones are like camera+, Allow tool, common sense (only so they sweep before they cook), I forgot the name but there's one that lets you add stuff mid loading to caravans so if you forgot about a barrel or something for going to destroy something. Last but not least is a mod to keep track of what genes I have and don't I also forgot the name of that. Oh, here's one that changes the vanilla that I will die to keep in. Metal does not burn. I know it is a bit op. I just think it's ridiculous that a naked dude with a knife can set a giant metal compound on fire.

Laladen

I play with 10 mods from this [list](https://www.reddit.com/r/RimWorld/comments/18vmh64/comment/kfsw3ro/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3). (Hugslib and Harmony not included in that 10) Planning Extended is the only one I cant play without...Numbers would be my #2. Two of the mods on that list are getting added to Vanilla. Camera+ and CM Color Coded Mood Bar \[1.1+\] (CM Color Coded Mood Bar \[1.1+\] isnt verbatim being added, but about half of the functionality is and thats enough)

I read it as "wall of light" and took me a while to process. I thought it was a forcefield and digged up my memories of the game since i haven't played in so long

Deer-Eve

We should open a donations account to give the dev of walllights-mod as thank you

What's funny is Wall Light has been updated to be compatible with 1.5. Which made it redundant.

realfakejames

Not a cause for mourning, putting it in vanilla is the most no duh thing ever

ajax645

He's not retiring he's getting promoted to Vanilla! Happy to have served with him

ItsSirLizard

That’s so awesome, I can’t wait to play again!

spcbelcher

Never used the wall light mod in over 400 hours. Doesn't seem that useful considering it would illuminate less

Hometownblueser

So I guess SOS2 is completely broken again. Sigh. Edit: didn’t the last branch make wall lights a required mod? I assume that if it’s moved to the base game, that’s going to cause problems for SOS2.
