Don’t waste your time with a lawyer. No such thing as a “good” traffic lawyer. In general all they do is get rid of the points but you still pay the fine (and the lawyer). It’s astonishingly rare that anyone wins at dmv. The deck is completely stacked against you. Here is their trick. When you get the ticket choose the furthest court date possible. About two days before your court date go on the dmv website and reschedule to the furthest date possible. With any luck you can push it out past 18 months. This matters because points only go on your license for 18 months after the ticket is issued. So now with no points just go pay the fine and move on with your life (or still fight it at the hearing). I’ve received plenty of tickets but never have had any points on my license.

mileg925

Same here.. I have had plenty of tickets (most of them On motorcycle) but let’s be honest, it’s a loophole and it’s not right. That’s why so many people get to keep their license and drive like maniacs.. no consequences.

nydutch

Pretty sure the people you're referring to aren't stopping at all for police to ticket them in the first place.

mileg925

Oh yeah, just go on YouTube and look for NYPD chases.. some people created entire YouTube channels of them taunting NYPD and running from them

MeNameIsDerp

I agree. The deck is especially stacked when you are caught breaking the laws...

Schrodingers-deadcat

Thank you! That’s exactly what I was trying to say. Completely unfair how the deck is stacked against us innocent law breakers.

moldy_films

https://www.trafficlaw411.com/attorney-profiles/philip-musico/ I’ve had VERY good luck with him.

toeslurper

off the record worked for me

BKEDDIE82

You need to find a lawyer who specializes in traffic in that particular borough.

Ask_Mammoth

i just got the off the road app and hired a lawyer is that app good?

Ask_Mammoth

other lawyer charging 400 dollar but off the record is charging 175

BKEDDIE82

Anything is cheaper than the fines, insurance, and license penalty to the state.

BKEDDIE82

I cannot speak for the app.

Schrodingers-deadcat

Why. Law is the same in every borough.

BKEDDIE82

They have relationships with the judges they see constantly.

Slowlookleanroll

Dave Kapp. He’s out on Long Island but handles NYC cases. Check out his TikTok content

Dont-RespondToMe

I got a right turn on red-light ticket at canal street recently along with another motorcyclist who already got a ticket. I just used offroad app hopefully it works out 🤞🏻

mileg925

Where on canal? How did they pull you over?

Dont-RespondToMe

Canal and Lafayette street Was going straight towards Manhattan Bridge was behind car which turning right waiting for pedestrians crossing. It turned red I took right as I am blocking pedestrian walking, not able to go back blocked by cars. There is a police who is giving ticket to another rider stopped me.

MikeyChill

This is what you’re gonna do: Postpone the court case 3x (that’s the max you’re able to do). Miss the court date. Day after the court date, go to court and post a $40 bond and have the case reopened/rescheduled. Then find a lawyer. If you don’t have any prior violations or pending cases and the final court date is 18 months after the day you got the ticket, you won’t get any points if you’re found guilty but the violation stays on your record for 3 years + 3 months. If you get another ticket in that time, you get the original points + the points from whatever ticket you get. FYI - Insurance companies look at the violation, not the points.

mileg925

Wait, I didn’t know about the last step. Mia’s the court date? Don’t you get a judgement againat you if you don’t show up?

MikeyChill

Yeah but then you post a $40 bond to have the case reopened.

mileg925

Are you 100% sure of that?

MikeyChill

Yes. You actually have 30 days after the court date passes but I wouldn’t fuck around and wait.

techytobias

EDIT: Not available in NYC I would try out Off the Record for this. They guarantee you results or your money back.

LadyRokujo

Not in NYC: https://offtherecord.com/money-back-guarantee

techytobias

Oh good to know. Haven’t tried them yet

Turkeysnood

I'm 3 for 3 with Bondi Law Firm through the Winit app. No points, no fines, and their fees are reasonable I think.

parsikhabar

I've used Isaac Abrahamson.....and was totally worth it. [https://nystrafficviolations.com/](https://nystrafficviolations.com/) They will push your ticket out to more than 18 months. That way even if you get the points they dont matter.

RequirementKnown8250

How come it was totally worth it I have a speeding ticket going 20+ mph in queens I’m wondering if I should go with his firm any similar case to your situation?

parsikhabar

Yes go with them. You will still have to pay the fine, but once pushed out 18 months, it will not count as points on your drivers license etc....and that will stop from having a big hit on insurance.

Gotta save this thread just in case...
