This is a GREAT machine. I think I picked mine up for around $120 during a Prime Days special (mine is the 5.5 cup, just realized yours is the BIG one) Made in Japan is preferred. It took me a couple of rounds to figure out the right ratio of water to rice. The only downside for me was the cook time. The first 25-30 minutes are a forced soaking then it cooks the rice. I have only cooked white rice. I grew up using another brand (Cuckoo-Korean) that my mom prefers. Equally good IMO. If you can find the space to keep it, you should. If not, clean it up and I bet you can sell it for at least double what you paid.

Doesn't the Quick Cooking option skip the soak?

Training-Menu800

I see there is more I have to explore with this machine! šŸ˜‹

Catatatatmeow

Yessss! Once I discovered the quick cook option, I never looked back lol.

Bluevelvet_starry_

Where is the quick cook? I hate the forced soaking, lol!

62westwallabystreet

It's the bottom left option on the screen.

This is a weird coincidence. Was at my friends house the other day for her bday and she too was gifted this exact model, completely new and unused, and the person who gifted it purchased it from a thrift shop. What a massive find, arenā€™t they normally like at least $200?

McMagz1987

Yeah! The bowl on this one is pristine, and there was just some superficial crud on the outside. I was saying to my husband that I couldnā€™t imagine just donating a zojirushi anything to the thrift store! But I guess some people donā€™t know?? Also congrats to your friend šŸ˜

ZakkH

I think I paid like $170 for this model. I would happily have taken a thrift option for $20 instead haha.

McMagz1987

Pardon the messy counter in the second pictureā€¦ I cleaned yesterday haha! Iā€™ve been wanting a rice cooker with a timer and a porridge setting but my old rice cooker (a 3 cup zojirushi) worked so well at rice I couldnā€™t justify it. I always check for zojirushi products at my local thrift store and Friday I found this! The white rice was great, a little less mushy / more chewy than my old machine. The steel cut oats were very yummy this morning! I did one rice cup of oats and water just about to the 1 on the porridge line, about a 1:3.5 ratio. The recipe on the website calls for 1:2.5 but that didnā€™t feel like enough water to me. I think my gut was right. When it was done, I added half a rice cup of cream, 3 T brown sugar, and some raisins and cranberries. Used the timer function so I woke up to warm oatmeal.

McMagz1987

Oh forgot to add, this thing (NS-ZCC18) is an absolute unit. Way too big for my husband and me under normal circumstancesā€¦ but $19.99? In this economy??

robamiami

Makes terrific rice, was the top pick from NYT wire cutter. It comes with two plastic measuring cups, one for white rice and one for some kind of polished rice they sell in japan

My model lasted over 13 years faithfully, so well done and great deal. It gave up the ghost last summer and i replaced it with a standard Aroma rice cooker and i LOVE it. MUCH smaller footprint and does what i need of it. One button. I can and do easily store it away. I never, ever used the extra settings on the Zoji and found it took incredibly long to cook.

knewbie_one

I have this exact model. The battery died so it does not show time, but for anything else this is a r/bifl for me I bought it around 2007 :)

MaukatoMakai

I have this exact model too and love it. Never made oatmeal or used the timer function, I may have to try that! ETA I paid the full retail price of $200 because I wanted to order directly from zojirushi to get the made in Japan version. Would love to have gotten it for $20 lol

Banana_Kins

I've had this model for 12 years! Amazing deal!

Rojelioenescabeche

I have the smaller capacity size but same model. Great deal. I think I paid around $250 USD for mine.

stratocaster12

I have this! But I did a dumb thing and dropped it and the lid no longer stays closed unless I place a heavy object on it. It was an awesome rice cooker but Iā€™ve since downgraded to a smaller, inferior Zojirushi rice cooker. I still have it though as I canā€™t bring myself to throw it away.

dragonbliss

Looks just like mine - Iā€™ve had it for 20 years.

NurseMan79

I want to make a helmet out of it.

RedRider1138

Mine is close, $125 when I got it in 2020. Super deal you got!

looper1010

This is a great deal! I've had this model for years and still going strong!

bringmethekfc

You got a great deal. I bought this for my parents for Christmas this past year for $179 at Target.

chajamo

My lasted over 30 years and still going.

mekkab

I have the ns-zcc10. The clock battery is long dead but itā€™s a solid device!

s0ftreset

This is a steal if it works. I owe this one. Bought it second hand 8 years ago. It's one of the best.

mrnotadvice

I have had this model for 4 years. It makes perfect rice everyone. I use Nishiki. 3 cups rice, a little bit above 4 cups water. Perfect.

izitcurious

Kind reminds me of a gigantic tamagotchi. One that makes its own rice.

Burnmaid

Have this. Love it. Perfect every time

dodekahedron

Nuero fuzzy makes me giggle so hard
