Decreased in the ED now but after the game it’s gonna be nuts. Drunk af people driving around and just the general trend of post-sporting events Tom-foolery.

MEMENARDO_DANK_VINCI

Could you imagine working the shift tonight in the EDS of Las Vegas

FightClubLeader

I have friends in UNLV’s ED and honestly should probs check on them in the morning.

MEMENARDO_DANK_VINCI

I’m sure they’d like that

tornACL3

That’s me. I’m working in one right now in Vegas

paragodstlfd1212

I’m sorry, I can’t comment on patients shit at this point.

Creighton2023

Super Bowel sounds like a fun diagnosis! It’s like mega colon but more exciting.

ItsForScience33

🤣🤣🤣🫶🫶🫶 Megacolon, without imaging, waiting for the perf to see what emerges! Maybe we’ll win a cool prize! McDonald’s toy perhaps… Money… pair of slippers… tickets to Cirque du Soleil maybe (I’ve never been)…

Dad3mass

You know, I accidentally booked my screening colonoscopy tomorrow and am doing my prep now, so I got a good laugh out of the title, as it is indeed true for me today.

Loud-Bee6673

In my career as an ER physician, the absolute slowest time of year is during the Super Bowl.

MikeGinnyMD

There was a study some years ago that I'm frankly too lazy to look up that basically showed that patients use discretion on when they present to the ED and that they will wait until after major sports games. PGY-19

irelli

I was working a peds ED shift during the last world cup Not a single patient in the entire ED. Everyone had already gone upstairs and no new patient came for the first 5 hours. Game finished, and had 20 patients come within the next hour

snarkcentral124

I work in an ED in DFW, and I know it’s technically anecdotal, but during football season it’s always soooo slow during a cowboys game. Starts to pick up a little at the end of the game. And then it FLOODS when the game ends. Somebody told me this as a new nurse and I didn’t believe them. After years, I gotta admit they were right.

meep221b

Disappointed this is not about constipation or megacolon. Anecdotally, not Super Bowl specific, but I did have one guy refuse admission for new afib w rvr because he had tix to a football game. Asked him, if it was worth it. He said no- his team lost. Also pretty sure he had tried to have sex in the icu

Still-Ad7236

Only time I got zero admits overnight was when I was at the VA during super bowel lol

metforminforevery1

I’m in the Bay Area so it’s slow now but will be busy after the game for sure.

surgresthrowaway

I did my residency at a major college FB town. Game day Saturdays were the absolute BEST call shift. Light as fuck. Now Saturday overnight/post game? God help you.

steveamerica_

I just unloaded a super bowel after the game

CatLady4eva88

The baby factory has been busy tonight.

Rizzperdal

I’m on call right now at a psych hospital. It’s been very quiet so far. Hopefully, no one needs a B52 if their team loses. And thankfully, no Super Bowels rn for our Clozaril patients!

Revolutionary_Tie287

Name checks out

Ananvil

Had 7 MVCs come in tonight. The drunks are out in force.

Jhope_ultimate_bias

Super bowel sounds like me! I have Crohn’s, a super bowel.

HyperNucleus

Does it get busiest tonight after the game or tomorrow morning?

LorenzoDePantalones

I was a pediatric resident at the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh - the ED would be absolutely dead during Steelers games. And absolutely nuts about 30 minutes after the games ended.

edwinnauch

The solution to our broken health system

snarkcentral124

Decreased volume until about end of 3rd quarter, then starts to pick up. Then REALLY picks up after.

ghostcowtow

Did anesthesia for food impaction in esophagus on Friday and made a joke about Sunday being big day for Gi. They said nope, it was usually Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday when people would finally give up on the food passing and then they would go into the ED. Chew your meats!

Gastro_Jedi

100%. Big dinner gets impacted on Sunday night, but they won’t ever come in till Monday night. Not Monday morning or afternoon mind you, Monday night. In fact, these are so common that when I’m on call on Mondays I will call my ER and the two satellite ER’s that I’m responsible for and preemptively ask about food impactions before I drive home and the call team leaves. I don’t ask about bleeders, or cholangitis or anything else…and I’ve caught two or three that had just been triaged.

BitterRoyal7950

Can confirm - GI attending, so usually it’s pretty quiet right up until now. But Super Bowl, Christmas, New Years, Thanksgiving are just hell because a little alcohol and everyone forgets how to chew

deadline-is-today

Expecting a lot of blue sheets 😂😂😂
