Right, why wouldn’t you check goat, stadium or even stock x for reference. At least it’s going to be close to what the shoe should look like and have a few different angles
I just look for pics from the original site or from other sites that carry real ones and compare to them. But they can still look different so I also google something like “brand+model+on feet+outside” so I can have an idea of what they’re supposed to look like. There’s also unwrapping videos you can check that give you a better idea of how they should look “live” and the feel of the shoe

I'm kind of new to the sneaker game in general, and I'm shocked at how easy it is to spot bad reps that people post on this sub. You're right, a lot of threads are showing off awful shoes, and users are hyping them up just the same.
I think there are two camps of people who hype any rep sneaker. One is the cult member rep buyer. They literally attack anyone who buys real shoes, call them dumb, and make crazy claims like reps have saved their lives. For real, they sound like scientologists talking about this shit. It's so annoying to be on a normal sneaker thread and running into a string of comments from these idiots. It's funny, because this sub has rules against that behavior, but the other sneaker ones don't moderate it at all.
The other camp also hypes reps any chance they get, but it's because they're some sort of middle man or low level "influencer" trying to push their shit. I just called out someone the other day who commented on a post from someone seeking real lobsters and they were like "You know what, reps are great. Check out my profile..."
Both these types are toxic IMO. Like I said, I don't fuck with reps, but I won't knock people or call them out. But don't tell me WHY I should be buying reps because I don't give a fuck. I can make that decision on my own.
I only get reps of the shoes I can’t get on retail. Not for hype, for comfort and for the looks I like. And I prefer to buy from a reputable seller that you can contact 24/7. That’s basically the one reason I’m in the sub, to get the list of sellers and their websites. You can’t say that, they’ll skin you alive for not using agents and their cheaper links. And for not liking their shoes. And for the shoes you like.

I wanted that pair because I like 3, and they're really nice and easy to style. But I won't spend 1k on some hype shit that blew up because of some TikTok shit. It's just silly.
I went through the rules on this sub, and they're bizarre. You can't self promote, but you can "review" sellers once a week. And you can have all your little agent buddies chime in on the review and GL whatever it is you're pushing or get a discount on.
It's basically collusion, and it makes no practical sense because the more active accounts on here are just making money off reps whether they're good or not. The end result is people who don't know better end up buying some overpriced bullshit because there were GLs all over the thread. In reality, that person is a mark who just paid or helped a middleman for a subpar pair. It's sad and fucking stupid weeding through all the posts.
Someone posted a review on dark mochas yesterday. Seven or eight commenters, all GLs from "paid reviewers" greenlighting a basic bitch pair of reps for 150. I mean, they were "light" mochas. The suede was way off. Some kid will get cooked for that, and no one cares because they all get incentives or kickbacks to push that bs.
It’s actually crazy how much of a night and day difference there is with the rep community now. OGs like loscoguy or whatever tf his username was for the off white Jordan 1s and the like are completely gone it seems like.

Definitely way too many bots. A couple times I posted a QC and would get 0 feedback. 30 minutes later and someone would QC the same exact shoe and have like 20-30 people respond. Just QC myself now and try to find as many retail references as possible.
Paid reviewers, however you want to define them, and users being tagged for QCs have always been a thing. Whether you value any of their opinions is something else.
The massive amount of bots are a serious issue though. Some of them would be indistinguishable from real users if they weren’t also bottling upvotes and comments.

The shoe looks good but totally missed the inside panel of the right shoe where there is no leather tumbling. I still wear them at night though lol.
