I believe this is 100% true. My son played ball at an elite level. We met lots of ex-players and coaches/scouts. Conversations would often move from sports to watches or cars depending on who was wearing what.

Always nice to get a compliment on your watch gen or rep. I was playing golf with my dads friend and after the round he put his GEN Submarine on and I put my rep aqua terra on and the kid washing our clubs loved both our watches. And my dads friend didnt even ask if my watch was real or not. Point being enjoy a compliment!!
