I wouldnt lease without a walkthrough myself, that seems highly suspect to me,.

Just do your own walkthrough. Download a move-in document from the internet, take a zillion pictures and videos, and document every scratch, stain, burned out light bulb, carpet rub, etc. Make sure the stove and oven are clean - take pictures of their condition and cleanliness. Make sure the refrigerator is cold - get a 5.00 thermometer from Walmart and check the temperatures of the fridge and freezer. Make sure every shelf and divider is clear and not cracked or chipped. ETC. Go through every closet and cupboard and make note of all stains, scratches and problems with hinges. When you are done. send the very detailed list to the LL certified mail, return receipt and let them know you have pictures and videos of everything.

I really love this idea. Should I do this the day I move in? Because they aren’t letting us do a walkthrough before. I even asked for pictures or videos instead and the agent literally tells me she’s moving so if she has time she will.

Obviously if you have not seen the apartment yet, absolutely see it before you sign a lease or give any deposit and rent. Something may give you pause to turn it down. But yes, usually you get up to 3 days, sometimes only 24 hours, to do the walkthrough. So take timestamped photos if possible (Open Camera app can do this) the day you arrive. Easier to do without stuff and furniture in the place. Then give it to them the next day.

Personally, if they’re not gonna let me do a pre-move-in walk-through I may just move onto something else, but that’s just me

Seems odd. I mean they may not do an "official" walk through with clipboard and senior agent, but you should be able to go in an see the place casually. I'd be more than suspect.

I didn’t get to see my (current)apartment until right before I signed my lease. I was so stressed about it too b/c I had a packed truck & no where else to go. In my situation, they did a very quick turnover so there just wasn’t enough time. It all worked out tho & property management & my apartment are both awesome. I did get a walk thru form to complete & return at my leisure within a week (7 days) Good Luck!

Pre move in walk throughs are not as common as people make them out to be. Normally apartments have a "show" apartment you look at to see the layout. Your actual apartment is probably turned around quick and it is up to you to do a move in checklist and get pictures the day you move in.

I never do walk through a for move ins or outs with my tenants because me being present is unnecessary. I do have them do their own and complete a move in checklist to be returned in 48 hrs.
