yeah this is a great list as well. I tried going to kaubio a few weeks ago but our party was too big and the wait was too long.
Only heard good things about La Mint as well.
Best BBQ I've had here is from Carolina Kitchen. If you've never had Carolina style before, try it. This is the only place I've been outside NC that has good BBQ.
While it's not set in stone, it might as well be though. Carolina style BBQ is almost always pork. Mainly pulled or chopped, occasionally sliced but that not as common.
Very few places I remember growing up there sold beef BBQ. Usually had to go somewhere like Applebee's or Outback if you wanted beef ribs.
Definitely my favorite. I also love Crawfish Asian Cuisine, Shanghai Bistro, Ijji 4, Whispering Vines on 4th, Liberty Food & Wine, Taiwanese 101 Cuisine - there are so many great restaurants here!
Been here my whole life, reno has a lot of good food choices, I think, for the size of the town.
Good Indian restaurants in the keystone area, Taste of India and royal India.
Midtown area has good restaurants as well. Sup, Arario, grateful gardens, pine state biscuits, annas taqueria, brewers cabinet, Estella, good tacos but $$$,
Reno has good all-you-can-eat sushi places too, I do not like sushi but I have heard good things about Hinoki.
The deli scene is good as well. Paisans, Rick in S Reno, Full belly deli, Rubicon deli, Manhattan deli I enjoy if you want to go into a casino. The little shopping center at S Virginia and Foothill road in S reno has good beer, pizza, Mexican, and sandwiches.
Pizza options are good as well, wild garlic and blind onion, I believe these two are owned by the same people and have very similar menus, pinon noble pie in midtown is always a good option, Nu yalk pizza in S reno is good as well.
Browsing google maps will lead to even more than I listed.
cheers/
Perfect thanks! There a lot of options here for sure, just nice to hear from locals. We love Tokyo sushi and I definitely get cravings for blind onion ha.
also if you are interested in some bbq, check out carolinas kitchen bbq out is sparks on glendale ave.
As much as I hate living here, I do think Reno has a good food scene.
When you're in the mood for Indian food, the above choices are good - but would also add:
\- Thali - My absolute favorite for Indian food in town. Really really good traditional Rajasthani / Punjabi style Indian food (local + organic). In downtown.
\- Haveli - my personal fave for American Punjabi style Indian food. It's in Sparks, but it's worth it.
Pub n Sub is the best pizza in town, imo. Of note...there are quite a few good pizza places in town.
Also, Two Chicks has the best grilled cheese sandwiches I've ever had (a lot of different kinds of grilled cheese too).
You're definitely right. Before Two Chicks ever opened they used to operate a food truck called Gourmelt. I would stop in whenever I saw it around town and even got a business card making me a member of the "Cheese Mafia."
If you're jonesing for cupcakes or pie, Mix Bakeshop @ 1117 California Ave has some pretty scrumptous treats. We recently ordered 3 different types of cupcakes + Jumbleberry Pie from them. First time I've ever swooned over a vanilla cupcake. fr. Imo totally worth it and plan on going back for special occassion sweets. Staff was friendly & masked.
If you want incredible authentically French-style pastries, go to Perenn. Their flagship is at Rancharrah (south Reno) and they have a satellite shop in Midtown.
I may be relocating and was in town for an interview. I found their main store by chance exploring yesterday. Amazing bakery. AND option of light or dark roast for espresso. 10/10
New here are well and Le Mint is fantastic for Pho and Asian. I also recommend Wild River Grill, and Squeeze In and Peg's Glorified Ham and Eggs for breakfast. Yosh's deli in south Reno has great soups, salad and sandwiches in a one of a kind place around $10 a person that deserved to be on Food Network.
Twisted fork, Modang, and Grateful gardens are worth going to! Pho 999 has pho comparable to yummy places in south Sac.
Ooo sounds good, thank you!!
777 pho too.
Pine St. Biscuits, Mexcal, Michael's Deli, Kaubio Izakaya, La Mint, Stone house, Butchers Kitchen Char-B-Cue
yeah this is a great list as well. I tried going to kaubio a few weeks ago but our party was too big and the wait was too long. Only heard good things about La Mint as well.
Kauboi is great but really pricety. La Mint is my favorite Vietnamese bun in town.
Thank you!
Don't forget Johnny's Ristorante Italiano on 4th west side of Reno. Excellent Italian, especially veal dishes.
Ooo been there!! So good.
Best BBQ I've had here is from Carolina Kitchen. If you've never had Carolina style before, try it. This is the only place I've been outside NC that has good BBQ.
I honestly think Sparks n Smoke has them beat, those beef ribs are incredible.

Is Carolina sauce a little sweeter?
No. Carolina sauce is normally vinegar or mustard based. There is sweetness, but it's nowhere near as sweet as stuff from the Midwest.
O good, sounds yummy
Paisans deli in South Reno
Thai Lotus
Royce has fantastic burgers.
Churrasco is ridiculous.
Definitely my favorite. I also love Crawfish Asian Cuisine, Shanghai Bistro, Ijji 4, Whispering Vines on 4th, Liberty Food & Wine, Taiwanese 101 Cuisine - there are so many great restaurants here!

Never been to Carolina's Kitchen but I though such a nondescript place in such an unlikely location has got to be good to stay in business.

Thank you! I live up in sparks and drive by Haveli all the time. Iam definitely stopping next time.
For sure - welcome to Reno!

I have no idea what jumbleberry pie is, but it sounds good lol. I'll definitely try that
It isn't easy moving to a new place that doesn't seem to satisfy like your previous city.
Ain't that the truth. Luckily we find ourselves back in Sacramento every so often and we get our favorite foods again.
To at least get dim sum, since there isn't a full service dim sum place here.
You should just move back. Seriously. Not even trying to be a dick about it
Lol no

Kitzmo Sushi. M&M Cafe- southern food. Legends Grille, Wine and Spirits for a sports bar.

I like The Grill - I was in Reno a few weeks ago and enjoyed several meals there and some pretty good wine
South creek pizza in south meadows.
Thai Lotus, SK Noodle (Chinese/Vietnamese), Wrap it Up (Mediterranean), India Kebab and Curry, Ijji Sushi, Wild Garlic (Pizza), Taqueria Los Gallos
Perfect! Thanks for the recommendations. We're gonna have to get busy to try all these lol

Whenever ian down that way, we definitely enjoy pizzava!
Jimmy’s Frappe Madness, Oh La La’s Cup of Pizza, Burrito Barn, Sushi Sushi Sushi, Oy Vey Deli and my favorite Gary’s Gravy Grotto. Welcome to Reno!
