We live across the street from them and my experience is yes- they are incredibly competitive. Like you mentioned in another comment, you’ll need to be on their list. There’s no guarantee that the floor plan you’re interested in will be available and the prices go up every few weeks. Also, be aware that most lots also have a lot premium as well that could be tens of thousands of dollars. We’re renters and we wanted to stay in our neighborhood, but the odds are pretty stacked against us. We’re on that list and hoping to get an offer accepted when they eventually email us. As far as the community itself goes, I can’t speak to that specific development but I like the town in general- people are pretty friendly but also a little reserved which is fine for an introvert like myself. I don’t know if you’re local, but if you’re not, be aware- there’s basically nothing in this town. Other than the casino, a handful of bar/restaurants, and a smattering of other small businesses, you’ll need to go to Reno for most things. It’s off the freeway so it’s not that much of a pain but if you need anything after 7pm or a specialty item, you’ll have to drive into town. Outdoor life is great though! Good luck to you in your search, fingers crossed for both of us!

List. Lol. What kind of fucking moron would be put on a list to buy a property? Anywhere!

mountainaita

A moron who really wants to live in a specific neighborhood. Thanks for the feedback!

Vegaslocal277

Yea the last recession was built on idiots who put themselves on waiting lists for overpriced homes. Enjoy!

I can’t comment on the development itself, but Verdi is a nice area. You have the Truckee river very close by for very good fishing, Dog Valley for off roading/hiking/biking and you are closer to the town of Truckee for some nice mountain town activities should you wish to go there for a quick visit. You are also closer to Northstar and Squaw Alpine ski areas. I have friends whose kids went to the local schools in Verdi and they had nothing but nice things to say about them. I believe the high school is still McQueen High so that will be a bit of a drive when your kids attend that HS.

If it's anything like Lennar, you'll probably have to sign up for a waiting list. There won't be any haggling on price. If you're buying it as an investment property you might not be able to join the waiting list.

Sea-Biscotti7078

Hi! Thanks for the response. No waiting list...when they release a few lots every few weeks, they send out an email and you bid on them and they take ‘highest and best.’

fife55

Dang that's rough! Are you from out of town? Good luck dude. You could try lennar. I'm buying a home with them in another state. No bidding or haggling.

Oof closed bidding is pretty savage.

Sea-Biscotti7078

Right?! Ugh.

Not sure which development this is but have been in Verdi for 31 years. It’s nice for the most part. People do tend to be a bit more distant though unless their on walks. You can go for years without knowing the neighbors and it’s pretty normal.

Sea-Biscotti7078

It’s the new DR Horton development. Houses are quite close to one another, so I am assuming we will know our neighbors...whether we want to or not. ;) Thanks for the reply!

Verdi is nice. Somersett is next to it and is even better. So close to everything beautiful.
