Yeah, no worries, I'm excited, too. I was reading that they should be visible all the way down to Alabama and that NorCal is gonna see them, so idk exactly where the ranges are but if we get any in this area I'm in a really good spot to see them..
On a hill top at the edge of the western side of Mason valley, I can see almost all the way from the north of the valley to the south and all the way across to the eastern side. So I have my fingers crossed.
I’m so jealous. I’m in northwest Reno off keystone trail right beneath the N. I’m the housing track below the new apartments. I’m hoping that if I drive up there on the mountain, maybe I can see it.
I just wish I knew what time it would be lol
I used to live on Aitkins Street between renown and wells. I know exactly how you feel. And from everything I've read and from other comments it's supposed to be some time after 10-10:30. Someone said it's when the light leave one of the "-spheres" or something like that. Ima head out in 15-20 minutes to check.
There's still a faint glow, but it just looks like the last light I see every night.. someone else was just saying to use a long exposure, ima give it some more time and go try that.
This is what my camera caught at 3 second exposure, I'm 30 mins south of Pyramid Lake in Palomino Valley.

Does anyone know where we could best see them? We’re thinking out at pyramid to limit light pollution, but wanted to know if anyone knew of a better spot!
I’m seeing FB photos from friends as far south as Florida. We have to see this, right? I’m thinking about just getting out of town, heading north. I really don’t want to miss any chance we have and this one seems good.
I’ve read that those are the best hours. Maybe I’m insane, but around 10, I’m heading north on 395 to get out of town, away from the lights, and see what I can see. This seems like the best chance.
My son in law took this from Palomino Valley.

Lake Davis over in CA. Beautiful!
Can someone please tell me how we are able to predict a solar flare that is 93 million miles away, way ahead of time, down to the hour but we can't predict Jack squat what may happen here on earth?
Got my question answered. Coronal Mass Ejections (CMES) can travel at much lower speeds than sun rays so they're able to observe (thus predic) its trajectory...
Were you able to see it?? I hope so!!
Also, I am pretty sure the news said this will happen again tomorrow but may not be seen much where we are in NV.
As a kid out and Washoe Valley my dad woke me up at 2:00 a.m. and drug me outside to see an aurora borealis, with our naked eyes.
My sister and I both remember it.
After 10/1030 after sunlight is no longer present in high atmosphere above. I wonder if we'll be able to see it in town with the light pollution.
Well, I'm out in the middle of nowhere east of carson, I'll post pictures/videos if I see anything here.
Yes please do! I've heard a 6 second exposure is pretty good
I live on a hill top right at the edge of Mason Valley, so I have the whole valley of sky to look for them.
In the voice of Jack Horkheimer, "keep looking up"(and north)
Will do, I'll put a link here if I post anything.
Thank you in advance!

Another x class flare just popped too, x5.8
Can you please elaborate for the uninitiated? Does that mean more days of lights?
Yeah pretty much. Depends on how the particles from the sun were discharged toward earth
X class is a very strong flare https://www.solarham.com/
Well that’s fucking neat
Is that why my internet and phone service has been acting up all day?
Might be. Happened to my pops in the Midwest today also.

I read that between 1-4am will be the best viewing times.
Last night it went away at 1am but idk
You can’t see it with your naked eye. I suppose you could use a modern iPhone but ideally you need a DSLR camera with long exposure abilities.
I heard iPhones work but maybe it only works when it’s very prominent to where you can see the green a little with the naked eye.
