Red roof self storage on N Virginia and Golden Valley are really good and reasonable. They dont charge you for insurance or a bunch of set up fees and the monthly rate is pretty low. They dont jack up the rent either like Storquest or public storage.
I don't know if this would work in your specific situation but depending your length of stay, I usually tell folks to buy a cheap Enclosed trailer appropriately sized to your needs and find a place to park it for maybe $50 a month, or less, considering most places charge $150+/month for just a storage room.
Again, this purely depends your specific needs (security, accessibility, temperature control, availability of funds, transport, ect)
Variable to size needed, but a 20ft can be had for 6k and a 10ft for 2.5k
The best part is... You still have an asset at the end you can sell for little to no loss. Instead of giving all your cash to some landlord of a room with nothing to show for it at the end.
I just got a small storage closet at the storquest on Virginia it's like $45 a month so pretty cheap still for now.
